Tatum suffers foot injury

Sincere wishes for a complete and speedy recovery for Mr. Tatum . .

Actually was looking forward to watching Tatum play. Ive heard hes a special talent, regardless of who hes playing for. Hope he and pinson both get right before UNC plays them so we can see both teams at full strength.

No one is happy to see a kid get hurt, especially a good kid like Tatum who is projected as a top 3 NBA pick next year. He is a good kid. I hope he has a very productive NBA career. In fact, I hope he pulls a Kyrie Irving and stays out all season and heads to the NBA. But if these injuries knock Duke down to a 3-4 NCAA seed I don't think too many UNC fans will be crying about it. If you say you want Duke at full strength when we play them you are lying. The same thing applies to their thinking about Theo Pinson playing when we play them. They don't want Theo Pinson playing when we play them.

K-Rat is on suicide watch because his title dreams are slipping away.

Dude, the kid just got hurt, can we lay off the speculation for a bit before we start throwing the insults around?

It's always "convenient" so to speak when a team isn't at full strength, but this isn't a battlefield, it's basketball.

Tell that to Tyler Hansbrough . .

. . and btw, CB34, if you keep cozying up to the dOOk folks and talking ish about other UNC folks, you're gonna lose some friends on this site.

Jus' sayin' . .

I love you man. My insults are directly at K-Rat and not the player. I hope Duke loses in the first round of the Dance. In fact, I hope they don't get a bid.

Sorry for any player hurt.
Mostly sorry for Theo - I thought he was set to electrify college bball this season.
Don't give a crap about Dook, except for the couple of times a year the Heels play them..... and for those games I don't care what strength they are at, as long as UNC wins.

Never-Never-Never want to see ANY of the kids get hurt no matter who they play for. And YES Steat, I want them and us at full strength when we play.

Yeah I'm no

No, I wasn't lying when I said I wanted to play them at full strength and I want us to be as well. Actually I think that's pretty weak that you'd rather not play them when they are at full strength.

Gotta say, I'm in agreement with Steat here. Of course I wouldn't wish any kid an injury. But it happened. Injuries happen in sports. It's part of the game. duke will deal with theirs just as we'll deal with Pinson's. But if you're asking me to wish him back by the time we play, look somewhere else. If that makes me look like I'm scared to play duke at full strength, so be it. I'm not. However, him not being available increases our chances of winning. So I'm for that.

The kid will be fine. I wish him the most success during his professional career.

Mikey, I wish both Giles and Tatum a full recovery.

Let me tell you what is pretty weak.
When Kendall Marshall got hurt in the NCAA Tourney a few years ago and we got no sympathy from Duke fans. A convincing argument could be made that the Heels would have won the title that year if Marshall would not have been hurt

Let me tell you what is pretty weak.
The way that K-Rat kept a healthy Amile Jefferson on the bench in regular season final game against UNC last year, plus the entire NCAA tournament. Thus, saving him for this year knowing that they had no chance of winning a title last year.

Let me tell you what is pretty weak.
The way that K-Rat convinces kids to forego their last year in high school to bail him out and treats them badly once he does not have a need for them. Then forces them to transfer.

Let me tell you what is pretty weak.
The way that K-Rat asks like a spoiled child when he loses a game.

Let me tell you what is pretty weak.
The way that K-Rat avoids the press at halftime by sending out his assistant coaches because he is afraid that he will say something stupid.

Let me tell you what is pretty weak.
The way that K avoids shaking the hands of rival players once he loses a tough game a home (Syracuse game last year)

Weak? You get the drift. I hope Duke loses every game. K-Rat is a selfish man that retire a very disgruntled man for not being able to break Wooden's record.

Wow that's a lot to be holding onto. I agree we would've likely won the whole thing with Marshall. With regards to what their fans may or may not have said I can't speak to that as I wasn't really paying attention.

But, as s competitor, I always wanted to beat the other person/team while they were at their best. To me it's weak sauce to want to play someone when they are hamstrung. Adding to the fact that if we did beat them without Tatum, they could say "well we didn't have our lottery pick stud".. so yeah it's not a question in my mind I want them at full strength. And I still think it's weak to want them not to be.

