Well, well dook...

I Hate dook, HATE dook, HATE DOOK!!! - but that effer for State took TEN STEPS (slight exaggeration) on the way to the hoop! Serves dook right for all the BLATANT travels, flops and fouls they have gotten away with for YEARS.

But man, C'mon, dude picked up his dribble well outside the 3 point line and ran it in from the 10 yard line for a TD. REFS ARE A JOKE!!!

Still glad dook lost though..... :D:D:D

No inside game
No true PG

Tatum is playing for that top 5 pick. Allen is distraction. Giles is playing at about 70%. Kennard is there best player. The rest of them are role players at best.

They'll get a favorable draw because they are dook and will make it to the Sweet 16 where they'll get slapped around by super athletic team and lose by about 15-20 to end the season.

DSJ was great tonight.

Duke is seriously flawed. Add in the fact that Capel is really not a great in game coach and they are in trouble.

Coach K must have known something about this team and that is why out of no where he decided to have back surgery
It's a theory many on here voiced, albeit in not-so-gentle terms.
Whilst I don't like making fun of anyone's health issues, the timing is beginning to look fishy.

better theory - he re-instated Allen knowing how flawed the team was-knowing Capel would need full deck..as for the back, he held out as long as possible..remember, his previous leave of absence was endured until last moment

This is one of the dangers when you go the OAD route, your guys don't gel. No doubt they have a ton of talent but they don't play well together at all.

Give me our guys who have been playing together 3-4 years over those OAD programs.

Been saying this for a while.

Anything is possible, but the dookie are going to have to get it together to get 10+ wins in conference.

They still go to Wake, ND, UVA, play us twice. Still have FSU at home. Pretty sure they go to Miami too.

I have watched dook a few times and Tatum is a real talent BUT a REAL ball hog. Once he gets the ball at the top of the key or anywhere 15 feet out, he is gonna go 1 0n1 to the hoop.... you can almost guarantee it. tonight, he lost the ball at the end on a behind the back dribble that went off his foot.

Moo almost pissed this one away by missing several FTS down the stretch

Love to see the doochies and their arrogant fans suffer defeat.... makes me happy!!!

I would caution everyone from celebrating their demise. It's still only January and we know that K is going to come back at some point. Always happy when they lose, but there's too much talent on this team for them to bow out mid season. I suspect they'll rebound once K comes back. They're biggest holes are lack of a true PG, K being out, and not being able to gel on either side of the ball.

But if it's one thing I've learned over the years, it's unwise to underestimate them. Even now when they appear to be at their worst. By the time we play them I think it'll be a different story.

ESPN and dook will make sure that Ratty returns on February 9th, book it. It's a CASH COW.

And yes, couldnt agree more. They will make a run in the league, but this sure if fun in the meantime!

I vastly overrated them being without a point guard. I thought this was going to be a thing where someone like Jon Scheyer moved positions pretty flawlessly.

I probably bought into Giles too, when in reality, he might be another 2 years away before he's completely 100% and puts all his injuries behind him.

I thought they were going to roll through the season pretty easy if they were healthy. Though I think health is a big factor in their struggles, it clearly isn't all of it. They've had a lot of distractions (many self inflicted) as well.

Right now, you can make a reasonable argument that they're not a top 25 team. They're a mess and they're in pretty much unchartered waters.

Will be interesting how their players react to this kind of atmosphere.

So, will dook drop out of the top 25 like they should after these last few weeks? Let's see if the pollsters have any guts or brains. I'm not puttin' any money on it.

They have lost 3 of their last 4, and 4 of their last 7. No way they should stay in the polls.

4 big issues on that team:
- no PG
- not enough defense
- not enough rebounding
- not enough basketballs

4th one is spot on. I'll assume since you know what you're talking about the other 3 are too. But I'm in total agreement with the last one, I think that one is the most true.

And in all seriousness, as for the Rat's impact, and many will scoff, but do NOT underestimate the impact of K's ref intimidation. It's the single biggest thing they don't have when the Rat is not on he sidelines.

& speaking of refs intimidated by K, I have not seen Brian Kersey on any ACC game yet this year, or any game at all for that matter. Wondering if he's ok, did he retire, fed up of listening to K's BS? Anyone know?

Duke is in a bad situation right now.

Capel has been negatively recruiting, especially against UK for a while. They got lucky in 2015 and it made OAD recruits look at Duke like UK.2

These top 15 players today are a thin line. Everything can go from good to bad inside of a year in their recruitments. He's handled Bolden terribly, Allen returned and now will miss out on millions and he will more than likely never see the first round again. Tatum isn't meshing with the team. Giles is 70% and coasting. This is not the way you recruit top 15 players today. It's going to hurt Duke in that regard. UNC and the ACC should see them slow down pulling in so many OAD talents from this point forward unless Duke turns it around quick. Capel won't be able to negatively recruit against Cal, Miller, Self etc from this point forward, he'll be busy defending himself and K.

For an example, Cal was hammered over the platoons, and it didn't even really matter. Everyone ate, played well, and left when the situation was right. It STILL scared off about 7 recruits from the 2015 class.

Eh,

I don't think he's really that great. He'll go first round on potential, but I don't expect much. He was totally overrated. I just see a solid 4 star / 3 year payer personally. Probably an NBA hang around for a while. Comparisons to Skal are way off though.

Giles isn't the Giles of 2014. They won't see him in a Duke uniform. Bolden is a 3/4 year player that made a huge mistake in picking Duke. Jackson was way overrated and isn't a point guard.

This is what happens from time to time when you're trying to run with a recruiting system for OAD players. Duke really got lucky in 2015 with a good group and easy NCAA road. It won't be the norm. K can't mesh these guys year after year the way Cal can. He's more of a long term system coach.

All imo.
