Roy just visited and offered a kid outta Auburn, AL --- Garrison Brooks.

4* 6'9, been rising in profile some... word has been Pearl was making a push. Wondering if it's a "wait a while" offer, as I suspect Huffman's may be? Hmm...

casting a wider net ..
Just FYI. He's been a fast-riser in profile. Nice frame and has grown physically and developed a very nice offensive game over the past year or so --- way more advanced offensively than Huffman, for example.
Caveat is his dad coaches at Miss. State I believe.

Yeah, interesting is the word I would use...

...and there was a rumor over that way over the past few days a Carolina offer might be coming. I know he's damned excited about it. This one could be intriguing. Kid had a nice summer.

I see that he just turned 17 . .

He called UNC a dream offer last year. Already set an official visit for October 7. Carolina seems to be strong here.
True, and true, and will be interesting to see if we can pull him away from dad.

Personally, I like this offer more than Huffman's. Tall kids often develop at a slower pace, and he may be taking the Brice Johnson development path of blowing up the summer before his senior year.

My guess is Roy wants to have at least 1 big on board while pushing for PJ, and seeing that Stokes and Huffman are taking their sweet time, Roy is making his reach wider.

Listed as a 4 *by ESPN, Scout, and 247.

I like his game from the little I've seen! Seems to be fairly skilled with a decent mid-range jumper, good post moves, and pretty athletic! He's got a good frame to add good weight too!

...although I'm still not convinced the Huffman offer is 'committable' just yet. I may be wrong there, but....

Just looking at his Twitter account I'm thinking we get a commit when he visits or maybe even before

I'm usually pretty chill about recruiting Gary, but '17 is a crucial year for us. TBH, a couple of years ago I thought we'd be bringing in Giles this year. And I'm happy with Tony but I was hoping we'd have a couple of Freshman bigs on this team. With Kennedy and Isaiah leaving, we're in a must have situation for big bodies.

Predictions if players sign

Berry and Jackson gone after this season
Brooks is a Brice Johnson clone--Starter at the 4 in 2018
Huffman is a 4-year Joel James type off the bench for 4 years
Knox starts at the 3 in 2017 in Roy's small line-up (if he signs)--1 and done
Pinson starts at th 4 in 2017 in Roys smal line-up )if Knox signs)
Seventh starts at the 1 in 2017
Felton starts at 2 in 2017--1 and done
Bradley gone to NBA after 2-3 years

That 8-minute clips give a lot of moves to look at. Much better than I would have guessed for a guy who was previously spoken of as not having much offense. Looked like a lot of offense to me.
The whole thing is he blew up offensively this summer (much like Brice did), impressed Hubert, and Roy liked what he saw on film and yesterday in person.

6'10" & 230lbs is nice size, seems to have a good frame that can carry easy another 20lbs of muscle. Seems to have solid soft hands, like that. Ranked 127 and as the last 4 star on rivals but extra credit for considering UNC as his dream school.

Hard to say how much advanced this kid is over Huffman from these clips without considering the competition, I like the emotion Huffman plays with, that lil extra bit of grit, not sure I saw that in those clips of Brooks but that is really hard to see in clips like that.

I think the question here is who do ya like more from what you have seen, Brooks or Stokes. Stokes looks a lil more skilled but strikes me as a under the basket guy with a Deon like game, Brooks can finish with the flush deep and has a couple inches on Stokes. Huffman is a Tar Heel, write that down if you have not already, it is a matter of timing the announcement.
