NFL 2017-18

Ray Lewis, Randy Moss and Brian Urlacher are all HOF finalists this year.
Not knowing the other finalists, I would guess all 3 get in first year. But HOF voters have been known to act morally superior and drag out some candidates for years because they don't like their personality, off-field antics, or murder acquittals.

I think TO is also on the ballot.

This is his third year I believe. He's made it as a finalist before, but didn't make the final cut because he's an asshat.

I have a big problem with voters who refuse to vote for an athlete for the hall of fame solely because he or she doesn't "like" the player. If the player had a criminal record or got busted for PEDs that's one thing, but to use a HOF vote as a popularity contest is ridiculous. I didn't like TO either, but he deserves to be in based on his numbers.

He does have the numbers, but he was just so extreme with his behavior towards his teammates that it's hard for some to overlook. I think he gets in at some point, but openly trashing teammates as much as he did hurt him.

Darnold declares as well.

Hello Cleveland !

Yep. Personally, I don't mind seeing TO get skipped a few years. His numbers stack up with the best of them, but part of being a good football player is being a good teammate. TO was about as bad of a teammate as it gets, so it's hurting him, as it rightfully should. At the end of the day, I think he ultimately deserves a HOF bid, but not seeing him get in right away is justified, IMO.

Chiefs
Rams
Jags
Saints
It's very likely that all the home teams win. But I threw in one road team - Falcons - just because they have the playoff experience over the Rams.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Jags lose, especially if "bad" Blake shows up.

It pains me to say it but I would be surprised if the Panthers win. Saints pummeled them twice already, and I think they will win the NFC Championship.

My guess is he would retire before he would go to another team.

It sure sounds like he's pissed about the whole Jimmy G trade. It was surprising that they gave him up for a 2nd rounder when they could've gotten more.
After reading that article it makes me wonder if he decided to basically give away Jimmy as a screw you before he left.

lamar jackson is interesting...a better passer than vick, better runner than rg3, and was trained under an elite o-coordinator in petrino.

All 3 should be unanimous, first ballot inductees.

couldn’t stand t.o., but he’s first ballot, imo...he’ll probably get screwed.

I wouldn't vote for him but I would vote for Lewis. I find showboating to be worse than murder.

Lamar Jackson declares for the draft.

He's certainly more polished than Vick was when he came out but Vick had better arm strength, was a better runner with better speed and was just an all around higher level athlete. I agree that Jackson is interesting and I agree that Petrino is a big reason why. Jackson is actually pretty good going through progressions. Vick struggled with that throughout his whole career.

Rosen declares for NFL draft. Not a big surprise.

I don't really like either one of these guys. I'm stunned that people are saying they're going #1 and #2 in the draft. I know the Browns and Giants need QBs, but I'd try to get some of the free agents out there (Alex Smith, Kirk Cousins) instead and draft a QB in another year.

Wild-card weekend... who ya got? My guesses...

Chiefs beat Titans
Falcons beat Rams
Jags beat Bills
Saints beat Panthers

Have you seen the lines on this weekend's games? Much bigger lines than I'm used to in the NFL playoffs. I like all the favorites.

I read it earlier today and even watched some talking heads discuss it while I was working out earlier. I see it as this: no one can beat the Patriots as it is so the media is trying to make the playoffs more compelling by creating this hogwash right before the playoffs start. I don't know...maybe to give hope to some other teams? Give hope to other fanbases? Whatever. I will really enjoy watching Brady, Belichick and Kraft hug it out on stage as they lift the trophy.

I think it was Dean Smith who said how difficult it was to beat a team for a third time in a season, but did you know that teams that swept a conference foe in the NFL regular season are 11-5 against that same team in the playoffs? (Doesn't bode well for the Panthers, does it?)

Dammit Mark.
I just heard It's actually 13-7. Not much better.

I just don't have any faith that the Panthers are going to keep Kamara and Ingram from running all over them again. And if they are able to stop the run, then Brees is likely to light them up. But even worse is that the Panthers offense is so inconsistent, and Newton has been turrible throwing the ball the last few games.

Sorry. Just being realistic.

I know all this, just trying to hold out some hope.
