UNC at Pittsburgh game thread on: Tuesday 28 January 2025

I do not like this matchup at all as the Panthers are bigger height wise at every position. Pitt starts a seven footer and six eleven patrolling the paint and if that is not bad enough both of their starting guards average close to 15 points a game and they both are six three. I have no idea who is going to cover one of the giant bigs because Powell is only six six and Trimble and Jackson are barely six three.

Carolina cannot shoot 30 three pointers and expect to win so the foursome of: Cadeau, Davis, Jackson and Trimble have to constantly go to the hole and either score or get a trip to the free throw line. UNC also needs to get some scoring production from Washington, Withers and Lubin and those three also need to hold their own when it comes to rebounding and not getting into serious foul trouble.

I do not see how Carolina can press the Pittsburgh guards so I wonder if Coach Davis has considered playing a zone against them until they can prove they can hit from the outside.

UNC needs this game really bad and we must hope that grit, skill and sheer determination can offset the home crowd noise and the very big size advantage at every position for the Panthers…

Worried about the size on the front line as well, especially if JWash is tender with his knee, hopefully not, but even with him 100% it is a problem area.

Pitt has been a tough go for UNC lately, especially in the "zoo". They have been scuffling a bit too of late and will be reved up to get back to how they started the year.

Gonna have to shoot it well tonight. Always the case, especially with this roster, but knock down a solid % on three's I hope and get out of town with a "W", would be a huge road win if they can.

Truth be know we don't seem to have a lot to match up with them unless the outside shot will fall and even with that we would have to depend on a well coached game plan .. Pitt puts a tree in the lane to protect and the outside shots aint falling .. this game is over early. Pitt at home with some of Capels zebra home cooking ?? We'll see ..
