Newest Yahoo! Article on FBI sting

False.

The are ineligible ONCE THE SCHOOL FINDS OUT until they pay them back.

I'm pretty sure Brice and Tony didn't tell UNC officials they were taking lunch with an agent.

Are you sure? Im not arguing i just thought I read the player has to pay it back upon receiving the meal

Lmao pack pride is already trying to distance themselves from dsj and gottfired lol. And they even admit dinner won't amount to much for us. Strangely they have turned on their sister over in Durham. Lmao they can't wait for dook to get hammered. The sad part is they know they will get hammered as well they just want dook or us to go with them. The seem to know it isn't gonna be us so the rawlee hurricane has turned it's eye to dook... Lmao

If I'm understanding this as long as it is paid back period than eligibility is not affected. I know we have lawyers on here someone help a point dunk deputy sheriff out

I dont think it matters. The school probably just learned about it today. TB and Brice have already foregone their eligibility. Only way this can come back on UNC is if we knew about already and didn’t pay it

“There’s potential impermissible benefits and preferential treatment for players and families of players at Duke, North Carolina, Texas, Kentucky, Michigan State, USC, Alabama and a host of other schools. The documents link some of the sport’s biggest current stars – Michigan State’s Miles Bridges, Alabama’s Collin Sexton and Duke’s Wendell Carter – to specific potential extra benefits for either the athletes or their family members. The amounts tied to all of the players in the case range from basic meals to tens of thousands of dollars.”

NC State’s Dennis Smith allegedly received over $73,000 before heading into the NBA. Seton Hall’s Isaiah Whitehead, LSU’s Tim Quarterman, Maryland’s Diamond Stone, Kentucky’s Bam Adebayo, and Washington’s Markelle Fultz all received anywhere from $10,000-$37,000, according to pay sheets created by the sports agency ASM Sports.

I am confident that Roy and staff and AD Bubba are not worried. Honestly, a meal? With Tony? That is a tad less than Dennis's take.

Correct.

And yeah, pretty sure that secret Carraba's dinner was kept under wraps.

And now we know why 5* players in our back yard wouldn't even talk with us much less visit. Excuse me NC State it's yours and dooks turn with the NCAA we already had our decade. Good luck... Now will you guys go in holding hands singing we shall not be moved? Or will you turn on each other and throw the other under the bus?

At the end of the day, there’s no way to ever prove who paid for who’s share of the meals. Unless Carabbas keeps their receipts from 2 years ago and can show it was paid on one tab this isn’t going much further

so a meal w/ wendell's mom...a meal w/ bradley...a meal w/ brice.....whats to say that the portions shown was the agents expense that he spent trying to woo said mother and players.....seems a lot like nothing...now dsj:eek:

I do the same thing in my expense reports when I have meals with clients. Mine never specifiy who paid for what. It says “Dinner with Company A” and the cost

So in conclusion, Brice went to a shitty restaurant and the meal didn’t even amount to the 200 dollar limit. Color me not all that concerned.

Not sure how you aren’t concerned when the judge and jury (NCAA) is the organization we made a laughing stock a very short time ago. They are still wiping the egg off their face. I’m surprise UNC is not already swinging from the gallows for a minor violation. The NCAA will hammer ALL involved, including us, no wait, ESPECIALLY us.

Count me in the group of not concerned yet. We’re under the $200 threshold with the two meals. Should be a blip on the radar in the grand scheme of things.

The concern to me is that this is just the tips of the radar. There is so much that goes on that the coaches just can’t know about.

They cant hammer us over this it would be the same as last investigation... NCAA we ate going to drop the hammer on UNC... UNC and lawyers ahem according to your own laws cant. If you look on paragraph c section and section p you will see... NCAA we still gonna. UNC I mean go ahead we will slaughter you in court. NCAA we find no wrong doing in the UNC case... This is a case of wash rinse repeat if NCAA tries to take it there

Receiving a free meal (and from an f'ing agent of all people) is an impermissible benefit. The players know this. Hell, even I know this.
I will choose to believe that our guys paid their own way until proof is offered to the contrary.
That being said, after everything we've been through the last 5 years, if we have to be dragged through the muck again, I will curse the names of whoever is found to be cheating (and yes receiving impermissible benefits from professional sports agents is cheating) regardless of the name on the front of their jersey.
This is the kind of thing that will smear even those programs trying to do things the right way.

We have to remember, this is only the tip, shoe company’s and other agents info is still to come.
IF we’re only dealing with meals, as it is with this agent, we’re going to fair far better than those who got $$$.
Too soon for a victory lap, but it would be oh so sweet to see UK and duke go down in flames in the “biggest scandal in college basketball...”

DO NOT forget NIT state. Though if you are already down does it count as going going down? Or is it considered kicking state while they are down? But to be fair they never got up after 30+ yrs of beng down. Someone help me out which is it?

The meals AT WORST would be secondary violations since under $200. No risk to player eligibility. The loans however could be major violations depending on timing.

This is the only thing keeping me from being very angry.

It is very minor compared to what DSJ, BAM, Carter, etc. are accused of doing.
Carter had a 100 dollar lunch, just like Brice and Bradley. How is that more like bam and dsj? Just bc the shade of blue he wears??

What will be interesting in all this is how they implicate the school. For instance with NCState: what will be the punishment for NC if they didn't know about the payments? It sounds like they were payments trying to entice them to the agency, not to a school. I see ESPN blasting the headline about top schools being implicated - and they are because it was their player - but this seems far different and less worrisome than paying a player to get them to go to a school.

Given the speed with which the NCAA acts, i'm sure we'll have our answer around 2123.

For all we know the guy could have expensed the whole lunch and all the players involved could have paid their own share. That's pretty shoddy journalism to throw kids under the bus for $100 lunch when they don't even know exactly went down there. This guy is a sleazeball so he probably just expensed the whole cost of the lunch even if the players paid for their own lunch. Pretty piss poor to disparage these kids for something so minimal without the facts being in place. Click bait at its finest!!

TOS has an article saying Tony’s dad is disputing that Tony ever met with the agencu or any agents. He said he met with them at their office for lunch and they had pizza, but Tony never did and it was just to get information on their services when they were looking for an agent. He also said it took place after Tony declared for the draft in April

No word on Brice yet

This seems like some pretty irresponsible journalism so far.

Looks like Bam Adebayo was paid for according to this. Also mentions Wendell Carter and several others.

Only UNC mention is Tony Bradley having dinner with ASM.
Not to be sarcastc, but did anyone here actually not grasp the poorly kept secret that Bam and Dennis were paid? I'll answer my own question --- sadly, yes. Hell, the reason Bam ended up at kentucky was a falling out between their handlers.

Also, when I tried to tell this board there were unsavory characters trying to convince the Bradleys to bolt early I got smugly dismissed as a conspiracy theorist. Let's just hope there were no in-season violations in the process.

When I saw Tony was mentioned in the report, I actually remembered you mentioning the concern with his inner circle. Looks like there was truth to that. Let’s just hope his dad is telling the truth and there is nothing more.

On the flip side, I would expect any kids parent to deny accusations against their son. So, who knows.

Yeah, I wasn't making that stuff up. It was quite real and I was actually careful how I phrased it. Truth is Tony's dad was not being very smart during that time and was listening to the wrong people. We can only hope he didn't let it cross into an eligibility issue. Beyond Tony leaving being a stupid move, that was my real concern at the time. I HOPE Tony Sr. is telling the truth now about the details, but I can't say I'm completely confident of that.
