I watched the women's 4x200 freestyle relay last night, and Katie Ledecky absolutely blew me away. When she started her leg, she was nearly a second behind the leader, when she finished, she (and the rest of the team) had won by nearly two seconds. She is head and shoulders above everyone else, and it's not even close.
On a swimming related note, if both Phelps and Lochte medal tonight in the 200 IM, they will be 1-2 all time in US Olympic History in terms of total medals. Phelps will have 26 medals, Lochte will have 13, which is crazy that Lochte would be 2nd and still have only half as many as Phelps.
Switching gears a moment, Basketball seemed to struggle with Australia yesterday. The Aussies have 5 NBA players and are definitely our biggest threat when it comes to winning gold. Carmelo had a big game and became the all-time US leader in Olympic scoring (and before you guys say it, I know this is his fourth Olympics, and that's more than any other basketball player, etc, but he does have that particular record). However, it's a little troubling Klay Thompson hasn't shot better than he has. He's 3-20 through 3 games, which isn't a good sign from a guy who I think most everyone thought would be a major player for the US team. If he can find his stroke, it's gonna help the team out a lot. However, I think the main reason that we struggled in this game is because K was playing a non-conference opponent away from home
