Extremely quick stuff (bama game)...

You're right we do a fair amount of secondary break type stuff or dribble handoffs / pistol. I feel like we do run a fair amount of high ball screens for RJ + Cadeau early in the possession though. The issues on PnR to me are:

1) very little threat from the bigs, whether they roll or pop
2) Cadeau can't really shoot and is turning the ball over
3) RJ isn't a great driver. He's even worse in Iso, but isos open up his step back. In PnR as the main ball handler RJ takes a lot of pullup 2s and floaters, which aren't great shots, even for him
4) the rest of the team doesn't have a lot of great shooters, so off-ball help often deters a successful drive

I feel like you can scheme around a couple of these, but all four is pretty hard. Our offense may still be pretty good just bc of RJ/Cadeau's talent, but it seems like an odd collection of players (and the fit is even worse on the defensive end).
R.J pullup game, before this season was absolutely money. His inability to knock down those shots this season has really diluted what he brings to the table each night.

What sorts of sets do you think would be best at getting our guards going downhill in the paint? And what are we doing wrong with our current plays?
Gaucho, if I may answer that, my answer should not surprise, I have been screaming it all season so far. The KEY is making Jalen a face the basket threat outside of the paint. Jalen right now is shooting like crap on toast, so allow me to save you the typing on that. Jalen is not shooting right now like a go to shooting threat, his shooting almost looks like an after thought rather than a primary thought, that should switch.

The conversation should go like this between Jalen and Hubert, son, I need you to be a go to scorer, I need you to actively look for your jumper. To the guards, I need you to look for Jalen in spots where he can get his jumper off, Jalen will be ready to shoot it on the catch. We have to get Jalen OUT of the paint and when he is OUT of the paint he MUST be a absolute threat to jump shoot and HE has to put in the work to get his shooting stroke down solid and positive and he has to move his dang feet to get in to position to get a pass and a shot. If I need to AGAIN explain why this is so critical I will AGAIN but I hope by now folks know why.

We have 3 really good guards and ALL 3 LOVE to drive the paint, ONLY 1 of them (RJ) is considered to be a known deadly shooting threat from outside. You have a power forward that is not a deadly jump shooter, whose best attribute is his ability to make strong cuts to the rim in JWit? One of the best parts of Lubin's game that we are not getting is his ability to knock down mid range jumpers, a trait he used a lot last season at Vandy to neutralize the height disadvantage he had to deal with.

if it makes people care/donate more, then fine…media monday’s will be fun for the fans.

if it’s true and sumrall wasn’t pleased with the overture/offer, i definitely want to know what that was.
I think the Sumrall stuff was put out by his people to drive up his price and let people know there's already schools trying to get him. Either way I think he would have been a horrible hire so I'm glad it didn't work out.

Quick stuff (GT game)...

Let's take a look at the box score vs GT:

1) We won the battle on the boards 48-37, we got 13 offensive boards to their 11. Good EFFORT !

2) We had 10 assist to 23 made shots, stil under the 50% mark you want to see.

3) 18 turn overs to 10 assists, at no level is that acceptable

4) RJ was 5-15, 33% from the filed, 2-8 from 3, 25%? Beats the 1-11 last game...

5) RJ played 38mins, the next closest to him in minutes played was Seth at 34

6) Seth was our leading scorer at 19, was 5-6 from the field and 8-9 from the line in his 34mins

7) We team rebounded 1 guy with 8 boards (Lubin), 2 guys with 7 (Seth and RJ), 3 guys with 6 (JWash, JWit, Cadeau)

8) We scored 31pts in the first half and 37 in the second half, where did the 50+ pt halves go?

I tend to be on the hesitant side like you when it comes to recruiting, but he would probably kill it in the portal. I don't think we would take the next step and my first choice would be Campbell, but our NIL and Rams Club donations would explode. So at least in that way it would be better.
I think you're right about the RC money coming in, but that would help recruiting as well as the portal, which is really just another recruiting avenue. But he would also need to make a considerable splash on the field and not waste time doing it.
