I like all of those . . . just too lazy to rank 'em. Sorry.

I watched 'Fred Claus' the other day . . . a decent movie with Paul Giamatti, Kevin Spacey and Vince Vaughn.

I intentionally left out Die Hard (and Bad Santa) because those each are nontraditional Christmas flicks and I was going for more traditional ones.

I always leave out Elf though. My bad.

Things like this should be clarified. Basically, this thread is to rank OLD Christmas movies. Got it.

Die Hard
Bad Santa
Christmas Vacation
.
.
.
.

(everything else )

In the spirit of the Rank 'em, I just went with the choices. But he certainly left off some good ones.

However, the debate on Die Hard is ongoing. Don't get me wrong, I love that movie and if pressed, I'd probably say it is indeed a Christmas movie. But where does that stop? Is Trading Places a Christmas movie? Is Lethal Weapon a Christmas movie? Is Edward Scissorhands a Christmas movie? Gremlins?

Ok, next time make it clear that you are not asking for the best Christmas movie, just some random crap that you came up with.

Is Trading Places a Christmas movie?
Yes.

Is Lethal Weapon a Christmas movie?
No.

Is Edward Scissorhands a Christmas movie?
No.

Gremlins?
Yes.

Christmas Vacation -- the end all, be all

The Grinch (live action) -- fuggin love this movie, sue me

It's Christmas, Charlie Brown -- the nostalgia and the feels (and I ain't even old)

Home Alone

The Santa Clause -- I realize this movie kinda sucks, but it reminds me of when I was a kid

Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer (the classic stop-action movie)

It's A Wonderful Life

...

A Christmas Story -- I just don't get it. I watched it again a couple days ago. I don't get why this is people's "granddaddy of all Christmas movies"

You'll have to explain to me why Die Hard is a Christmas movie but Lethal Weapon isn't.

Is this for real or are you embracing the contrarian label you've been tagged with?

Simple. Luke Maye said so.

For anyone with even the slightest sense of humor, Christmas Vacation and Bad Santa have to be front-runners. BB.Thornton and the fat kid made that movie stellar IMO.

A girl here at the store told me the same thing yesterday. I guess you either get it or you don't, I love it.

5 star thread

Christmas Vacation
A Christmas Story
Rudolph
Charlie Brown
It's A Wonderful Life
Home Alone
The Santa Clause
The Grinch - The original cartoon is so good yet this movie is so terrible.
I'm stealing Dick's rankings since they're pretty good and I'm lazy. Die Hard would be towards the top of the list, and Elf would probably land somewhere in the middle.

I know I'm just an old dude here, but "Miracle on 34th Street" and "White Christmas" would make my list. I know they're old and corny but so am I. At the risk of really riling THN up, the original cartoon "Grinch" is great; I can't watch the other one.

If you like old movies watch "It Happened on Park Avenue". I watch that movie every Christmas.

I've never seen it, but after Googling it, I think it may have happened on 5th Avenue and not Park.
