A few years ago, Matta was raking in recruits like crazy. Now they suck to the highest of sucktivity. Didnt even make the NIT this year. I think his butt is on the hot seat. Recruits came to realize Matta sucks as a coach.

Funny thing is I saw many peeps that rated him as a better coach than Roy! (a few on here!) Love it when the flavor of the month falls by the wayside and HOF Roy just keeps on trucking!

Go Heels!

He had a really good recruiting class last year, then 4 out of 5 of them transferred after their freshman season. I wouldn't be surprised if he was on the hot seat.

Haven't thought about Ohio St. Basketball since Sullinger left.

A recruit and his parents fell for some negative recruiting recently from another school and called up Matta and had the following conversation:

Parent: "Listen coach, we're going to have to delay our commitment to Ohio State."
Matta: "That's totally fine. Can I ask why?"
Parent: "Well, it's health reasons."
Matta: "Oh wow, what's going on?"
Parent: "...no. It's your health reasons."
Matta: "What's wrong with me?"
Parent: "Well we were told you were dying..."

True story. Any coach that negatively recruits and says another coach is "dying" has a whole mess of bad karma in store down the road.

Is there a source for this?

It is hard to blame Matta. Ohio State is a football first school and if you are going there for basketball, you are going to be second fiddle. Most want to be the big dog on campus. Thus, most of his recruits are basically limited (for the most part) of local and nearby talent. Whenever Ohio and surrounding area talent is good and not being poached by the big schools; Ohio State usually is good. However, there has been a lack of talent in Ohio as of late and the biggest name in the area lately was poached by Duke in Luke Kennard, which had to of hurt immensely.

Why did they transfer?
who knows really, Matta said in an interview that he told them at some point in the season that he was going to start coaching basketball the way he wanted to and that some of them were going to transfer and that was fine. He also told them to just send him a text when they decided to transfer because he was tired of looking at them, which i found hilarious.

Respect.

Russell was just the #2pick 2 drafts ago. I don't think he was expected to be OAD so guard play suffered.

Reporter: Roy have you heard you might have to coach against Matta the Great?
Roy: The Moo coaching search is like Mind over Matter.....If the fans have lost their minds, there's no Matta!

Provided he's telling the truth, I agree. Not sure how much good it would do though.

It would do alot of good.
College recruiting is very dirty and things like this need to be exposed.

How do you think these schools, corporate donors, alumni would feel knowing that their coaches are doing things like that?

IMO, it would be like anything else divisive and controversial. The fans/donors/alumni of the school of the guilty party would defend the coach and stand by him, and everyone else would bitch about it.

Example: Grayson Allen. Duke fans still roll with him because he's one of theirs. Other teams' fans despise him.

To me, it would play out the same with said coach. Hell, some fans/donors might even support it in a Machiavellian type of way. You also know some pundits would jump on Matta for being a snitch.
