Ha! I just talked about this bridge in another thread. Given the awesome invasion of the WSU board by you all, I would like to point out that there is a North Carolina,WSU connection with our beloved 'Galloping Gertie'.

Lacy Murrow was born near Greensboro, North Carolina. He later went to WSU where he got his engineering degree. He was one of the engineers overseeing construction of this bridge. However, he was not responsible for the faulty planning, and the cheap slimmed down design. That was a corrupt NYC dude, whose name escapes me, and I"m too lazy to look it up...Monofort or something.
