I didn't see this storming of the court last night, but I guess it became pretty difficult for Self and some of his KU players to get off the court safely.
I know there are all the arguments of "let kids be kids" and "don't rule fun out of the college games / experience". I get it, but can't they just do that outside the arena? I know Rat caught some grief for taking his guys off the court early, but I don't blame him. I'd be fine if Roy did the same (if we ever in the near future become "court storm worthy" for teams who beat us).
Nothing screams "low level over achieving, one-lucky-game program" more than the court storm. I hope the Heels NEVER do it again in my lifetime.
I don't think they let fans storm the court in pre-season, conference, or NCAA tourney games, including a national championship, regardless of seed / upset, so what is the difference that leads to not enforcing the same rule for regular season games?
All it would take is for the conferences to get together and say the next court storm will be ruled as an automatic forfeit of that storming fan base's team next game (or next home game, to make it really hurt). Announce this rule at the beginning of each game, and near the end of a possible "upset". Court storming would happen one more time, at most.
