Yet another fatal case of police brutality

So true. He did exactly what he told us he'd do - fundamentally change America. And I hate that. He could be impeached tomorrow and it wouldn't matter. He's already succeeded. So in his eyes, he's won. And I'm fearful that the damage is irreparable. The culture has been created. I simply don't think we can ever fix that. But we can stop it from getting worse.

So what you guys are saying is that because whenever these types of things happen and he says we need "gun control" he is creating or exacerbating this problem? What is wrong with better gun control? No one has one time said they are taking our guns but I have no problem with getting control of it. It would be fantastic if we had a way to keep them out of the hands of criminals who intend to do harm with them but of course that is impossible. So what is the answer? Let anyone and everyone get a gun no matter what??? Guns ONLY for hunting to feed your family (not sport)? Guns ONLY for protection by having a hand gun you keep by your bed or carry? What is it? What would YOU do if you were the president?

I am always amazed how every time something happens, it is Obama's fault. Why is that? I really do not understand that. I did not like Bush but I cannot blame him for everything everyone else does. I don't care that much for Obama either but really do not see why he is blamed for everything either.

In the specific issue we have discussed on this thread, what do you hope or believe Trump would have done differently? Maybe someone can convince me he is the man for the job. I really want to understand this.

Dude. Stop breaking things down into my team vs your team.
I'll also say this. To someone used to privilege, equality feels like oppression. Its easy to say that we should just stop talking about this race stuff and just get along when you're on the winning team.

Did you just break it down into teams?

LOL. Beat me to it. Roasted.

Nobody is saying you should be ashamed of being white. I'm certainly not ashamed of being white. But it isn't really something anybody should be proud of either is it?... It's not like you had anything to do with it. We were just born that way.

I agree with this. Neither of us had anything to do with being born white. We shouldn't be proud of it. Just like Black Pride, Girl Pride, and Gay Pride (since after all, studies have shown that being gay is something the person is born with) shouldn't exist either. People who are born White, Black, female, gay, or anything similar had nothing to do with it and shouldn't be "proud" of it. Embrace it sure, but having parades and months dedicated to being proud of something you were literally born into is mind boggling to me.

I actually recorded this on my DVR the other day and watched some of it. I had to stop though. This whole thing is starting to get to me. My daughter called me in tears this morning over the whole mess and I have no idea what to tell her.

Why did the guy start the interaction with "don't touch me"? Why wasn't it, "good evening officers...how can I help you?" Now I'm not saying that the cops were right for throwing the guy to the ground. But his initial interaction is exactly the problem. He's been conditioned to think that he can be as rude as he wants to cops - because BLM tells him to be. He's been conditioned to think the cops had bad intentions...because that's what our President is telling him. And maybe the cops did have bad intentions. But that dude is going to be flat on his face regardless. So why not try the tactic of being cordial, helpful and respectful and he might just avoid getting his head slammed into the pavement.

As far as what you tell your daughter, I like this:

"The more I think about the human suffering in our world and my desire to offer a healing response, the more I realize how crucial it is not to allow myself to become paralyzed by feelings of impotence and guilt. More important than ever is to be very faithful to my vocation to do well the few things I am called to do and to hold on to the joy and peace they bring me. I must resist the temptation to let the forces of darkness to pull me into despair and make me one more of their many victims. I have to keep my eyes fixed on Jesus and on those that followed him and trust that I will know how to live out my mission to be a sign of hope in this world."
- Henri Nouwen, Here And Now

I know that when I was younger, I got caught with a joint by cops and they told me to just hand it over and go home. That does not happen to others though....

Two of my friends (both white) went to jail for a large amount of weed.

First off -- for the first 4 years of his presidency, all we heard was "It's Bush's fault" -- I could probably go back and find exact quotes where he blames the Bush Admin for why it was such a challenge for him to fulfill his promises he made on his original campaign trail. So, please spare us this rhetoric.

.

I'm blaming him for chastising LEOs. I'm blaming him for not standing behind them and working behind closed doors to fix the small bit of corruptness that may exist. I blame him for not sending the message that disobeying or being disrespectful to LEOs is completely unacceptable. I blame him for having BLM to dinner at the white house instead of calling them out as a terrorist organization. I blame him for bringing up guns every time someone is killed instead of backing police efforts to catch criminals. I blame him for making excuses for criminals. I blame him for attempting to make white, Christians feel as if we've had it so good and others have had it so bad. I blame him for flip flopping on gay marriage. I blame him for being soft on ISIS and sympathetic to people halfway around the globe while ignoring domestic issues. I blame him for hating traditional America. And I blame him for being such a garbage President and leaving us with the two options that we are now faced with.

