UPDATED - How Did Cam Johnson's Visit Go & Where Do We Stand

I guess peeps are right and I should lose confidence in Roy's recruiting! The game is swiftly passing the back-to-back champ game, three time Champ, and current National Champion, HOF Coach!

If this goes like it should and Pitt blinks in this game of chicken, back troubles are in the future for some of those "better" coaches! I hope he comes and drops 30 on the pukies, mooers, and kitties respectively!

Welcome to the Hill, Mr. Johnson . . !

I'm loving this, just awesome news to hear of.

"The family culture, the tradition and Roy Williams," Gilbert Johnson explained about the decision. "I have family in that area as well. The tradition and the culture. They have a winning culture."

i'm sure pitt was hoping he'd pick another school so they wouldn't have to deal with the waiver request, but now the ball's in their court. it makes no sense for them to deny the waiver, sending a message to potential recruits that they don't respect their own graduates. why would they suffer a hit to their recruiting just to avoid playing against cam in one game they're unlikely to win anyway? on the other hand, how many times have we seen acc schools throw reason out the window when it comes to carolina -- when their envy and hatred supplanted their enlightened self-interest? i hope pitt does the smart thing.

Alright!! Loving this. An offense with Joel, Kenny/Jalek, Theo, Cam, and anyone at the 5 is going to be really good. 3 good shooters to spread the floor (4 if Luke played small-ball 5) and 2-3 creators in Joel, Theo, and Jalek.

Huge pickup! Really excited to see him play in Carolina Blue. Great player and seems like a great representative for the university. If he and/or Theo can share minutes with Luke at the 4, I really like the potential of our offense. The remaining questions for our team would just be rim protection and if we can come anywhere close to the beastly rebounding of last year. Whichever of the 3 freshman bigs can defend and rebound should play, pretty much regardless of their expected offensive contribution.

Cameron Johnson told ESPN he has committed to North Carolina despite Pittsburgh putting in appeal that he can't transfer to another ACC school. "It's still in limbo, but Coach (Roy) Williams and the staff are confident I will be able to play next year at North Carolina. I trust them."

NCAA and ACC says it is "Illegal" to prevent Cam from playing next season. Pencil him into the starting line-up.

At the very worst, Cam was willing to sit out a year to play 2 here at UNC. With UNC's legal help, I hope he is successful in his battle with Pitt U. and is eligible for this upcoming season . .

Billy, where are you getting that Cam is willing to sit out a year? I may have missed something.

Everything I have read indicates he is not willing to sit out a year, and only has 2 years of eligibility left regardless of where he transfers. The 5 years to play 4 rule. The next 2 years will be Cam's year 4 and year 5 and it's over then.

i have no problem with undergrad transfers sitting out a year to discourage schools from raiding and poaching other programs. but after a kid has graduated -- that's different. we should not be punishing kids for graduating by limiting their post-grad options.

The fact that he's transferring here without being fully released means he understands there is a possibility he has to sit out a year.
