I miss the old days of eight teams on the Atlantic Coast. Everyone played each other twice and the tournament was always a reason to miss work/school. The conferences actually made sense. PAC was actually on the pacific coast. Southwest conference was actually southwest US. Big ten had ten schools. SEC AND BIG eight had their ties.
But times change. So do we adapt or do we get left behind? It seems that there are two paths. One - go all in and raise money and win the bidding wars. Two - go after four stars and build the team with experienced upper classmen.
I look at the top teams and the method one seems to be prevailing. It seems duke reloads every year. This year end should be interesting to see how far we can go.
