Stats and stuff (dook game)...

I didn’t read every poast so it’s probably already been said, but good god almighty did it feel good to see Berry actually get some foul calls his way driving to the basket. Rewatched the game. He should be living at the line.

Then you would be wrong.

Not really. Berry played great in the second half but was average in the first. He took over for a stretch in the second but also shot horrificallly (7-20 , 1-8 3PT). Cameron Johnson and Kenny Williams were more impressive throughout the whole game.

Doesn't matter honestly because we won. No point in arguing who had the best game but Johnson having 18 and a career high 13 rebounds was damn impressive, especially with his timely threes.

Zions height and weight have been lied about constantly. He is 6’5, 275 according to the ONLY official measuring system he subjected himself to (usa basketball) Obviously a freak athletically to move that size of a frame like he does but really where would he have started at? I mean dont get me wrong if coach williams wants a guy then i aint second guessing him for one minute. But imo he wasnt going to just walk in here and be handed a starting spot and start putting up 20/10 per game.

Oh c'mon dude lol. He would start on UNC's team next year. Stop this.

You would get a strong argument from a lot of folk who know the game and watch more than just numbers.
I watched the whole game and thought Johnson and/or Kenny were more impressive throughout the WHOLE game, without even looking at stats. Berry took over for a few minutes in the second half but didn't Kenny keep us in it in the first half hitting 5 threes? Johnson had 18 and a career high 13 rebounds and was the key for when we went small to grab rebounds.

How can you say "in no way"? Berry was a beast last night. He was great floor general, attacked the basket with no fear. He was locking down on defense. Mostly played on Duval and Allen.

5-18 for 18 points combined. Did he even sit in the 2nd half? Come on man, I don't know what game you were watching.

We should be thankful Joel didn't shoot more threes than he did, what with that 'hitch' in his shot and whatever has gotten in his head.

Hopefully, he'll rebound and come back around to being the great shooter we know him to be.

Berry didn't just "take over", he owned the game. He completely dictated tempo ---whether we needed to go fast or slow down --- moved and manipulated their defense and maintained spacing, got everyone involved, created mismatches and took full advantage when he did. Oh, and he fouled out their PG along the way. On defense he was a disruptor on and off the ball, neutralized his man and created 4 TOs, and while he was at it got on the defensive glass.

As I said above, there's plenty of props to go around and Cam stepped up big-time, but laughing at the idea that JB was the best player on the floor is WAY off-base. Basketball is about a lot more than just numbers (although 21 and 6 is pretty sporty). Bilas singled him out for a very good reason. That was JB's floor Thursday and everyone else was playing on it. That was as beautiful a job of floor generalship (to go along with excellent individual play) as you're gonna see.

...and hopefully transparently passive-aggressive sniping will find a much-needed retirement.

Brick. Clang. Airball.

Can you keep track of which players have those blown assists and poast those respective numbers . . ?

Thanks a million . .

Lol ok man. I'll let you keep riding him. I mean Roy was criticizing Berry for not playing that well and taking 20 shots but by all means Berry can do no wrong by you. I'll be interested what you'll talk about next year when he isn't here. You say "although 21 and 6 is pretty sporty"... You better get 21 pts if you're taking 20 shots lmao.

Berry played well but because he dictated the tempo vs a freshman PG who can't shoot, I don't see how that made him the best player on the floor. Kenny and Cam were more impressive throughout the whole game if you're going to be objective. Berry was missing shot after shot and even he would say he didn't have a great game.

It's true though. His shot has been off all year. He was 1-8 on threes vs Duke, including a lot of very poor shot selections at the beginning of the shot clock. Under 40% FG is atrocious for a guard, especially a senior. He is actually shooting even worse in ACC play as he is only at 34% 3PT. He's just not shooting well this year as the #1 option. Hopefully he can regain his old form down the stretch.

Oh yeah, i know. Great performances all around. Was just saying I wouldn't say in no way was Berry the best.

Pull Berry out and we fall flat on our face.

I dont understand your confidence. Not saying you’re wrong. I just dont see it being so easy. Who does he beat out? Maye? Williams? Little? He cant play sg or pg or the 5.

The fact of the matter is no one knows how good any high school player will be against college players, until they play against better competition. Before Knox announced which school he would be attending, I had several people on both of the UNC boards tell me I was crazy, because I said Luke would start whether Knox came to UNC or not. I suppose I was the rare individual who saw Luke steadily improving & believed he had a much higher ceiling than most did. Take a look at the two players stats & ask Kentucky which player they'd rather have right now. It's appears I wasn't the crazy one, after all.

As a side note, my current pet peeve is hearing about the one & done, 5* "beasts" coming in & taking over the game. Upperclassmen might as well take their ball & go home. How many players can be called a beast, before being labeled a beast no longer means anything? Personally, I think we surpassed that number long ago. For those who don't appear to know what a beast is, Lebron James was a beast coming out of high school.
