Discussion
In the second game of the season, a game only broadcast on Bally's Sports Network, the Heels answered a bad first half with a biscuit-eating second half to smother College of Charleston (COC). The Tar Heels continued their poor performances in Assists and Rebounding, turning in the program's 6th worst Asst/FG performance since the advent of the 3pt line (960 games). However in continued fashion from Monday, the opponent didn't disapoint with the 26th worst assist/fg performance by an opponent in that period.

The #1 Heels were on fire shooting the ball inside the arc, however with a 79% shooting performance. That's something we've only seen on 3 other occasions in the last 960 games. That, coupled with a 38-9 advantage in FTAs, led to a sensational 1.23 points per possession performance. We've only seen that 15 other times from this program.

That's all fun and games; it is the first half of November. The one stat that is starting to be of interest is Rebounding. In Game 1 the Heels had an 8-possession deficit, and in this game they had a 9-possession deficit. Signs of a fat team still watching the Duke game on a loop? It's too early to say that, but it is a very early concern for this team.

Depth of the Bench

Like what I see coming off the bench. Dunn and Styles have upped their game, and the frosh can play. Trimble and Nickel are game ready, love what they add to the team. We are deep, and Nance is settling in to be a good addition, I like his game and leadership so far. Hubert doing an excellent job of building this team so far. High praise from a constant fan here who likes perfection. Not there yet, but like what I see so far.

going for two?

Just a football question in general, with an example from the AL-LSU game, when would you start going for wo points after a TD?
Bama was done 14-9, scored a TD with 12:37 left, went for 2 trying to go up 17-14, missed it 15-14! Is 16-14 so bad, score again and you can go up by 9! After LSU kick a FG to up 17-15, Bama scores again, 21-17 need to go for 2, don't get it. LSU scores, goes up 24-21, "bama kicks FG to tie it at 24. Those 2 pts not made from kicking the PATs would have made the FG a game winner, no OT?
Do you like teams, might be the 'heels, to "chase" points that early?
What say you? Sorry to use an SEC game for an example, but it was fresh in my mind!

Let Love Lead the way and Please stop Dribbling RJ

Give “The Leader of Men” his due lead us in rebounds, assist and steals….and gave us 25 pints to boot.

RJ “Mr. Dribbles” Davis is pissing off his teammates with all that dribbling. Someone is in his head telling him to get his this year. Can’t be a point guard playing that way…..RJ your teammates are losing trust in you…..Now you must decide are you gonna continue with the foolishness or are you gonna do the right thing.

• Leaky Black was a career-best 6 for 6 from the floor and finished with 15 points, one off his career high. He was 4 for 4 from the floor three times in his career, including the overtime win at Louisville last season.
• This was the 13th time Black scored in double figures as a Tar Heel. He also made two three-pointers, the 10th time he made multiple threes in a game.
• Freshman Tyler Nickel scored eight points in less than eight minutes (7:48), his first points as a Tar Heel.
• The Tar Heels blocked eight shots tonight and have 14 blocks in the first two games (Pete Nance led UNC with three vs. Charleston).
• Carolina is 190-31 all-time as the No. 1 team in the Associated Press poll.

• Carolina is 453-83 in 38 seasons in the Smith Center, including 220-18 against non-ACC opponents.

• The game featured nine lead changes and 10 ties.
• Puff Johnson (sore knee) and Jalen Washington (rehabbing high school knee injury) were not available.
