Fangio just took the Denver job. Now it's starting to sound like Bowles is going to end up in Chicago rather than TB. It sucks for the Bucs if this happens, but there are other D-Coordinators out there.

What do the Cowboys do if someone offers him a DC job? Do they sack Marinelli and promote Richard?

my guess is jerry already has a plan...asst head coach possibly and give him 2-3 million.

rod has already relinquished play-calling and he’s at the point where he doesn’t care about moving up the chain.

That's what I figured. It isn't like JJ doesn't have the money to pay him. Marinelli won't be around forever.

Bowles to the Bucs is official. I was definitely worried about the Bears talk. I mean, who wouldn't rather coach the Bears' D as opposed to the Bucs' D?

weird...mccarthy was right there, begging.

I just don't think McCarthy is a highly sought after coach. The big knock on him is his unwillingness to change, and the league seems to be all about young change right now. I've read that the only job he's really interested in is the Jets job, but I don't know if they want him.

Have their been any minority HC hires this offseason?
Not yet. 5 of the 8 HC’s fired were minorities but none of the hires have been so far.

I think Marvin Lewis was past due; and Hue Jackson wasn’t a good fit fork the Browns. Bowles .... eh, 50/50.

The guy in Denver (can’t remember the name) - how long did he get? 2, 3 years? Elway needs a qb before he needs another coach.

But I don’t think Wilks got a fair shake at all from the Cardinals. One year isn’t enough. Arizona is quickly becoming the nfc version of the Browns.

Denver needs a QB, but Vance Joseph wasn't the answer. I think Bowles will get another chance at some point. I also think the Bengals are going to be sorry that they fired Marvin Lewis. They were the Browns before his hire. With all the injuries they had last year, you could hardly put their terrible season on him.

he lobbied for the job, privately, then it surfaced...i know all about head coaches not willing to change...sometimes it works, sometimes not.

as long as nobody touches kris richard from dallas
GTeeitup - I agree with this so much....
but I REALLY fear he's gone. I think he interviewed for 3 different jobs on the same day last week (just because that is how the timing worked out).
The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, but I just prefer Richard as head coach over Garrett. Richard seems to demand a lot out of his players, and gets them to play with an edge, some meanness, and swagger. If he could be head coach, run the defense, and find a different competent offensive coordinator, the Cowboys would be better than they are now.

Garrett was once a player and "one of the guys" but somehow he hasn't realized he isn't one of the guys any more. I'd rather he had more of a relationship with players like Richard does, or like Billicek. You are their leader who can be hard on them, and there should be respect (maybe even fear a little?) but don't treat them like you're their BFF / high school football buddy. But Jerry Jones will stick with Garrett for a LONG time regardless of results because Garrett is obviously someone who is 100% yes man, and allows JJ to trample all over him, and play out this stupid illusion / ego play that JJ actually knows something about NFL talent and Xs and Os player needs for the team. Makes me puke.

Also, I'm not sure Dak is a QB worthy of a big time money deal in the range of elite QBs like Brady, Rodgers, and what Luck and Mahomes will deserve. Dak's throwing mechanics and consistency in making accurate pretty easy throws just isn't there. But they will wrongly give Dak big money too, just because he is a great competitor with great heart, and they are notorious for signing overpaid players, for whatever reason. Dak is maybe a top half QB in the league, definitely not top 10

It looks like Kingsbury wants to take Murray with the first pick. I guess he would either battle Rosen for the job or they could trade him.

The kid should probably pick one and go with it. Playing two sports is tough enough, but playing two sports while playing QB is damn near impossible. If he tries to play both, he'll end up being good at neither of them.

his o-line coach will make or break his head coaching tenure...it’s like when spurrier went to washington and wanted his qb taking seven step drops...he was like “just block it up, we’ll just block it”...damn near impossible in that league.

The offense that Kingsbury ran worked in the big 12 where hardly any teams played quality defense. And he still finished with a career sub .500 record. I'm not sure he's going to work well in the NFL.

I would have rather gone after Bienemy if you wanted someone younger. At least he has NFL experience and learned behind Andy Reid.

Gary Kubiak going back to Denver as the OC

Bengals are close to hiring Rams QB coach Zac Taylor as their new head coach

Kingsbury is looking to hire Vance Joseph as his DC
As a Panthers fan, I hope karma dictates that the Cardinals suck for the next few years after doing Steve Wilks wrong like they did. Not only is firing the dude after one year pretty shitty, but the Panthers D went backwards last year in points per game, yards per game, sacks, etc (basically every meaningful stat). I hope Rivera brings him back to Charlotte.

Phillip Rivers is 0-7 vs Tom Brady.

The Chiefs haven’t won a home playoff game in 25 years.

The Rams haven’t won a home playoff game (in LA) since the mid-80’s.

The Saints are 6-0 in home playoff games since Brees / Payton came to N.O.

I’m thinking all these trends continue - I’ll say the Pats, Colts, Cowboys, Saints win this weekend.

Tomorrow when the chargers play, watch their center. He dips his head every time before snapping the ball. I don’t recall ever seeing anybody do this and not get called for trying to draw the D offsides.

The Cowboys are a textbook case of good and bad drafting. They took centers and guards in the first round, and they were vilified by "draft experts" while they started to build up the franchise. Then comes the Elliot pick, who the "experts" applauded, but has started to lead to their demise, as they've put all this money into skill positions while ignoring their trenches.

So, now Dallas has a solid defense, but they have an average (at best) O-line, a good RB, a bad WR core, and a QB who is nothing more than a game manager. They should be the case study for anyone who wants to be a GM.
