It felt good to get out of the rain

Holy shot bern through like 7 hurricanes and this is easily one of the worst storms ever and inoone saw it coming. It didn’t even have a name or a number or anything. There was like a 50% chance of rain and gusty winds forecast for today. Well a tropical storm spun up out of nowhere right offshore and proceeded to drop 20 in of rain in 12 hrs with 50mph wind gusts. Fuking Armageddon. Trees down, power out, massive flooding. Kids stranded at school cause parents can’t reach them. Wild.

Worse than getting kicked by a horse with no name?

That rain has moved my way. Nothing as crazy as Wilmington, but definitely flash flood material. I've got a couple of rivers developing in my backyard.

But you still had internet? Lol. Glad you're ok. Freak storms like that are the worst because no one takes the time to prepare.

Nope lost internet but this newfangled gadget you young kids are always staring at called a cell phone relies on the 5k network. But yea everyone was totally caught off guard

Saw some of the video on the news, looked not fun. I'd liken this to what people go through in those areas with significant tornado activity. What starts off as just a thunderstorm and goes through rather quickly a 100 times in a row suddenly spins up a bunch of tornados and there is devastation everywhere. The lack of or inability to predict and warn people becomes the really decisive factor.

The scariest part was the kids stuck at school compelling their parents to go out in life threatening flooding to retrieve them. It really is fortunate no one has died yet. As of today most of carolina beach is still covered with standing water.

This one has a name... Helene... and, it looks like a fvcking mess. The worst storm threat around here in a long time. Western NC is already in flood warnings and the worst part will be here in the morning.

Tallahassee waffle houses are closed. Shits about to get real when that happens. The seven or so I’ve been through here never closed the waffle houses. They have back up generators and the line would be around the building of the one near my house after storms.

Biltmore village already has pretty bad flooding and they’re saying the French Broad may hit record levels. Asheville is gonna be a shitshow

I dunno where I'd rather be in this. I dunno how bad it will be at the coast. But, this is the most concern I've had about a Hurricane since Hugo when I lived in Surfside Beach, SC! Spent that night in Conway High School shelter.

My cousin lives in Jasper, GA. Girlfriend lives in Athens now. I just hope the sustained winds don't do too much damage, but I'm expecting at least a loss of power. It will probably be a restless night/morning.

Up your way, looks like the most overall rainfall. 7-9" or more? Sheezus! I was going to hike Table Rock in a few weeks. The water will be falling all over the place from the run-off of the Blue Ridge Escarpment.

We got heavy rain last night and early this morning as well so the ground is already saturated and water levels are up. Pretty much the worst possible combo.

I had a trail race this past weekend, I guess I got lucky that this crap didn't get here a week earlier.

There's nowhere to go... just wait-it-out and hang on. I've helped neighbors secure things outdoors. It's not like the tornado that hit here in 2020. Hurricanes can take hours to leave.

Heading to Ocracoke for two weeks in the morning. I hope all the bad stuff is over. The western part of NC took a lick. We are having some bad flooding but nothing like Ashville and the surrounding area.
