Worst case: a few more years of mediocrity and we do this all over again. Best case: use your imagination, could literally be anything better than what we’ve had the last 25 years.
That sounds like the same nonsense of 'you should want Mack back because he has won a National Champion ship and recruits better than anybody.'
The odds would be even greater against Belichick winning the ACC than the odds against Mack when he was rehired. Belichick is already 72. He has no CFB experience. He has 0 experience building a college staff or recruiting for a college team.
Here is a given: because Belichick has won so big in the NFL, if NFL owners and GMs felt that he still had the right stuff, he already would be rehired as an NFL HC. They know better than any collier AD, much less set of college fans and sports journalists, how good Belichick is right now. Hiring him for what he did 20 and 10 years ago is lazy taken to extreme of stupidity based on faith that what a man could do when 50 he can do as well at 72 and older.
Is there any NFL GM or owner known to have even part interest in hiring Belichick as HC? If not, then it would be beyond foolish to hire him for CFB.
