Anyone going to any concerts?

I saw Goose at Red Hat. I'd kinda heard of them, but not really, I didn't realize i was seeing a jam band til we got close to the venue and I wasn't hearing lyrics for 10 minutes. Not my typical style, but they are really good at what they do, and their songs (the regular parts) are really good. I'm not sure if I want 3 hrs more of jam band regularly, but i've been listening to their studio stuff since that nite and i'm a fan.

heading to blacksburg wednesday for metallica/pantera/suicidal tendencies…it’s the first concert ever in lane stadium…metallica is obvious and seeing them there will be kinda rad with sandman and all that…wife(alum) has no idea what to expect lol.

oldest is a senior there so he’s obviously amped…they shut the school and town down for this thing.

I'll be there. I and 100 of my closest friends are volunteering to work the gates and security. An organization I support will make over $10k for us working the event. So you better be on your Ps and Qs, gtee.

I'd almost make the trip just to hear 'Sandman' played in that setting and by the originals. Should be crazy. Maybe there'll be a youtube of it.

something tells me that the 10 grand will be well earned. As in VERY well-earned. Wouldn't mind a followup from you to either deny or confirm the merit of my hunch.

Have fun and be sure to turn down the offers you get from those hot and high-out-of-their-minds young women plying favors to get up front to the edge of the stage.

Or don't. And pics or it didn't happen.

Going to see Kool and the Gang at Koka Booth in Cary on the 17th. Looking forward to it a lot. One of my favorite bands ever. To me, their music is timeless.

May 21st, Im headed to Charlotte to see Insane Clown Posse. Probably my 25th time seeing them. Never gets old.

my concert going days are pretty much behind me now but my taste for the bizarre and off-the-wall could almost motivate me to drag my old ass over to take them in. Have a great time. Take pictures. Post them here.

Oh, and be safe. Relatively.

well damn, I really imagined that this would be kind of a big deal. Somewhat disappointed.

Just kidding of course, that was even more spectacular that I envisioned it to be. Great job, thanks. That had to be about as much fun as is legally allowable in most parts of the world.
still kinda numb from the show…the history behind the song and band and what it took to get them in that stadium is pretty amazing.

and i have a couple of videos from other songs, but the iphone just doesn’t do it justice…hokie sports and metallica have better footage because they had a robot camera right there…it was electric!!

that's interesting. My brother is a big Van Halen fan and had seen them a number of times but I had never seen them. He got us tickets to a Greensboro show, and they were upper and overlooking the stage from almost the side. There was a big suspended speaker just in front of us. When they started playing, it was just a super loud, distorted ear-splitting mess to me but it didn't seem to be the same for him. I had to retreat to the concourse, and there were some other people out there apparently trying to cope as well.

I figured the problem was that they were overdriving that speaker and the sound was breaking up. I never thought about it being my ears themselves. Yikes..

That explains why the entire crowd didn't walk out, I guess. Because it was truly terrible to me.
Wow I saw them at gboro too with the same result! Was this like ‘79 or ‘80? Anyway I walked out. To this day the worst concert I’ve ever attended.

no, it wasn't that long ago but don't ask me too specifically about time/date kind of stuff, my sense of time is totally wack. Probably in this century I'd say.

LMAO, this time warp we're in is hilarious. Here's another post of mine I found from the same time as the one you responded to...

The concert was 2012, and the poster I was responding to was also complaining about the sound.

you are exactly right about K&tG opening although I have to take your word for the year. My sense of time is completely wack. It was the worst concert I've ever experienced because of the sound. And I am anything but a DLR fan and he was annoying to me. Eddie did a solo thing that wasn't bad, so the show wasn't a total disappointment. Seeing Kool was a trip. I've posted here before that my then wife got me the first CD player marketed in this country, before most people had ever heard of them. She picked up three CD's with it and one of them was a Kool and the Gang. So seeing them had sentimental appeal.

I saw ZZ Top way back when (?) with Robert Cray opening and we were toward the back on the side, and the sound wasn't that bad. That was a really good show. Cray was awesome.

The board has been so f'ed up lately that it is driving me bananas on other threads. This one? I actually like some of the old posts coming up and enjoying them a second time around.