He'd stand behind law and order.

This was Trump's response:

"Prayers and condolences to all of the families who are so thoroughly devastated by the horrors we are all watching take place in our country."

That is about all he can say publicly and IMO is better than "My son could have been Trayvon"

Then today, Trump claims we need to "restore Law and Order." 100% agree.

That happens EVERY change of party administration though. I have come to expect it. The blame game is the only game lately.

Trump said that today because his new "guy" has told him to stop with the BS he said before. Two tragedies ago he was boasting on himself about it. Trump will say whatever he is told to say now. Everyone knew that was coming. They've got him now.

Oh...?

After Orlando nightclub shooting:

"We express our deepest sympathies to the victims, the wounded and their families. We mourn as one people for our nation's loss and pledge our support to any and all who need it."

So...what changed? Seems to be the same tune, to me.

Whether or not I as an individual break it down into teams is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. And it would be more than a bit hypocritical if I denied my own subconscious bias at this point dont ya think?... Regardless, society absolutely does break things down into teams. My point was just that a lot of people obviously think the status quo is perfectly acceptable, that we've somehow moved beyond racial inequality completely, and therefore pointing out an injustice or some type of inequality is just reduced to "fanning the flames" in their minds.

Nobody is saying you should be ashamed of being white. I'm certainly not ashamed of being white. But it isn't really something anybody should be proud of either is it?... It's not like you had anything to do with it. We were just born that way. Yes the ultimate objective should be to move away from identifying others based on their race, but that can only happen when everyone understands the way the human brain works, so that they can compensate. Without that knowledge you end up ignorant of you own prejudice, constantly convincing yourself that you're in no way a racist while simultaneously internalizing your racial bias. Seriously, studies show that students who take social psychology come out of the course with lower levels of bias in general, they're less sexist, less racist, less homophobic... you name it. And its because it teaches you the way that your own brain works.
I just noticed you were deriding the guy in the prior post to stop making it be about teams. If we can't escape the team mentality, then it's impossible and a moot point. I think we can do that, but it's going to take a while. In fact, I know that we WILL do it... it's just going to take a while.

I agree about the "not being proud" of being white. I also agree with how Hark mentioned the same thing regarding being born gay, or female, or any other distinction. I guess when some white males see people having parades for something they were born with, they may be a little disillusioned.

I'm interested in that psychology course, too.

Go read ALL of his tweets, does that sound like HIM or someone posting FOR him because they know what an idiot he is when tweeting????? I mean really! smh It's very obvious when he actually is tweeting and when someone else is doing it for him.

But your statements are flip-flopping by the post right now. Can't you see that? You just said that HE only responded today b/c of his "new guy"...but the very next post you claim hat someone else has been posting these responses all along.

Seriously?

I think it must be that her first comment was a regurgitation of Woman #1 on The View, and then her second comment was a regurgitation of Woman #2 on The View. Hence the difference of opinions, but both angled against that meanie Trump.

By the way, this is my entire point. Trump's tweets get annoying to me at times and I think some of the darts he throws - while I agree with them - could be toned down a bit, I personally LOVE that we have a candidate that is this authentic.

The exact criticisms you're mentioning about Trump's responses to these events...the opposite is true for Obama, who uses a teleprompter with speeches written by someone else.

Honestly..... omg..... I said he responded today BECAUSE OF his new guy... I did not say the new guy typed it out... maybe he did, maybe he didn't. What I said is the tweets that are more than likely 100% FROM HIS HANDS actually typing it out are the absolutely off the wall ones and the ones that tend to be what a person running for president would typically say are either FROM HIM BEING TOLD what to tweet or someone doing it for him.

Listen to the dumb butt speak... if you cannot tell the difference, there is no way I can help you! You must be blinded.

You might be part of that Trump support that they featured on Triumph the Insult Comic Dog's Presidential special where they had women pose as FOX news reporters and said the most obnoxious, insane things and told these dummies that Trump said it or supported it and did they support it as well.... Of course they did! omg, seriously.... if you cannot tell what is actually FROM Trump and what is not, then don't vote!

