I have empathy for people. Christianity as an institution receives no quarter however.

And, even if you DID "feel sorry for us?" That's not empathy at all. Empathy is the capacity to understand or feel what another person is experiencing from within the other person's frame of reference, i.e., the capacity to place oneself in another's shoes.

Why do you believe in Christ? You have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof. You reject the Word of God as "man-made", when it is in fact inspired by God as men were carried along by the Holy Spirit. You attack people who believe in the Word of God as dogmatic. Christ invites me to be empathetic. And, not to be only empathetic to those who are empathetic TO ME FIRST! This is not a reward-based/earned thing.
I don't personally care if you are empathetic or you're not. You NEVER exhibit any empathety toward anyone that isn't basically a clone of yourself.
Just because I don't act, or say, or follow, or color within the lines the way you do, from a spiritual sense- or, more specifically, the way you think I should- does not give you any kind of power to know my soul or know my heart. And, least of all to try and judge me.
I don't "attack people" who believe in the word of God. I may challenge the way they exhibit it, and I may even disagree with the way they interpret it, and will bring it up right here, but I am not superior to them, nor them to me. If I seem to attack them, then I am truly sorry and will humbly ask forgiveness and for you to point it out anytime you feel I'm doing it. I simply do not subscribe to these religions the way many here do. I don't believe that God is attainable only through religion. I don't believe God restricts the ability to know God through only one specific ancient religion. God is a living God. God is me, God is you, God is everything. The only time I have "attacked you" is when I see you condoning the murder and killing of innocent people- just because they're the wrong color, or wrong religion, or live in the wrong part of the world, or that you've deemed as your enemy. I believe that is wrong. If I am truly about following my Faith, and my understanding of God, then I am not superior to them, nor them to me. I am to forgive them and to feel empathy toward them. But, you have NEVER seen me tell you that your "soul is destined for Hell" or as having known your soul in any way. It's not so much that I believe in Christ. I don't follow your religious dogmas and traditions to the letter. I believe that Christ was an ideal example for me to follow. But, I don't adhere to some strict, literal Biblical interpretation like you. And, what's more important, I don't adhere to YOUR literal interpretation. You might make progress by understanding that no one does this the exact same way as you, but they're not any less sacred or any less of God's creation than you because of it. That is empathy.

I have no empathy for you, that is a Hong-Kong no-shitter. You refuse to listen to instruction, rebuking, and doctrine clearly stated in God's Word. You claim to know what it says but routinely demonstrate ignorance with respect to what is written. That will put you in a very hot place, and you don't care. If you don't care, why should I or anyone else care. You're going to do what you want to do. Why should I be empathetic with that?
I think I've answered you about 3 times now. I think you're confusing empathy with SYMPATHY.
Empathy is not earned, it's just given. Jesus tells you the exact same thing. Why you choose to give it to only those you feel deserve it is your problem. It's probably why you lack any true empathy at all. Empathy is not earned.

And, this "hot place" is another invention of your religion. I'm not fearful of a hot place. I don't establish my feelings and actions toward others based on the fear of being sent to some "hot place" if I don't comply or act a certain way. I don't believe God even has such a place. It's totally illogical. The idea that people comply based on this fear is also evidence of the total lack of true logic. It's sort of like what Dean Smith is quoted as saying about doing what's right because it's just right. In other words- "You do the right thing because it's the right thing to do. Not because you'll be rewarded for doing it, or because you'll be punished for not doing it." That reward/punishment thing is a human invention. Even the Pope "officially decreed" that Hell was not real years ago. Hell is a Christian invention, literally. No offense to Christians personally, but their religion invented this place of torment and punishment in order to get people to act more kindly to one another. I dunno if it worked or not. It does prove that religions "make up" a lot of their rules as they go along. I would imagine that is because we, as a species, evolve.
The understanding of God didn't stop 2000 years ago. The "official words" of God didn't stop 2000 years ago. That's another reason I am resistant to participating in religion. Peoples' worship of their Religions make people want to literally kill other people for not complying to them. They replace God with their religion and never really become aware of it.

That is why I believe LDS are not heretical or apostate (although, I will admit that I don't understand everything about them) and I am willing to consider apocryphal writings of the Catholic church, and have an open mind on the gospels that didn't make it into the traditional Christian canon as long as they are consistent with the Gospel of Christ - of which I am not and never will be ashamed.

You don't "obey" what the words say either. You're as imperfect as I am. But, I don't care if you obey them or not. It's not really necessary for you to obey them. I am going my own way. I'm not ashamed of that. God is showing me the way! I follow God, not a religion.
Pope Francis whatever is a human being that is flawed and I believe he is wrong. He is basically disputing the WORD of God which his church believes in. Have many Catholic friends and love them but have never understood the reverence they give to a human being and also all of the symbolism involved in the Catholic church. JMO. I am no better than anyone here.
