UNC vs Wisconsin Game Thread

I really like Nigel's game but he has been awful for Wisconsin this game.

This team is really good. Even to get that last three the Badgers has to basically hold one of our guys to get him open.

Like to see that this team can play fast, slow, transition, halfcourt, nothing bothers us very much. Should be a nice, deep season.

Berry slices to the hole and scores again like a hot knife thru swiss cheese. It is like Wisconsin has waved the white flag of surrender during the pregame warm up drills.

WE are IMO a more balanced team that we were last season, at least at this point. O as well feel we have more of an attacking mindset, we attack on both ends of the court and we do it constantly, didn't feel we always attacked last season. Roy had to spend a lot of time and effort coaching intensity last season and ya never really knew how much of it we would get for any particular game. This team seems to bring the intensity to every game, Hawaii so far being the lone exception and that is understandable due to the long trip schedule. To me that is the Joel/Theo foot print a little more on this team than last season and I see that attacking mentality coming across in our other players, Nate was a better defender last season than he had been but that lil kat has really taken that up another gear.

I agree Dave. Joel sets the tone for this team, offensively and defensively. But it's on defense where he really amps up the intensity level of the whole team. These guys seem to "get it" defensively, in that they understand that defense, while hard work, can be just as much fun as offense. And that defense is an extension of offense in it's propensity to generate higher percentage shots. This team has the potential to be as good a defensive team as we've had in a while. And our second best defensive player is on the bench. If Theo can return at 90% of his former self and get his game legs back by mid season...

Arch, I think there is one more very big factor on the defensive end, they seem to trust each other a bit more. Don't see as many guys feeling the need to help as much as I have seen, they can stay closer to their own assignments and not be forced in to so many scrambles. Notice, we tend to get in to more scrambles when the freshmen are in, Tony is getting much better at not helping out so far that he can not recover back.

I think that's true, Dave. Success builds confidence, which in turn breeds more success. Defense is truly a team concept and can only be executed at a very high level if everyone does their job and just as importantly, trusts others to do their job, providing help when needed but not leaving their man/zone otherwise.
