What an idiot teacher. I had no prob with my kids learning about other religions in high schooL and college and they did. But to have a kid write out the muslim statement of faith given the world political climate and recent events is just mind boggling. And the level of support for the teacher shocks me.

It pleases me to read that some of the class refused to participate. Good for them. I don't support the teacher being fired but I'm glad for the backlash. Why in the hell are they even teaching anything about Islam in high school? That wasn't part of the curriculum when I was in high school. That shit is better suited to college - where people choose the courses they want to take.

The curriculum is actually more robust than that, but you get the idea.

My high school Latin teacher taught us all about Roman mythology. To this day, I still wonder how I was able to escape Jupiter's vise-like grasp.

Sarcasm aside, the teacher and the school should've known they'd need to navigate through the course material more carefully considering the current political environment. But good grief, if your child can be converted to Islam by a high school geography teacher then what does that say about your parenting?

yes the one who committed the Ft. Hood massacre was a Muslim serving in the armed forces. 51% of Muslims think they should be governed by Sharia law in the U.S. and an almost like percentage feel some violence is justified when their religion is attacked. They have no desire to assimilate in U.S. society and to practice the freedoms taken for granted in the U.S.

Ireland was not over religion, it was over unification of Ireland. Basically, most of Northern Ireland is Protestant and continually voted to stay with the U.K. Catholics weren't killing Protestants over religions, it was over nationality.
