I never said Smart was the best choice for UNC. I just disagree with the hate against him. Especially when he has done nothing but great things at both VCU and Texas.

Hate on him? Just stating an honest opinion of him. He will do well when nobody is expecting him but once expectations grow Smart will underachieve. You guys are confusing recruiting with coaching. At this point I would rather have more of an actual in game coach that can develop talent compared to a guy that is predominately a good recruiter.

I actually think Roy would be a better AD than he is a coach. What he represents in terms of character, quality and standards, and being the face of the program is where his real value lies. Wins and losses do not fully demonstrate what he means to the basketball program, and the university in general.

I think he would really thrive in a Terry Holland-ish type of AD position.

They addressed this on the pregame show today. Gottlieb was under the impression this would most likely be Roy's last season, whether he retired right after the season, or waited until just before next season (in order to sort of force the hand to hire Hubert as his replacement). Seth Davis thought Roy would stick around until the NCAA investigation mess was over with, and then retire.

I tend to think Roy will stick around until the investigation is closed, so the next coach comes in with a free slate. However I wouldn't be surprised if both Doug and Seth were right, and the scandal cleared up this offseason, which would prompt Roy to retire. I really hope Roy doesn't try to strong arm the university into hiring Hubert if they don't want to. I think Roy has more respect than that for the program, and wouldnt exert his influence on something that wouldn't be the best for the program.

I'm curious to see if Gott-thief gets any backlash for his statements. IMO, he should be made to issue a public apology on TV. Perhaps PTI will address it, I hope so.

To state that you think a coach will retire after this year, with no hint of such from said Coach, can have adverse effects on recruiting and is bush league. Rumor has it that Krazywhiskey called Gott-thief just prior to the show.

Turgeon would be someone Roy would like. I used to think it would be Haase, but I doubt he's ready.

A lot of people up here in Western Pa. really want Sean Miller to replace Jamie Dixon. With that, it has been stated that Millers wife really doesn't like the climate in Arizona because she has allergies that really effect her out there. I've heard Pitt basketball fans state that it would take about 4-5 million/year to get him. Maybe it's just hear say but you hear it ALOT.