Why are you repeating yourself?

Well you replied to my post so I replied back to yours . How message boards work.

You replied by repeating the same thing in your first response by saying that my response was "weak". Then you mentioned the "weak" remark a second time in the next response after my response had nothing to do with Tatum. Look boss...I know your opinion.

As far as Marshall is concerned, many posters on this board were upset about how the Duke fans reacted to Marshall's injury. To say that many Duke fans were happy he went down may be a gross understatement. Oh, you were not paying attention so you didn't notice it. Ironically, many UNC fans noticed it and remember it.

I didn't say your response was weak. i said I thought that wanting to play your rival while they aren't at full strength was weak, regardless of any reasons you give over why you feel that way. To me all those things you say would just make me want to beat them at full strength even more. But everyone's got their own perceptions , opinions etc so.

See you all look at it the wrong way. We want to play them at full strength 1. because we have class. 2. because we care about the kids in question and not the name on their jersey and 3. because beating a team at full strength shows we are championship material compared to beating someone limping by.

Sure maybe Duke has 13 injuries we beat them 130-13. Woopee? What did we accomplish? Means nothing and means nothing for our team.

We go to Duke with their top players all available and we grind out a victory. What did we accomplish? We showed we are one of the best teams in America and had a true test which will help us when it comes to the tournament. Even a loss helps more against a true top team than a win versus a team injured that isn't at full strength.

You say you are not scared but then say you want to play a team injured because it increases your chance to win... that is the definition of scared. You are afraid to play a team at full strength because you have a greater chance at losing. That sort of mentality and lack of confidence in our team is disappointing. = /

Not to mention if Duke were to beat UNC without Tatum or Giles it wouldn't look all that great, especially if it was in front of potential recruits.

Why wouldn't it? You still have more 5 stars on the team without those two than most teams. That's horseshit. Is it going to look extra bad if we beat you without Pinson? Of course not. A win is a win and a loss is a loss. Injuries happen. It's part of any sport. Jericho talks about having class...class is accepting the fact that all teams deal with injuries and playing your best game despite those injuries and then accepting the outcome and not crying about anyone being hurt.

Rather Tatum.and Giles be 100% and we beat them on the court by being a superior team.

Agree that I'd rather beat dook with Tatum and Giles in the lineup. But if my choices are losing to a Tatum/Giles lead dook team, or beating a dook team without Tatum and Giles - I'm taking the latter every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

I wonder if Roy should reschedule the game if Giles and Tatum are hurt, so we can face them 100% healthy for the tough guy fans. lol.

So what if we got no sympathy. Why don't we try to be better than that and actually feel bad for an 18 year old kid getting hurt? Just a thought.

If they're hurt, so be it.

If they're healthy, so be it.

No self-respectable fan of any team wished or wanted this to happen, but I'm sure as hell not going to shed tears because we can't play them at full strength. Pretty sure most of their fans will feel the same way. A Win is a Win is a Win at the end of the day.

Being the bigger man is vastly overrated.

Everyone here seems to be sympathetic. we've certainly been more plagued by injuries than any other team I'm familiar with, and I'm thoroughly familiar with dook's program. Having grown up in a house where we pulled for Duke and Carolina, I know almost as much about their program as I do Carolina's. Thing is, I disliked the LOM the day he walked onto the campus. I told my dad, a big Duke fan, that I wouldn't root for Duke basketball as long as he was their coach. And I've come to dislike him even more through the decades. I see the LOM as Knight LIte, a chip off his mentor's block.

So while I feel for Giles and Tatum, it wouldn't bother me one iota if they missed their games with us. Injuries are a part of the game and as I said, no team has had more than UNC. So I understand where Steat's coming from. May they excel in the pros but achieve nil as they serve their obligatory two semester college sentence.

I am not saying we should not play them if they are hurt.

I am saying, I want to play them at full strength and dominate them.

If they are hurt, you can't change that.

But, I am not of the mindset of I hope their players get hurt so we can beat them. i am of the mindset I think we can beat them regardless and would rather beat them at their best.

End of story. I don't care who they trot out their. I want to win the game. I am not hoping, wishing, or welcoming an injury of a kid trying to make a future for himself to achieve that though.
