Tatum suffers foot injury

We live in a funny world, you are supposed to say the right things and if you don't you are in some way less human. Now sure, I prefer we beat duke when duke is at full strength so they can have no excuses. But we beat duke last season and they didn't have Jefferson, do ya really think I enjoyed that win any less, did any of you enjoy that win any less? Who wants to give that win back to the dukies just cause they didn't have Jefferson?

Injury is part of the game, it is adversity and winners over come adversity. Duke fans, just like UNC fans could care less who was not able to play when the teams meet, only thing they care about is winning that game and being able to boast about it for the following few days. In Henson's freshman season we set a new NCAA record for numbers of games missed by players due to injury, we didn't just set the record we blew the old record away. That season we had season ending injuries to starters, do ya really think duke fans enjoyed their wins that season over us any less? No they didn't, matter of fact they laughed at us for ending up in the NIT that season...

I am not saying we should not play them if they are hurt.

I am saying, I want to play them at full strength and dominate them.

If they are hurt, you can't change that.

But, I am not of the mindset of I hope their players get hurt so we can beat them. i am of the mindset I think we can beat them regardless and would rather beat them at their best.

End of story. I don't care who they trot out their. I want to win the game. I am not hoping, wishing, or welcoming an injury of a kid trying to make a future for himself to achieve that though.

No one "hopes" any player is getting hurt. That's ridiculous and that's some word bending that I suspect the duke fans are doing in that thread they have over at DI.

I and others are simply saying that I won't be disappointed if Tatum can't play in our games. That's it.

There is no "right" or "wrong" in this, just that I feel its sort of lame to be okay that we play them at less than full strength. All my years playing sports at a high level I actually craved competing against the best, so of course my view is coming from a different angle than just being a fan. But even just from a fans point of view, Id hate to play them at less than their full strength and have them have a built in excuse.

I do agree that I wouldn't complain in the slightest of dook was without either Giles or Tatum for a game. I want to beat them either way, especially at their strongest, but if they weren't available for either game, it's convenient.

They sure wouldn't have cared if Brice or Marcus hadn't played last year due to an injury. Would've made their prospects of winning against us easier.

That being said, as we all agree, we never root for a player to get hurt. And if he does, we wish them a full recovery.

The fact that K got a scare that his title hopes may have been going down the drain was worth the discussion. Probably had to go with with an extra coat of hair color after the Tatum scare. K-Rat, The Leader of Men.

On the other hand........Mmmm hmmmmm. I don't believe a word out of that rat's mouth.

Sorry, but after reading some of your posts on DI, I can't help but see your posts here in a different light.

Haha ok. I'm sure next I'll be hearing I'm a closet duke fan or some nonsense. if I said something over there that you disagree with you should have said it over there. I can't help how you see my posts and I frankly don't regret anything I've posted on either site, sooo yeah.

Perhaps you shouldn't post anything over there that you wouldn't post here. That's my policy.

There's nothing over there that I posted that I wouldn't post here. I'm not sure why you are singling me out, either. And sorry, I don't post based on anyone else's "policy" of what's "ok" to post. No offense, but I find this pretty childish. What's your point or purpose? Are you going to call out other thr posters who post over there as well? Because I find it very very hard to believe I'm the only one who's offended you with my postings over there...

Butt, let me try to give you some insight on one of the issues that have been a sore spot in the past. First, I have not visited the Duke board in a long time, so I don't know what you post over there. There is one trait that I recommend you avoid as much as possible. In chat board language it's called "feeding the wolves". Let me give you an example. Lets say one of the Duke posters makes a comment that a particular UNC poster is a "deadbeat". Then the UNC poster chimes in and agree with the Duke poster and add in negative comments about the UNC poster. This is called "feeding the wolves". The Duke posters love UNC fans that visit their board to assist them in chopping up UNC fans. Not saying you do this because I don't visit their board and have not reviewed any of your comments. I look at it as a respect issue. One should never criticize a UNC poster on a rival chat board. Don't feed the wolves. Again, not saying you are guilty of this, but "feeding the wolves" will tick some folks off over here. If you are going to criticize a UNC poster, then keep it in house. I have been posting on this board for several years and there has been several UNC posters guilty of feeding the wolves. In most cases, the UNC posters eventually are baited and banned from the Duke site. You will never see a Duke fan posting on our site that is critical of other Duke fans. They just don't do it. If they did, they would get banned from the Duke site. Our Mods don't ban UNC fans for what they post on other sites. It's just a protocol issue. I disagree with a lot of UNC posters on this site, but I will never criticize them on a rival site. Never have...never will.

Yep, there are literally pages of posts on DI dedicated to a couple of our regular posters( #1 and #2 on the dookie 10 most wanted list, if you will). They delight in roasting them in particular and anything UNC related in general.

I don't post there at all anymore but I do visit occasionally to get a laugh, just as I do Crack Ride. When I do go to DI, I usually take a few minutes to read the nonsense on their 100+ page UNC thread. That's how I happened across BB's comments.

So BB, post whatever you want, wherever you want. But don't be surprised if someone cites what you write on another board. It's all in the public domain.

Tatum and Giles will be in the lineup vs UNC barring any future injuries
I think K-Rat is the only Dookie not happy about this. Heard he is very distraught about them missing ANY games....even the exhibition games.

