Kerwin Walton,........Well??.................................................

Well, clearly we are bored, like to add another weapon to this class, the kid can shoot but I don't see him as a game changer. I am officially fine no matter where this kid finally decides to commit. The question is if we get this kid what does that do to Platek? Lot of non-Platek fans here, kid had a great op last season and just couldn't seize that golden ring. What Platek did gain however is a lot of PT that translates in to experience. If we get Walton it very well could force Platek to have to make a decision, I would suggest the experience of Platek could be just as valuable as what Walton could bring us, I would suggest a senior season of Platek would be worst case as productive as a freshman season of Walton.

With jeremiah leaving and not knowing how Ant will be able to come back from a second knee surgery in back to back years, an already little experienced back court becomes drastically inexperienced. Love KJ but he really isn't the answer. I do think we have a starting back court of Love and RJ with RJ moving between the 2 and the 1 or maybe even Love doing so but those 2 guys get the heavy minutes. be it Platek or Walton, their role will be to come in and give us a few minutes to give our starting 2 a breather or cover for foul trouble, I am comfortable Platek can do that, not as comfortable Walton can.

Is Walton a talent that you see as a kid that would grow over a 4yr career with us in to a starter or is it smarter to hold the scholly for the 2021 class? I think the answer may hinge on how far back Ant can get because for me he is our future 2 guard if he can get and remain healthy. Worst case could be we swing Leaky or Puff in to the 2 spot, not my preferred option at all but options I would maybe trust more than a freshman Walton or a senior Platek that could wet the bed like he did last season (thou I would not expect the bed to be wetted as badly from a senior).

I do think with the front court talent we will have and big time PG talent that who ever walks in to our reserve 2 guard spot will have life easier than Platek had it last season because that front court mix would allow our 2 guards space for catch and shoot jumpers that may not be as rushed, defenders will have to sag down on our front court guys giving our 2 cleaner looks. That is a situation shooters dream of, uncontested clean looks.

Wow, a kid struggling to make a decision on whether or not to go to unfamiliar state or stay at home where he’s comfortable! Shocking! Most adults don’t leave the place they grew up in, because of fear of the unknown.
It's much different going to school somewhere, or being an adult and PERMANENTLY leaving where they grew up in.

It’s really not. Nothing is permanent, but the decision for a 17 year old is certainly relative.
Moving everything in your possession to a place you either have to buy or rent on your own is different than moving some clothes and moving into a dorm. It's much different.

I guess there are some upset Heel fans right about now, since they wanted nothing to do with the lolligagger. Glad Roy didn't become so impatient, and petty. Welcome aboard !!!!!
Yep. As I said, this is annoying but it will be way in the rear view mirror when he hits the court for us. All that matters is how good a player he can be. A few days of indecision now have nothing to do with that.

Picking what school you go to can shape the future of your whole life. Let’s not act like it’s not a big decision and is just a matter of moving some clothes around. Hell most adults would only have to pack one suitcase if they up and left their current situation to go elsewhere.

I’m one of those that jumped off the bandwagon the last 24-48 hrs. Mostly because I saw so much indecision and misinformation (admittedly most of it generated by members here). I always want kids that bleed UNC rather than just the guys signing up to better their position. I hope Kerwin has been misunderstood by those of us who jumped ship and has has to deal with family, etc. conflicts. If so then he is to admired for following his dream despite any problems he had to solve along the way.

The entire process of recruitment and announcement had some strange twists that’s for sure. Probably why I reacted the same way I did when back in the old days my prom date request wouldn’t say yes and dragged on while she was waiting for what I presumed was a better offer. It never came so she was my date and we had a great time and relationship for years. But I never forgot the anguish I felt. I’m not equating my love life with a high schooler’s immense decision to decide where to attend college. Just drawing a parallel as a reason why I and undoubtedly some reacted with negative comments recently.
Since I have no clue about the details and how much in the way of relationships he disrupted with his decision I can only apologize to Kerwin for any negative comments I made along the way and welcome him to the prom!!!

Welcome to Chapel Thrill, Kerwin! I am glad you picked UNC and hope you and your family will be happy and at peace with your decision. In the years to come I hope you are one of the many who look back on their choice to attend UNC and play basketball for the Tar Heels as one of the best decisions they ever made.

Honestly I can somewhat understand the angst as most everyone here is a die hard Tar Heel fan. But it also reminds me of why sometimes one should walk away from the keyboard and just not post. Now all of a sudden "he's the one I wanted" or "welcome aboard" or "I knew it all along." 18 year old making the most important decision of his life during unprecedented times......oh well. In the end, all of Heels fans are ecstatic. Go Heels (eventually)!!

Someone this unsure about a decision that he announced a date for 2 weeks in advance doesn't give me the most positive thoughts to his nerves on the court. I understand it's a big decision, but so is the pressure on the court.
I’m thinking it is best we move on. Let Arizona deal with the insecurities of this guy. We have a great class coming in and if he’d rather go live under Arizona’s coming penalties so be it.
Time to move on to class of 2021
At this point I hope he goes elsewhere, UNC obviously isn't where he wants to be, if it were he'd pop

I'll take why I'm happy Roy Williams and not our fans coach UNC basketball for $200, Alex.

Man there were some ridiculous comments in this thread.

A kid is trying to make one of the biggest decisions of his life and some people are too freakin impatient to let him make his mind up. So what if he was struggling to decide for another two days, it’s his decision to make and he wanted to make the right one. I changed my mind three times before deciding on a college. It’s completely normal to be unsure.

according to THI, Andrew Jones and Clint Jackson, he made his decision on Saturday.
perhaps as a courtesy to the other schools, he asked THI and UNC to wait.

nevertheless, there is a “i want it now” generation on the nipple for too long with no patience

No, AJ and Clint recorded the podcast last week in preparation that he choose UNC on what they thought would be his original decision date, Saturday. That's why they said Saturday, they had no idea he'd wait another 2 days.
