My first NBA rookie update on Duke's great OADs. Brandon Ingram coming off the bench averaging 6 pts a game (16 minutes) after 3 games. A top 2 NBA pick coming off the bench for one of the worst teams in the NBA last year. Great start for the projected Rookie of the Year.....
dook will once again shoot the trey very well, they have two of the better returning 3-pt shooters in Allen and Kennard. In addition, Jones, Jackson, and Tatum can all knock down the trey. What's scary about this dook team is that they have three big freshmen who are all potentially as good or better than any big on our team. The combination of those two things will be hard to beat.
Meanwhile, I have every hope that this year's UNC team will shoot better from downtown, hell we almost have to seeing as how we were ranked something like 230th nationally last year. So while I expect us to shoot better from long range, I sure wouldn't compare our shooters with dook's.
I think we can hold our own with dook if: JJ, Joel, and Isaiah are stellar night in and night out. We also need consistent production from Kennedy, Tony, Nate, and one of Kenny/Brandon/7th. But don't fool yourselves, this is an immensely talented dook team, similar to the Davis led UK team that won it all. Hubert could coach this dook team to the FF, even with his lack of experience.

You have to relax. It's 3 games and you're calling a kid a bust? Would you be doing this if he went to UNC last year (as he would have if we didn't have the NCAA mess)...
MJ shot 5 for 16 in his first game...good thing you weren't coaching the Bulls in 84-85 or he would have been benched.
Ingram was all about UNC until the dook interest came. He might want to use it(NCAA mess) as a cover story but he always had a hard on for dook.
He has been quoted saying that he thinks he would have gone to UNC if the mess hadn't been there. I'm not making this up, him and his father both said "it played a big factor". Opinions of posters vs. quotes. I'll go with quotes.
Yeah, pretty much how it was, his dad was the Tar heel fan and the kid (was himself a duke fan) basically was able to use the scandal as his reason for passing on UNC but that was nothing but smoke. That was not a well kept secret, pretty well known actually.
I know he was always a dook fan , but the early recruiting love came from Carolina , but as soon as dook showed interest it was over for the Heels and nothing to do with NCAA mess.
Dad may have thought so , Brandon just blowing hot air. He had a "dookie hard on" for a long time. Brandon was trying to save face with Reggie and Stack.

I am of the thought that were it not for the scandal, Ingram would have come to UNC. But is it also not possible that him and his dad were just saying the right things when being interviewed?
Is that the right thing though? How do you feel if you're Duke and you're hearing your new top recruit is saying things like that? That's why they all try to push it under the rug by saying he wanted to go to Duke all along.
No other recruit goes, "well, if it wasn't for this, I would have gone there". They all just say "thanks to all the schools that recruited me but school X is the best for me".