K, The Leader of Men always doing what is best for his players. Hallelujah!

Just to add, you are right, there is over a 100 page thread there that is all about THU posters and yet here, how often do you see even the slightest mention of DI posters unless we are addressing something they say on this board? In and of itself that is bad enough but to see Tar Heels join in and degrade THU posters that do not post on DI is really a sad thing to see. It is an act of strong disrespect to the posters on this site and this site as a whole.

Well, yeah 2 weeks this time but what if this reoccurs, no need to risk it, give it this season to totally heal and then decide to either play for duke or enter the draft...;)

The 100 page.... ONE HUNDRED PAGES !!!!!!! thread devoted to US and our posters that the doochies have over there at that sewer they call a website, is so revealing and defines their basic insecurity as a fan base.

The FACT they devote so much attention to what we say HERE...and the FACT WE devote so LITTLE attention to what is said THERE, is just fantastic from my perspective. They have a massive inferiority complex and they display it every day.

please keep it up doochies ...you are a never ending source of amusement and entertainment for us...when we bother to take notice.

Yeah, Dave. Makes no sense to risk the multimillion dollar careers of those two poster boys for the Only After Dineros culture. The only prudent thing to do is shut them down for the season.

dook = drink of our koolaid

;)

Yeah, him and another poster seem to like bashing our own on DI, pretty sad. I often wonder if that poster is the same person, very similar posts and relatively new.

Even better if Tatum and Giles can get an exception and apply the "Kyrie Irving RULE". The Kyrie Irving Rule allows a Duke player to play a few games for Duke and jump to the NBA and exclude Duke completely as the college attended on the player profile. The Kyrie Irving Rule allows a player to list his player profile as "jumping directly to the NBA from high school" excluding the college name altogether. That's one of the reasons I love Kyrie Irving as a player. Officially, he never attended Duke. Just like Labron James and many others, Kyrie Irving jumped directly from high school to the NBA. Duke is not listed on his player profile.

Waaah cry me a river. "Bashing our own". Get over yourself. No, we are not the same person. And yes, there are about 4 of Us who thinks that dsouth posts like a 3rd grader. And yes we said it over there as well as over here. It's no big secret. If you all are so butt hurt over it say it straight out here instead of beating around the bush, but keep in mind while your being holier than thou that very often said poster was the first to go on the attack in almost every thread.

Also, why archer decided to call me out I have no idea. I haven't even posted over there in days and there are plenty of other thr guys who have who have said things that I'm sure wouldn't sit well with the apparent taddle tale crowd here.

It's obvious the point Steat and I were trying to make went right over your head. So, if you wish to provide entertainment for the dookies at our expense, by all means carry on. That's your prerogative.

You seem to be advocating a sort of sheep mentality here as IN thr=good and DI =bad.
Sorry, I don't go along with that line of thinking. I will post what I feel regardless of wether a certain group likes it and another doesn't.

I'm a unc fan who enjoys the rivalry. On the court I dislike duke as much as anyone here trust me. But...Just because I have a membership here doesn't mean I've signed into some imaginary message board lemming club where only certain thoughts are allowed.

I'm still not sure why you think I need you holding my hand and explaining to me how message boards work. I got exactly what he was saying. Like I said, just because I joined here doesn't mean I've given away my right to say what I want when I want where I want. If you feel like that's something you can't deal with or you've figured I'm a certain type of poster who irritates you- I'm sure there's a multitude of ways you can opt out of my posts. Problem solved.

BB, if that's what you got out of Steat's post, then maybe it did go right over your head. Or, you know what he says is right and your feelings are hurt because you know that.

Methinks you doth protest too loudly.

Remember, you're the one who chose to start this. I'm simply stating that I won't let the thought police tell me what I can and can't post. (Which is more or less what steats post comes down to) There's nothing for me to protest or defend. The fact that you think there is tells me you should probably find a hobby, or at the very least mind your own business.

yeah just for the record, Butterbutt and I are not the same person.

I don't know, cb34. I mean, your likes to total messages ratio is virtually identical (62.9% to 62.7%), which means you provide the same quality of content. And you replied within a minute of bb. So you're probably the same person, just using two different browsers.

But seriously, why does it matter if one board member sees things differently? Why does it matter if someone goes to another site and criticizes someone? I don't think they do it because they're a secret Dook fan. I think they do it because they view some of the thoughts, opinions, and statements embarrassing to our fanbase. Perhaps a little insecure, but I'm guessing they want others to know that not all Carolina fans think like that. Imagine that.

Yeah, you're wrong. Unless I'm a schizophrenic with a dual personality, I have no idea who butterbutt is or where he comes from.

Not all of us agree on everything, such is life.

BB, you were given some friendly advice re: airing our dirty laundry on a rival board(aka feeding the wolves). No one told you you couldn't do so, but that perhaps you should think twice about the wisdom of doing so, knowing all boards are public and that your posts there will sooner or later be public knowledge here.

Now you've obviously thought twice about it and have decided you see nothing wrong with it. Fair enough. As long as you realize that with free speech comes blow back if you say controversial things, it's all good. So take that for what you think it's worth and I'll agree to disagree.

As for Inferno's post, I think it's pretty obvious that there is great diversity of opinion on this board, much more than the mind meld that is DI.
