I didn't see this storming of the court last night, but I guess it became pretty difficult for Self and some of his KU players to get off the court safely.

I know there are all the arguments of "let kids be kids" and "don't rule fun out of the college games / experience". I get it, but can't they just do that outside the arena? I know Rat caught some grief for taking his guys off the court early, but I don't blame him. I'd be fine if Roy did the same (if we ever in the near future become "court storm worthy" for teams who beat us).

Nothing screams "low level over achieving, one-lucky-game program" more than the court storm. I hope the Heels NEVER do it again in my lifetime.

I don't think they let fans storm the court in pre-season, conference, or NCAA tourney games, including a national championship, regardless of seed / upset, so what is the difference that leads to not enforcing the same rule for regular season games?

All it would take is for the conferences to get together and say the next court storm will be ruled as an automatic forfeit of that storming fan base's team next game (or next home game, to make it really hurt). Announce this rule at the beginning of each game, and near the end of a possible "upset". Court storming would happen one more time, at most.

KSU Court Storm

Roy actually did it before Rat .... at FSU several years ago - and he caught a ton of grief over it as the entire coaching staff left too ... basically left "Blue Steel" on the court to fend for themselves. Roy had a reason/excuse for it after the fact .. it was some sort of miscommunication or accident, but it happened.

I do not want them to abolish court storming, that's overkill to me. I called into the Dan Patrick Show this morning and made this suggestion: put 5 or 6 state troopers near the visitor's bench at the end of the game and have them escort the entire team and coaching staff to the locker room. Makes it MUCH less likely that a rowdy 20 year old will "bump into" a player or coach.

I love court-storming! Looks fun to me! I like the idea of the troopers in place. You know it's coming, just use those security people and you're set.

i got to do it a few times at UNC and it was a heck of a fun time (snow game, a win over dook). i promise i did not throw 'bows or get anywhere near the opposition - who cares about them? It's too bad that some unruly folks have to ruin it for others and i also like the trooper idea. we have a good set up at UNC too where Roy can point the other team to where our guys exit, and they're protected by press row in the handshake line (at least i've never seen students jump over press row that i recall). I've seen that work fine.

that said we of course should keep the storming to a minimum - upsetting #1, upsetting Dook, that should be about it IMO

a .500 team beat number 8...storm the court? Yeah, they might not get to the tourney so this was theirs...

Seriously, our man Brad had it, probably ought to stop.

I agree with Bleed's trooper recommendation, and I recall the Roy / FSU flak and ridiculing, too.

I just think the court storming has more too do with kids releasing energy, stress, having fun with each other, maybe being under the influence a bit, whatever, that's fine as long as nobody gets hurt, and it doesn't result in a black mark on the university or the basketball program (which it has, in KSU's case, and any sort of apology doesn't make that go away).

I just personally really hope we don't storm our court if we beat Dook in a couple weeks. We dominated them for about 25 minutes at end of first half and most of second half, on their court. I don't think they even have more talent, roster spots 1-10, than us.... maybe a little. Its not like beating them should be wildly unexpected, or treated as our "high point" of the season. Have fun, cheer like crazy, relish the win, but also act like its expected, not like its some minor miracle. Dook ain't THAT great. They got beaten by double digits by NCSU AND Miami (in HIS), remember.

Yeah, this was K-State's 4th victory in the last 49 games against Kansas according to the announcers, so guess folks were just overwhelmed by the moment, and the fact that they got to see such a rare event happen two years in a row in Manhattan against their rival....They just couldn't contain themselves in the end....Seriously though, I too like the HP protection idea for the opposing team and coaches.....They just got beat, so they don't need to be beat upon...lol!

As for storming, it doesn't bother me, but it is, and should always be a rarity at Carolina, and agree the opposition always need to be protected....Didn't like the idea that the NFL got so strict with the endzone celebrations either, and guess that's where the new moniker of the NO FUN LEAGUE, comes from?....Rules are great, and are necessary at times, but the games need to be entertaining for the fans, or the fans will look for entertainment elsewhere, and you got to be carefull when you start regulating what some consider fun?....

We darn well better not storm the court on March 7th.

Hope before this decade is out

we don't have to storm the floor any more

after beating the Fowl Birds

as the W streak @ the Octagon continues!
