This was canceled, now rescheduled. Hope it doesn't have anything to do with our staff's thoughts on the PJ recruitment.

If I had to guess, I imagine it's just him following through with his visit. After all, his family did say he was going to reschedule after the LNWR was ruined by Hurricane Matthew. Can't imagine Roy would tell a recruit that he can't visit.

Still don't think anything will come of it...

I still like what I saw of him in the video clips. I think he could be closer to being ready for college play than Huff. We have room for him and PJ (or Vanderbilt or Knox), don't we? Assuming Justin (or someone) leaves early.

Well... this one caught Auburn's recruiting guys off guard. Interesting for sure, but UNC is his dream school, so... why not let him visit?

If he visits and wants to commit, it would be very foolish not to take him. First, most here seem pretty sure PJ is UK bound. Second, even if he opts for UNC And we've accepted Brooks, there will be a scholly available. Personally, I think Brooks is Auburn bound, but I say take him if he wants to come.

That's my thinking, too.

OTOH, I see that Tennessee picked up a big yesterday. I wonder if that will have any effect on Stokes.

If we takes Brooks, it's a pretty good indicate that the Vanderbilt/PJ ships are going elsewhere.

If we miss on both of them, I'd much rather see Roy lock up the scholarships for 2018 than take a shot on 3 projects in the same class.

Just my opinion, but 2 of Huffman, Manley and Brooks I would not consider "projects." Multi-year players, yes. But projects, no.

Agree with your first line, disagree with the second. The frontcourt will be super thin and 3 players are needed, even if to just absorb the contact in the paint.
Roys other option for '17 could be a grad transfer but it's early days still to worry about that.

I would assume this is bad news for those who feel we have a shot at PJ or Vanderbilt. I don't so have no issues here since he possibly has more upside than the other two.

There's no reason we couldn't take 3 bigs and one of the hybrids for a 6 man class. In fact, if the hybrid is concerned we might have to play him in the post then taking another big might actually help us there. And there's no way a player like Brooks scares PJ from coming here anyway. He'd start over everyone at either the 3 or 4 no matter what.

My preference, lock up a 3rd big and cater to the positionless desires of Vanderbilt, PJ, and Knox.

Well Arch, the timing is a little better now, what with the early signing period almost upon us.
Roy could easily say, "well son, if this dude named PJ doesn't commit, we'll take you" ;)... or maybe Roy wants to load up with Bigs.

I'm assuming his "transcript" issues have been cleared up, so hey...

At this point I am good, we got Huffman and Manley so for me the real pressure is off, no matter what we got 2 ready to play bodies, call em projects if you want but they are ready to play body wise and that means for me they can give us some minutes.

I strongly suspect that Roy has not told either Brooks or Stokes that we no longer have room for them, I think he has more got the 2 he did and let the situation remain the same to see if either of these guys would have dropped us on their own or do they want us so badly that they are willing to fight for a spot with us? It appears Brooks is willing to fight for a spot else he would have cancelled, well better said not re-set his visit. It isn't as if we were to get him there would not be room for PJ, there will be room for PJ even if Brooks were to commit to us.

Now clearly I have not been as high on Brooks as most others have been, that was just due to me feeling we needed more physically ready bodies because at least 1 and maybe 2 of these freshman bigs are going to have to give us a lot of minutes as a freshman. But now having 2 physical bodies in place we can afford to take a guy not as physically ready (IMO) but maybe more skilled. I don't think it effects PJ in any way, there will be a scholly there for PJ as well as a wide open starting spot. So if brooks wants to commit, I think Roy takes that commit and continues to do all he can to get PJ in the fold as well. Either way, as I said, I am good with it.

Loading up on bigs, without this freshman class we only have Tony and Luke back for season after next, he kinda had to load up on bigs, the question now becomes do we get 3 or 4? I do think Roy would prefer 4 (the 4th being PJ), else he would have told Brooks no room left son.

"transcript issue" OK, well, I hope he has got the family issues resolved but not likely this visit is set with those issues still outstanding.

Nope, Roy is playing his cards just right, leaving room for one of the 3.
Mikey, I was talking about this with someone off-grid and that's my best guess right about now. Neither consider themselves traditional "Bigs", so even a Brooks addition wouldn't be a deterrent.

Also was reminded that Brooks is showing up on a strong visitor weekend, what with Jalek and Platek also being in town on OVs and apparently Zion now coming up as well....

The Vanderbilt ship has sailed over the cliff.

The chances of this happening are slim to none. And slim was already in the car.

That's a possibility perhaps. But it's not realistic.

You're right. Projects was the wrong word. My Terminology is beginning to suffer when it comes to recruiting nowadays.

But yes, 3 Multi Year Players in the same class without a stud would be pretty bad in this situation. Not only is there the potential 1 or more don't pan out, but It's an exodus when/if they hit their Senior Year. And we're back at square one.

Would feel better with a few multi year guys in back to back classes. Like the position we're in with guards right now.

If we didn't offer another player in 2018 and got Zion, I'd be A-OK with that.

Duke is on him hard. Clemson is rumored to be in it, but remains to be seen. Too early to start claiming leaders, but I hope we stay on him. Hopefully his recruitment doesn't turn into Wendell Carter's
