I just read that Marvin Bagley...

Bagley will play PF, with Carter at C

Carter
Bagley
Trent
Allen
Duval

Will be the lineup, if Bagley goes there.
I agree. Probably the most talented starting five in the country.

And rightfully so. K is not above criticism, especially on how he manages (or doesnt manage) his bench. However, in this scenario I don't see it being a problem because we only had 5 sure fire starters.....now we have six. There are still plenty of minutes to go around and unless Bolden (or whoever isn't starting) sulks and pouts there's absolutely no reason in can't work. Then we should have DLaurier getting minutes and possibly even one more (Tucker maybe) getting minutes. That's 8 guys and typically what K likes to use.

K had a ton of talent available to use last year. He chose not to give some very talented players PT, so that they could develop. That's on him. He always whines about his lack of players, yet he has guys sitting on his bench that would start for most ACC teams.

Like I said in my first reply, I could easily tell you the reality of each of the kids you mentioned that transfer but what's the point, your mind is made up and based on what you want to believe happens rather than reality of the situation.

Back to the main point which is Bagely and Bolden. There is plenty of time for Bolden. Plenty. He Carter and Bagely should play a ton. Would he start necessarily? Maybe not. If that means he's going to run, then maybe we are better off. I hope he continues to work as hard as I've heard.

As for the "recruiting over" that's one of my favorite made up terms on message boards. It's such a weak term and excuse- big time college basketball hasn't changed in terms of the fact that the best teams and coaches are going to go after the best players every single year. Not to mention that in today's game it's more important than ever to do so with how many kids leave after one or two years and with how many transfers occur each year- plenty of articles on how many it's been over the last couple if you'd like to read them.

Steat makes a great point that you kinda skirted over. Yes, lot of D-1 transfers now days for sure but the vast majority of them are kids that play for lower ranked programs, kids that were not close to 5 stars in HS rankings, moving to higher profile D-1 programs. Now unless duke fans now days consider duke to be a lower level D-1 program the point of many transfers of 4-5 star players from duke is off. Most power D-1 programs see most all of their transfers to the NBA rather than to another college with a few that get home sick and want to go back closer to home.

To see them leaving mad or involved in controversy is different, seems a lot of that coming out of duke now days. They lied about how I was going to be used seems to be a common theme, even Bolden was spouting some of that early summer, don't think he is as happy at the prospect of Bagley to duke as the duke fans seem to be. He came to duke to be a 1 and done and is rapidly getting the jeter treatment.

Bolden is pissed right now. No way he would have stayed at Duke if he knew Bagley was going to play for Duke this year. Bolden is stuck right now and will be coming off the bench.

Bench players at Duke do not get drafted in the NBA first round. Jeter got out and Bolden made a big mistake by staying. I have never had an avatar on this site before my 10,000 post. No better avatar than K in a mouse trap. Bolden was promised a starting position. Now, the kid is trapped. He would be better off by dropping out of Duke and playing in Europe this season.

Bagley is about as eligible to enroll at Dook as I am. This is an absolute joke. If Bagley commits to Dook he will be cleared for play before the ink dries on the letter of intent. If he goes to USC it will be a long drawn out process. This kid has been to more high schools then I can count, missed time from school and some how he can graduate a year early and enroll at Dook.

I believe he will be gone by christmas break.
He and his family are too dumb for my sympathy.

While I agree that the likes of Bagley and Duval getting into hide your Dook is absurd, I believe Bagley is a year behind for his age.

Duval could barely get out of high school and now he is expected to do college work at Dook. Anyone who thinks anything but winning matters is totally clueless. I'd love to see some of these guys locked in a room and write a college paper. I bet the results would be mind boggling.

Actually this is incorrect. Bolden is further ahead than Carter right now, so if bagley commits (not as much of a lock imo) then bolden would play alongside Bagley. Bolden looks really, really good per numerous sources. Carter would then pair with DeLaurier most likely.

All of that said, I'm not sold on Bagley to Duke.

I'm all for talking trash on other programs but you're way off on Duval. Don't believe everything you read lol.

Oh, so Carter sits while Bolden starts? You may be the only dukie in dukie land that actually believes that and I suspect you don't either...

Bolden has been by far the most dominant in practice, and while it's hard to judge with 5 post players against each other, how can you say Carter gets the nod when bolden has been pushing everyone around? If that's the case, bolden should have started every game even after his injury last year. Carter is special but he's taking some time getting to speed.

...and once again there won't be enough basketballs at dook.

Now comes the interesting part for Duke, how to squeeze 3 collegiate centers into the 4/5 spots without completely clogging up their offense
~Draft Express~

Spacing will give Duke problems this year. Whether those issues will prevent them from having an elite offense is unclear, but the fit will definitely be awkward. In many ways they'll look a lot more like a typical UNC team, with a "beat them to death inside" type of offense.

I've been thinking that for a while now. They'll be more like a typical UNC team and we'll be more like a Duke team from the last handful of years.

And yet another one drinks the

So how do they shoot free throws collectively? Poor free throw shooting with our bigs lost us some games for a couple of years but won us some games the last couple of years. With the front court talent now at Duke, I expect to see a lot of fouls called in the post. Free throw shooting could impact how well that class does, for one year.

K never worries a ton about screwing kids over but I think he's throwing it all against the wall for a last run.

I'll be interested to see if they can really go inside-out. Could be interesting if Trip decides to get his shots first.

Dook are the off season champs. Nothing like winning the off season.

How do you get Bagley and Duval eligible at Duke?

They're the clear cut favorites but when they take shots at UNC academics you can just laugh. Those two kids have been to about 8 different schools between them.

They can win all the recruiting and preseason titles they want...

...but they can't have the 2017 National Champions banner, we'll keep that one.

I actually agree with @dadika13 here. Last year taught me to temper expectations when relying on freshman. 2015 was the exception and not the norm. Duke has one of the best recruiting classes (that I can remember) coming in, but I'll hold off anointing us champs just yet.

Grayson Allen is the only player returning that played meaningful minutes last year. On paper, we look super talented....but we did last year as well. Lack of outside shooting will be our main concern this year.
