Withers is gonna get his shots, and Withers is going to refuse to foul anyone to stop a layup.
Bama can really shoot and that is the difference in this game as Alabama leads 43- 34
First half positives:
Ty Claude and Ian Jackson… and that was it, lol.
Just 0 defensive pride in the first half. Hubert probably could’ve called more full court pressure. It definitely messed up Alabama in the 2 possessions they did.
But 0 pride to stop your man. And 0 awareness that Alabama is going to fade to the corner on the strong and weak sides to get 3s.

Them 25 times our guards have drove into the chest of the Bama bigs and been block is a pretty big factor tonight
Bama lost their best 3pt shooter. They are shooting so well tonight because our defense stinks. A simple ball screen and our big man can't handle it. Been happening all year.
The Bama guards are driving and kicking and getting open looks in flow and we don't.
Our full court press looked good for the one possession we used it. If we're going to play small, why don't we press more?
Just put our 5 best players on the court and let them run. Were heading to the NIT if we keep trying to make things work playing Withers and Washington

Just GOTTA get something out of Cadeau with the small lineup. Bama spreads the court so well, gotta be able to attack with the rock.
Cadeau, Trimble, Davis, Jackson, Powell
They play more like UNC should play with this personnel. Design offense for your primary handlers to get downhill to the paint. Then have shooters relocate or get fade screens for open and in rhythm 3s.
Sure this team doesn’t have a good big to do the exact same thing. But that’s the style of half court offense to emulate. UNC isn’t playing the same kind of basketball. Whatever freelance they’re coaching isn’t the answer. The freelance still has to be aggressive going towards the basket.
But credit to Alabama. They’ve defended the rim really well and Seth, RJ, and Cadeau couldnt finise layups over their size.
Press the entire game into a zone.
We have 6 good guards and our so called Bigs are mobile except Washington.
Otherwise. This team has no chance playing the way it does against good teams.
Generational Cadeau has as many turnovers as points+assists in the first half.
We have zero long bodies to rim protect ( JWash is a plodding big), they have 4 6'10 and up mobile guys to contest. It shows on drives. Shots at the rim and threes. We are challenged to contest at the rim.
I’m all for pressing mainly be because this team hasn’t shown it can defend individually in the halfcourt…. But you better not get the press broken without a rim defender.
Honestly is there a player on the team that would scare the other coach into game planning for him? Just guard RJ and he will throw up some wild off balance shots.
Two Bama layups and the lead is up to 14. For the team to have any chance both Trimble and Cadeau need to contribute some points

Really not trying to be dramatic but is this even a tournament team? I am so scared for the future of this program. The team Hubert put together is a complete miss, we can’t figure out the NIL, we can’t recruit anymore, it’s going to be very scary to see what this team looks like next year..
Remember when one of Hubert's first offers was to Will Shaver. Dude rarely gets off the bench at UAB.
There is 0 chance that slow footed bigs like Jalen or Lubin should be at the point of your press.
Unless there’s a big turnaround in the next 15 mins, I think I’m done getting too concerned about this year. There will be some fun nights when all 3 guards go off, but our frontcourt isn’t UNC level and there’s no defensive anything with this group. Hubert better nail the transfer portal bc with a subpar season and our current recruiting, next year looks bleak.
But at times no big has to alter it for them to just miss
