UNC vs Louisville GAME THREAD

Uneasy atm. We has very little inside and relied on great ft shooting in the 1st half. Hopefully we can replicate it this half.

Berry has 18 points . . Theo 11, Kenny 7. . Our wings are carrying us thus far.

Oh my goodness. I do not like this lineup right now. The guys last played on Monday. Can’t most of the starters go rest of the way?

Never would have seen 5 in a row coming. Kudos to roy and the team.

Got back to driving the ball to the rack and letting Pinson handle the ball more has been incredible.

Let’s go get another one @ Cuse.

Oh my goodness everything about the last 8 minutes was awesome! That block by Berry at the rim on a breakaway should be legendary. And how about Pinson dishing the no look with like 3 on the shot clock to Luke for the dagger. So sweet. These juniors and seniors are showing the value of their experience. I thought even our freshmen bigs and 7th held their own pretty well tonight.

Solid road victory. The "Ville" never got it under 7 in the second half. That certainly helps to minimize the home crowd. Very nice road win.
They get 12 more FT attempts than the Heels (and I think the only FTs in the second half were late on intentionals on Theo) and we win by 17... nice. Great work all around. If you look at the box score, this may be the most balanced effort of the year. All 5 starters in double figures - all stepping up at different times in the game, all contributing something we needed.

i LOVE the way this team generally is moving the ball and getting good shots, nobody's a ball hog, nobody's a black hole, everyone knows what they're supposed to do, and how to run the offense, and where they should look to score (like Theo's Harlem Globetrotter trick shots in the lane...)

They can definitely have trouble if they go against teams with multiple very good athletic bigs..... we always knew that. Any other team, I'll take our chances. I love the way this team is playing.

I will respectfully disagree .. I think this team will do really well against the bigger teams because the quickness and athleticism will negate the size. Did great tonight against a big team .. beat dook who's supposed to have the best bigs in the league .. and I absolutely love the way this TEAM is playing too. The inside / outside game on offense is coming along well and the defense is getting better as well. Roy played the bigs with the lead to get them so experience and we took a step back but this was a great win !!

I wouldn’t say solid but it’s a win and we will take it. Louisville just isn’t very good.

They aren't a classic Louisville squad, but going on the road and winning by 17, never letting it get closer then 7 in the 2nd half qualifies as solid work in my book. Hell, Louisville was a 1 point favorite, and the computer model had it a 51/49% toss up game. We won going away on the road in a conference game. You obviously grade much tougher then I do.

Most years it would be a solid win but they just ain’t that good this year. With everything going on and losing their coach I didn’t expect them to be that great. When I saw they was favored I couldn’t help but laugh. I never was worried about losing to them. They play hard but just don’t scare me in the least.

Like Roy says, it's a whole lot prettier when the ball goes in the basket. We were 12-27 from 3, if we were 7-27 from 3, we have a ballgame on our hands in the 2nd half. I agree that this was a solid win, but if we don't shoot as well as we did, does that mean we played poorly?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess. Louisville is not great this year, but with the main metric the tournament committee uses, beating them on the road does qualify as a quality win in their eyes. Beating a tier 2 team on the road are exactly the type wins that help with seeding for "the big dance".

I stand corrected, as of now, it qualifies as a tier 1 win. (Top 30 at home, top 50 at a neutral site, TOP 75 ON THE ROAD).

I wasn't sure why Platek didn't play last night, and then I read that he had a concussion in practice. I hope he won't miss much time. He's become a solid contributor off the bench.

Yea probably not my best post and it sounded better in my head than it came across here. It was mostly just throwing shade at them because they can barely defend a statue so they switched more to zone lately out of necessity. Zone has been working for them though apparently at least that's what I heard from Gary Parish on his podcast. I haven't watched them lately to form my own conclusions.

That's a great point about Luke, in games early in the season when he wasn't able to get going early offensively he would have trouble all night and it would hurt our team, but Saturday he was able to find other ways to get involved especially getting on the offensive glass where his first 6 points came from. This took a toll on Louisville defensively as we had 17 offensive boards and 22 seconds chance points. It kept him active in the game and allowed him to keep his confidence which benefited us later as he got going offensively scoring 13 points under the 8 minute mark.

Luke hits on it in the postgame and I agree, I think this game showed something about how he has grown as a player as he realized that his play is super important to this team and how he needs to continue to stay confident because he can impact games in other ways and that some nights it may just take him a little longer to get going, the main thing however, is that he is still aggressive throughout the game. It's also kind of funny that he had a pretty silent night and still ends the game with 19 &13 for his 14th double/double of the season.

Our upperclassmen are stepping up and providing excellent leadership. We may not have a single future NBA player on our team but what we do have is a synergistic, experienced group of very good team players.

One cannot overstate the value of experience.