LEO's are 18.5 times more likely to be killed by a black person than an unarmed black person is by an LEO. If all justified and unjustified killings of blacks by the police were put to an end , it would hardly make a blip in the homicide rate of blacks. Statistics are inconvenient when they don't fit the narrative.

First of all, I was referring to the MINDSET, the mentality behind them, but to be more specific, the violence at his rallies from his supporters AND those against him. When a someone comes in protesting and they go out of their way to sucker punch them as they are being escorted out in NC---- is that a peaceful way to resolve the issue of someone coming in "your playground" and disrupting things or is that doing the same essentially the same thing? You get what you give, period. If you want peace, you give peace. If you want people to be pissy and fight, you certainly will want to be pissy and fight too.

In my opinion, anyone that has condoned violence, wishes violence on another or thinks if they could just do something to someone themselves (if they just had the balls to do it without getting "in trouble") is of that same mentality. They do not know peace, and in most cases do not want to know anything peaceful. They usually want everyone to think just like they do and anyone who doesn't is crap and "wrong." Terrorists think that way, and too many idiots right here do too. This "claim" is simply MY opinion. I have no doubt you disagree with it. I have already figured you out anyway smh:rolleyes:.

Based on your posts, I don't think you've figured out much of anything. You seem to have a lot of "opinions" that aren't supported in any way by any actual facts or events.

You have ONE guy getting punched by a Trump supporter at a Trump rally. He was not invited nor welcome,( which is still no excuse to punch him,) and the puncher has been arrested I believe. Meanwhile, the many more people that have assaulted Trump supporters- chasing them down and beating and kicking them, showing up with pipes and baseball bats, pelting them with eggs, assaulting journalists- have yet to be arrested to my knowledge.

Here's a question- how many Trump supporters have crashed Sanders or Clinton rallies and started trouble, and how many Sanders or Clinton supporters have been subjected to violence for attending a rally.
I'll help you- ZERO.

It's interesting how it shifts from fear of Muslims to fear of blacks, or fear of cops, or fear of... fear. I bet if you turn off the TV, walk away from the laptop, tablet or smartphone... it all goes away!

You seem to have a lot of "opinions" that aren't supported in any way by any actual facts or events.
Hey... you forgot what Opinion means.

I'm here to help:

o·pin·ion
əˈpinyən/
noun
noun: opinion; plural noun: opinions
a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.
"I'm writing to voice my opinion on an issue of great importance"

It's a good thing you aren't a brain surgeon.... I said this:
Same can be said for the radical Trump supporters and KKK, some Christian groups, the crips and the bloods, skin heads, any white supremacy group, Liberals who want to blow up abortion clinics, right wing conservatives who LOVE war and want to kill everyone around the world because they are too scared and believe in "git them before they git us".... the same mentality as islamic terrorists.... again, some act on it, some do not.

Now where in that statement did I blame ALL of this on Trump????? Then in another post I put this:

I was referring to the MINDSET, the mentality behind them, but to be more specific, the violence at his rallies from his supporters AND those against him.

Okay Brainiac- The "AND those against him" part is referring to the Sanders and Clinton nuts who go to Trump rallies and start a ruckus! I am sorry you all are not "bright" enough to understand this.

Another stat from her book. Black and Hispanic officers are 3.3 times as likely to fire their guns as white officers. Add in the fact that 93% of black homicides are perpetrated by other blacks. And 12% of white shootings are done by cops while only 4% of black shootings are done by cops. We don't have a white on black crime problem. We have a black crime problem. Period.

This has been my honest reaction to your posts on here. My apologies for the inability to give a much more thoughtful response...maybe it was due to me having never (literally) heard someone call someone else a "brainiac." Carry on.

Ever heard of google or youtube? If you think we are making this stuff up, do your own research. I cannot possibly make up the nonsense Trump comes up with. It is out on the world wide web for all to see. I never said ALL of his tweets were twisted. I have seen nice ones occasionally. I was referring to something specific and if you think for one second the man does not go on and on and on about how wonderful he believes he is, then definitely get on youtube! He has narcissistic personality disorder IN MY OPINION and is VERY full of himself.
