UNC vs Kentucky Game Thread

Heels fought back but HOW can you leave off Monk when up by 2? After about the first 10 minutes of this game Monk should've had someone within 2 feet of him ALL THE TIME on offense. Every posession.
Monk another three after a Jackson missed ft 101-100. Yea the Britt haters will find a way to blame him although he was not covering Monk much tonight. Nor did he missed any free throws.

How do we let dude go off for damn near 50? Just have a guy shadow everything he does...why zone and all this other shit where the man guarding him loses him...Damn! Great fight but gotta find a way to pull these out. That Hicks shot was inexcusable. He panicked.
Like the effort. Disappointed in late game coaching. Proud of Berry and Jackson. Disappointed in the pathetic defense on Monk. Need Theo back in a bad way.
Great game by JJ but he has to make that free throw to go up 3. On the other end you have to know Hicks isn't getting a call and take that into consideration.
With our AAAAA defender watching on the bench. We are OK

We knew Kentucky was a 2 man show in Fox and Monk, and it wasn't a surprise. Monk, however, made so many tough contested shots. Just wow... Like... wow... A bit in shock.
I mean, looking back at this game we are going to see that Free Throws lost us the game, but it is even hard to pin it on that as Bradley shot so well from the line than he usually does.
I do think if Justin Jackson finishes the 3 point play at the end to give us a 3 point lead that the result we just saw didn't happen. Even if Monk makes the three, we have the ball and it is tied. Just wow.

The killer was Berry not recognizing time and score. Up 2 with the ball and 15 seconds left on the shot clock, 23 left in the game, is not the time for a driving lefty layup. That cost them the game.
JJ and Berry w fantastic games. Big shout out to Luke he hit some timely shots (3s!) ...Isaiah got going just a bit too late. Hate we lost but showed some grit and I can dig that.
I honestly do not think Theo Pinson would have done much to change the outcome here. People forget that Williams is likely as good a defender as Pinson. The question becomes, if his rebounding and offense would have outweighed Williams. Answer is maybe the rebounding.
Hate that we lost, but this was one hell of a game. Regardless of coaching/game decisions/whatever-to-blame, I enjoyed every second of it.
Dude just shot the hell out of the ball while contested most the time and you all are blaming coaches. Wtf is wrong with you all. We just watched an all time great game from an individual player and great game of basketball.

Great games by Berry, Jackson and Maye. Also some good minutes by Bradley. Hicks has the lowest basketball IQ of anybody we have had in a while. Some of the fouls he commits are just mind boggling for a senior. Also, stepping back and letting Monk hit they last three. Typical day from Hicks that we've come to expect during his career. Flashes of greatness followed by just idiotic stuff. Also, we have got to get more from our starting shooting guard. He can't score 2 points and play the minutes he played. Same for Britt. They gave us Zero. And good lord Monk had a day. Great college basketball game but sick and tired of being in the losing end frankly. I liked Roys fire with that technical early. I think the refs let Kentucky get away with quite a bit more on the boards and in the paint but that usually happens for a team who's the aggressor while we were on our heels literally most of the day.
Theo wins this game for UNC had he been 100%. He is the exact type of defender you throw at a guy like Monk. Despite some missed ft's this is the kinda game that I have wanted to see from Jackson. I mean something simple as instead of Adebayo's missed dunk that bounced thru doesn't and Tony's missed dunk bounces thru and it's a different game very easily. It was a good showing. They will learn a lot from this just need to apply it in March.
As someone who can be critical of our team a bit often, this is not the game to do so.
Not the most religious guy here, but shun might be right, that game was a gift from College B-Ball gods, and people are already finding ways to complain the 2nd it's over. What a shame.
