So I'm watching Game 5 of the ALCS between the Red Sox and Yankees in 1999. It's remarkable how different the game is played now.
The sport definitely has some issues, but I'm tired of reading all of the negative baseball articles - attendance down, more strikeouts than hits, etc.
First off, attendance is down in a lot of sports, not just baseball, mainly because it's gotten to expensive to see a live sporting event when factoring in the cost of tickets, concessions and parking. The weather has also been bad early this season. That's a factor as well.
Now, the rising number of strikeouts and the whole three true outcomes for plate appearances is an issue. But it can be addressed with rule changes that do enough to fix the problem without drastically altering the game. We've seen that happen in both basketball and football.
I love baseball and I always will.
I heard that stat the other day as well. April was the first month in the history of MLB where there were more strikeouts than hits across the league, and that May is on pace for the same as well.
I think that's a huge issue that is affecting the watchability of the game. People like to see action.
He's gonna pinch hit for him and it will end up costing us the game. Watch.Snit definitely needs to let Newcomb come out for the 8th.
If they expand and don't put a team in NC, I think my head might explode from the stupidity.Seahawks QB Russell Wilson joins the investment group that is attempting to bring an MLB team to Portland. I know Manfred said in the past that he wants a firm resolution for the stadium issues in Oakland and Tampa before considering expansion. I hope he sticks by that. If it comes to relocation, I don't want it to be Oakland. I think they have history there and I hope they can figure out a way to finally get the much-needed ballpark.

The MLB needs contraction more than it needs expansion.
If a hockey franchise can survive in Raleigh, then a baseball team certainly could. There is plenty of appetite for pro baseball in NC. That's why there are 500 minor league teams in NC. They really don't need a new team. Just move Tampa to NC.I don't see an MLB team working in NC to be honest. I think it's more of a college sports state with front running pro fans other than the NFL.
GFYNO BASEBALL IN NORTH CAROLINA.
I'm not losing my Braves coverage.

But it's still doing good enough to survive in a state that doesn't give a shit about hockey. Baseball is a big sport in NC. The demand is there.I think I read recently that the Hurricanes are near the bottom in average attendance of all NHL teams.
FIFYBut it's still doing good enough to survive in a country that doesn't give a shit about hockey.
He sucks. Strasburg is a Duke basketball player wearing an MLB uniform. A little pussy diva. But so is Strasburg!
