Reading that the Spartans, when leaving Portland, had several of their guys carrying cold boxes of pizzas to their team bus.
Carolina had individually prepared hot meals delivered to them. Roy had something to say about being spoiled and that to continue to get special treatment, they had better play their butts off.

Off day Monday but dang, film and an hour and a half practice will be tough today.

...as it should be.

As I tried to convey in my post-game piece (before the thread was hijacked by typical poor reading-comprehension, PC Police and OOTB mouth-breathers), our guys got hit in the mouth --- figuratively and literally --- by a perfect storm of a good, experienced, physical opponent abetted by officiating that quickly let things get out of control. And as I said there, I was ironically glad when I saw that happening because I wanted to see how we would react.

Obviously we didn't react well Sunday, but this is one of those rare cases in which a loss actually can (cliches aside) do us more good than a win in the grand scheme of things. That is, IF the guys take it to heart. I feel pretty doggone confident they will. JB and Theo aren't gonna let this go unanswered, and you know Roy won't.

Gary, come on man! I love your reports, but to blame the refs on that one was way out of line. You got good as you gave.

Dude your post game break downs notwithstanding (as i always read them and enjoy them) your trolling is at a level unprecedented on any board i visit. And thats saying a lot as i reg visit quite a few with some world class trolling going on. U bait and dig and personally insult any and all who take the slightest issue with your opinions. Idgaf ftmp myself as i dont feel my sense of self worth is at stake when someone goes after me or dares to disagree with me on social media but i just wanted to point that out and make sure u know that u are indeed the classic embodiment of an internet troll. Carry on.

hence the comment on reading comprehension....what he said was that the officiating was horrible and allowed a style of play that favored MSU. If that's his opinion why is that a problem for so many on here? He blamed the loss on our reaction to the officiating. I never once saw him write that the refs cost us the game.

Except any objective fan will tell you the refs were fine and allowed a physical game that we did not adjust to. That’s not bad officiating, which is what Gary stated.

No amount of officiating would have saved us from the abysmal way we played that night.

I don't fit into any of the three categories! I feel left out so I will add a fourth:

Super Handsome and Devastatingly intelligent posters!

I do think G-7 can be a bit thin-skinned, but he is right in stating that many peeps delight in being contrarian, intentionally (I hope) misread what peeps say, and seldom post anything positive. AND many threads get hijacked because of this dynamic. There are multiple trolls on this site, and most are too cowardly to admit their real agenda, but G-7 is not a troll! ( He might be a curmudgeon though, lol!)

I thought the refs did a passable job and called a fair game. I also think they let the play get way too physical, but they called it fairly on both sides. Our team wasn't ready to compete in a game that physical, but we will be!

I did not "blame" the refs. Good Lord. I pointed out (spot-on correctly, in fact) the environment of the game. It was a vital component in taking measure of how the team reacted to adversity. Come on, Mikey... you can read better than that. And I didn't "give" anybody anything, except the truth.

Well the entire first two paragraphs of the breakdown were spent criticizing the officiating. I believe it was called the “worst one sided officiating ever”. Now thats not criticizing a “style” of officiating which as gary states is certainly fair game and relevant to any game discussion. To the contrary Thats calling it bad and biased. Yuuuuuuuuge difference. But my prob is him doubling down in another theead with insults of those of us who didnt agree with his take on the officiating.

News Flash: Just because YOU fit all 3 categories doesn't mean "everyone"... and FYI, that's NOT a compliment.

Well that's good. If I was being complimented by YOU, I'd know I'd be doing something very wrong. So thanks!

Ahhhh yes lets talk reading comp. mike did not say gary blamed the refs for the loss now did he? He simply said he blamed the refs which he certainly did. He blamed them for numerous things.

You might well be right about the last part, but not the first --- allowing what they were allowing IS bad officiating, and BTW. as for "objective" fans, the two coaches I was watching the game with (neither of whom are Carolina fans) were incredulous at the zebras' performance. As I posted originally, it got comical to the point we were all laughing about it.

And FYI, our main topic of conversation during the game was how poorly UNC reacted to adversity, which was also the main topic of my write-up. The biggest source of the adversity was MSU, but that was in fact aided and abetted and amplified by the guys in stripes. Not sure why that's so hard to grasp.

Regardless of wether he technically blamed the refs is kind of irrelevant. It comes across as pedantic and more than a bit biased to even mention the refs when unc clearly got their asses handed to them all over the court.

Especially When pretty much everyone else who saw the game thought they reffed a fine game. I was watching with a former d1 ref and he had no issue. (Not really true but it's fun to pretend).

Gobbler, you've just restored my faith in our education system. Good on ya...;):D

I’m just here to point out every time DOG has a bad game the stat sheet suddenly gets ripped up. But I’m a mouth breather so carry on.

"I was watching and then halfway through the 1st half dog picked up his 3rd. At that point I knew we weren't playing on a level field so I jes ripped up the stat sheet, so this one will be more "stuff" then stats. My eyes don't lie though and tell ya what... zebras had it out for us".

Pathetic and hilarious wrapped up into one delicious egg roll.

I certainly did no such thing.

Bruh

Come on.

U blamed them for the physical play. U blamed them for missing LITERALLY ever foul in the book. U blamed them for berry’s poor shooting. U blamed them for being “comically bad”. U blamed them for the calls being one sided. U blamed them for being the “worst ever”.

Now its true u didnt blame them for the loss.

But blame them u did. In spades.

And I maintain that the biggest source of adversity was MSU, period. End of story. The refs could have been bought and paid for and we still wouldn’t have won. Why is that so hard to grasp?

Certain refs officiate games different. I didn’t see one call that was totally egregious.

It appears I've happened upon a middle school message board & you guys talk about fans of other teams. The juvenile posts on this thread are embarrassing for some of us Tar Heel fans. Do us all a favor & grow up, before we all get a bad name for acting childish.

Which is exactly the conclusion Gary came to, and I quote....
"in that it was gonna be a test to see how our guys would hold up and react. Suffice to say, in the first half especially, not well. MSU was able to take us out of our game. Just one example was when Kenny over-cooked a simple fast break lay-up. It was maybe the first time he didn't hafta finish thru contact and so he goes too strong in anticipation.". But whatever, I don't have a dog in this fight.

No one is disputing MSU was our biggest obstacle, but if you didn't see egregious calls, well... that's on you. And nothing was "hard to grasp" for me. Unlike you apparently, I grasped the whole picture and the nuances of the game. I'm not going to censor any of them, now or ever. It's that simple.
