NFL 2019-20

In 15 of the last 16 seasons, a last place team won their divison the next season. The bottom-dwellers from last year: Jets, Jags, Bengals, Raiders, Giants, Bucs, Lions, Cards.

If I HAD to pick one of those to continue the trend, I'd take the Jags, since they were in the AFC championship game two years ago, and should be more consistent at QB with Foles. But I wouldn't bet on it.

Wow, that's wild to think there's like a 90% chance given history one of those teams wins the division.

I'm with you with the Jags being the only one I could really possibly see. MAYBE the Lions if Stafford puts one season together.

I can tell you it's definitely not my beloved Giants.

It's the power of a last place schedule. The NFL is the best of the best. Even a bad team has a lot of talent on it. Maybe they need a fresh start. Maybe they need an easier schedule. Maybe the ball bounces in their favor more often. It's a crazy fickle game, which is why I really respect what the Pats have done over the years.

I tend to lean toward disrespecting the Bills, Jets, and Dolphins for being bad for so long to make the Pats have a cakewalk to the first round bye every season.

So, I just saw that Tyreek Hill isn't going to be suspended. I wonder how that works?

Edit: I just read that the audio they have of him is played out of context. Walterfootball.com is saying that his wife tried to set him up.

@gteeitup did you hear that possibly the Cowboys / Jerry offered Dak $30M per, and he / his agent rejected it and asked for $40M?!

WTAF?!
Why not ask for $400M per year while he's at it? I mean if the asking price is in no way tied to reality, actual results, or what your peers (and much better proven QBs) are getting paid.

I know it's just gamesmanship at this point, but if he thinks he is worth like $10-15M more per year than guys like Brees, Brady, Rogers.... he's top-level delusional. In a just rational world he's not really worth half that number - $20M.

Seriously - they need to think about who they could get in the draft, and what FA's they could sign - before approaching that $40M deal with an unproven, middle-of-the-pack, turnover prone, inaccurate QB. They could sign 2-3 Amari's, Zeke's etc for that money.

Maybe Dak's just trying to trap Cowboys into this, before risking his play this year showing he's maybe worth about 1/3 (1/2 tops) of what he's asking for right now.

@Heelicious yes, i did hear it...was on the obx for vacation and just now getting into home grove again.

i think it’s a ploy, as you mentioned, to gauge the org...if i’m dak, i bet on myself and sign a two year ext for $50 mill, and in two years when the new tv contract comes out, he’ll be a free agent and then get that big contract from dallas...if he’s average, then we’ll know...at any rate, the cowboys can franchise him and he’s stuck in that $25+ py...it’ll get done, i feel.

i think zeke and amari will get done.

lol, don’t forget about jaylon smith...there was a rumor yesterday that they could go ahead and extend him at $10 py which sounds like a bargain today.

I think if they get Zeke signed before reg season opener, they can contend this year. Vie for the division and go far in playoffs. Another year for Dak, more receiving weapons, Frederick back. And I think LA and NO have taken a step back. I think Philly might be overhyped at this point. Bears offense doesn’t scare anyone.

Have you ever heard a better idea?

The packers are installing a decibel meter thats shown on scoreboard. When the defense is on the field the louder the crowd gets the cheaper the beer gets. Lol. I’ve been to lambeau once for a sold out preseason game and it was deafening
Great idea - unfortunately wasted in Green Bay in two ways:
1) as you've stated, they are already renowned for being a GREAT loud crowd of fans - at least for the last couple of decades when they've won a lot. Still they are pretty die hard even when not having a great year.
2) Wisconsin / Green Bay "laps the field of contenders" when it comes to drinking. If you do some research - I think I saw something showing that like 17 of the top 20 cities regarding per capita intoxication were in the state of Wisconsin. They don't need any more encouragement or incentive to drink more.

I've been to Packer games at Lambeau twice. It is a very fun environment. Though they take their football more seriously than anything in life - the fans are generally nice and good-natured. Even if lubed up quite a bit. Nothing like you'd experience generally in cities like Philly, Cincinnatti, Oakland, NY.

@Heelicious rumor is zeke is on a plane back to dallas from mexico
I didn't watch much of the preseason game in Hawaii against the Rams, but I thought I heard Zeke was in attendance at the Hawaii game. I hope (sense?) that Zeke will sign before week 1.

The guy Pollard is probably like 50-60% of the ability of Zeke - but at least it seems like the Cowboys have some leverage that they have some guy they can plug in that needs to be defended, without the offense imploding. I don't know what leverage Zeke has right now. He's under contract, and he's getting fined quite a bit each day out of camp. He sure can't hold out to the point where this year doesn't count toward free agency.

panther fans, are ron and cam connected?...in other words, if they go 8-8 and the miss the playoffs, are they coming back, is one gone or are they both gone.

I think Rivera got a pass for last year after Cam was playing hurt. But he is gone if they have another losing season. Not sure what's left on Newton's contract but I don't think he's going anywhere. For better or worse, he's still the franchise.

That's the guy!

I'm sure as a Giants fan (that's you, right?), you hope this guy will be good. But of course he's a dookie, so I have to hope for the worst for him. :D

Yep. I have very mixed feelings on this but I'm just gonna pretend he hates Duke now and left unhappy.
