So, who's going to follow the election results tonight?

If people voted by issue, it would look extremely different. Third party candidates would make up a good percentage of politicians. Most people fall in the middle. Conservative and liberal power would be diminished. @heelmanwilm would be your representative, not Bernie Sanders.

Quite a lot of polling data showed that a huge percentage of Americans supported Bernie's platform. If people voted on issues instead of partisan bias, he would be even more popular. The truth is that Bernie's platform is actually fairly moderate in the grand scheme of world politics. Single payer healthcare and tuition free public universities are not radical left wing policies.

Indeed they did. You seem to be missing a few women in the picture though. For instance, where's Jennifer Wexton who won in VA?

Oh, I get it. It must just be minority women that you're touting here. Well, in that case, where's Elizabeth Warren?

I think it's a good mix.

Big key in what you say here, "World Politics". This is 'MERICA, damnit!

The Cortez chick has no clue whatsoever. She was asked by Jorge Ramos how we would pay for her healthcare plan, she said "we just pay for it".

Just because there has been a shift leftward in other parts of the world doesn't mean that it would be the best for the US to follow suit.

The evidence points to better outcomes for those countries when they adopt these policies. The US has fallen behind in healthcare and education as other countries have adopted national healthcare systems and tuition free public universities. “Free” market fetishism in the US is a big part of the problem. Markets are not the best solution to every problem.

Which countries would you like to go to if you become ill and need immediate treatment?

I can think of a long list of countries that would provide care that is right on par with what I’d get here and wouldn’t bankrupt me.

I don’t think anyone would deny we have many of the best universities. I’m just arguing that any qualified student should be able to attend them regardless of their economic background. And that’s not even close to the situation we are currently in. We may have some of the best universities but we also have the worst student debt problem of any country on earth.

The country would be better off if more people skipped college and got a technical or associate degree. Too many people go to college now.

Subsidizing those tech and associates degrees would be a great way to incentivize that. And would cut down on the student debt problem for people who are smart enough to do their first two years at a tech school. That’s what I did. Seems like that could be a pretty solid compromise to me

Those degrees really aren't that expensive, so I'm not sure that would have much of an impact on the overall student debt problem. I might be willing to entertain the thought of that though since it could steer people away from college. The issue with that is a societal one though. High schools try to force college down your throat and make you think it's necessary. Technical and associate degrees should receive equal treatment by high schools.

I will say, in his defense, if he says he's a "Nationalist", that does NOT mean WHITE nationalist. He'll say whatever he thinks will get him attention and support... like every other politician.

They would cut down on the student debt problem by cutting the cost of a four year degree. My degree was almost 30 thousand dollars cheaper as a result of doing my first two years at a tech school. Not that it will prevent UNC from raping me in exchange for a PhD...

So how soon will Trump fire Sessions and how many other people will he replace? I give Sessions about 2-3 weeks. I'm guessing Zinke and Mattis are gone as well.

Many companies will pay for a two year degree while you work for them. I know of several electrical companies that pay for education as long as the student works for them.
