Cadeau was amazing in the center of that Syracuse zone.

Jackson has only been 1-4 at the line so far tonight but he hits one and Starling scores finally then Carolina misses two in close and then Powell blocks Starlings next attempt to score which leads to another Jackson basket 81-73

Cadeau purposely fouled has his turn at the line and he also misses giving Cuse another chance to get even closer,,They are called Free throws for a reason. Lampkin pumps in to more fts 82-80
In the last 3-4 minutes, we’re seeing a reason why these teams are where they’re at. Just some strange decisions and lack of execution. Why Syracuse extends its defense to guard Cadeau 30 feet away from the rim is beyond me. Easy blow by for the dagger layup.

Powell mugged on the inbounds play and his first attempt and second go in 88-82. Carolina is still on life support but stranger things have happened
Crucial play that determined the game is when Coach Davis put Powell defensively on Starling who he completely shut down and had a clutch block on Starling late when UNC only lead by two at the time..
That was a fairly satisfying win. (Yes, I've lowered my expectations enough to say that.)
One troubling thought. We played 8 guys and scored 88 points. RJ, Withers and Ian scored 58 of those points. They aren't coming back next year. The 5 guys who are likely to return only scored 30.

Withers averages like 4 points per game and has one of the lowest bball IQs I've ever seen in a UNC jersey. He won't be missed even if he did have a good offensive game against a bad Syracuse team.
You knew this would be RJ and Ian's final season before the season ever started.
We probably won't even return 5 total scholarship players from this roster. It's up to the new GM and our NIL funds to put together a UNC caliber roster this offseason.

There’s not enough paper in the world to list all the things to answer that question.
That actually does not worry me so much, I think we all know or at least should by now that this front court is just limited and that building it up is absolutely key for the next portal. But don't forget, we have some freshmen coming in that may surprise some folks, not just Caleb Wilson but those 2 combos we have on the way can shoot the ball and are not so tiny. And as well it looks like High will be back for next season and a hopeful soph bounce from James Brown, solid portal hits to help that front court and we could have something to play with. A little more maturity from Cadeau and I see Drake as a soph as potentially a break out guy.
We should be taller in the back court. Taller at the 4, too, if Wilson is good enough to start.
That should help some, all other things being equal (which they never are).
But still not a contender, imo, UNLESS we recruit effectively in the portal - or some of the new coaching staff are better at developing players than this crew has proved to be - or both. Preferably both.
