NFL 2019-20

The amount of money these guys are getting is ludicrous.

I wonder how those dudes from years ago feel about today's contracts? Hell, a lot of the players back in the 50's and 60's had to work regular jobs during the offseasons just to make ends meet. Or maybe they just needed extra cash for the hookers and blow?

You're worth what the market says that you're worth. It doesn't mean that the market is right.

NFL Football is going to be the next Moneyball movie. It's inevitable. The thinking in pro-football is medieval. It's the same process as real life. People would rather put a band-aid on a severed arm than decide to let the patient die and decide to rebuild anew.

I really f***ing wish I had money to take advantage of this...

I think I remember saying that the Cowboys should have drafted a QB with a high pick in the last draft. There was a reason for that. This should have been a proactive decision by JJ, not a reactive one.

if they believe in him, then they aren’t drafting a qb early.

i would draft a qb every three years just because you have control of a qb for four years unless he’s a first round pick then it’s five years...maybe this offense will work for him, we’ll see.

@Heelicious not sure how legit this is but this from a “capologist”

“it has an out clause. If they guarantee 45M and give him 20M signing bonus. Cowboys only owe 38M over 3 years before they can get out of the deal.”

Welp, just when I thought NFL salaries were outrageous... it looks the NBA and MLB ones are worse when you consider they are getting guaranteed money. For example, I heard where Zeke's new contract is ~$50M guaranteed, but that is equal to the guaranteed amount that miles plumlee got.

miles freakin' plum-bum!

Yeah, once you take into account the fully guaranteed aspect of it, the NFL contract isn't as good for the players. Baseball probably has the best contracts for the players because there isn't a hard cap, so there isn't a max.

Baseball is far and away the best (for the players). Get paid for what you've done in the past, even if you don't get on the field at all it's fully guaranteed and you can be an albatross on the organization for years.

Most veterans in every sport are paid for what they've done in the past. It's not limited to baseball. You can just get more in baseball.

It's a shame that a player can act like a total jackass and then get rewarded by going to a better team.

He wasn't exactly "rewarded". He gave up $29 million guaranteed for a one year prove it deal for $9 million.

If I treated my boss like he acted toward Mayock, I wouldn't get another job with a 9 million salary less than a week later.

He has only himself to blame for losing 29 million.

This leads me to believe that he's doing this for reasons beyond money. At first I believed like a lot of other people, that this guy was just insane. However, this is starting to look like an intelligent move by Brown. You help win a championship by putting up incredible numbers. Then you get a massive contract.

This could also be AB getting back at the Steelers. In the modern NFL era, the Steelers and Patriots are tied for the most championships. Defecting to the Pats and helping to put them ahead of the Steelers could be the ultimate troll for Antonio Brown.

If this is true...I now love Antonio Brown.
