FIFYdoesn't have to play until romo is gone, probably two months from now when Romo gets hurt again
LMFAOside note, after the redskins fired their gm a source reported that "he used to brush his teeth with coors light."

Who is this San Diego you keep talking about?![]()
Yeah with all that free agency moves going down, you can't help but gleam that GMs from teams who need QBs are thinking "this year's QB class sucks" OR "this year's QB draft class will take 3-5 years to develop into a starter and I don't have 3-5 years to wait."Looks like Mitch won't be going to the 49ers. I can't imagine them drafting a QB right after they signed a backup. I still think he goes in the first round, but at this point I have no idea who is going to pick him.

That's fine by me, because that most likely means he falls to a team that is in a better position to prepare Mitch to be successful long term. I think he has the talent to be a really good QB, but I don't know if he has enough talent to start from day one. A Rodgers/Favre situation is what I hope happens for him.Yeah with all that free agency moves going down, you can't help but gleam that GMs from teams who need QBs are thinking "this year's QB class sucks" OR "this year's QB draft class will take 3-5 years to develop into a starter and I don't have 3-5 years to wait."

Agreed, but selfishly I want him to get drafted as high as possible because:That's fine by me, because that most likely means he falls to a team that is in a better position to prepare Mitch to be successful long term. True, but if he stays in the first round then he's still going to pick up a nice check.1.) the higher drafted he is, the bigger his guaranteed signing bonus will be
He can certainly use it, but he hasn't had any issues getting good QBs, so I'm not sure how much it will help. Also, just like in basketball, it's not just about where you are drafted. You have to succeed. If Mitch is drafted and flops that doesn't help Fedora out as much. The style of offense he runs is his biggest asset in recruiting QBs in my opinion.2). the higher drafted he is, the more it's a feather in Fedora's cap that he/we can use in recruiting.
I have always hoped he would return and finish his career with the Panthers. Is he still expecting a million a game like he was when he left?By the way -- looks like Julius Peppers is signing with the Panthers today. Hope this is Jared Allen, part II...not much left in the tank but can still be productive and make a play in the crucial moment. Good to see him retire a Panther, too.

LOL. That's excellent. First time I've ever heard someone use the argument that you shouldn't fire a drunk because he was a drunk.
dude, i still say la rams.
Fedora's cap
Surprising plot twist...rumors swirling that the hesitation surrounding Tony Romo is that if a trade isn't reached, he may simply retire.
If that is the case.... Houston...HAHAHAHAHA
that would be great for dallas because he'd have to pay back a % of that contract...not as good as a draft pick, but i'd be okay with it.
@Hark_The_Sound_2010
Panthers have traded Kony Ealy and 3rd round pick to New England for their 2nd round pick.
Great move. Hope your guys can get more out of Ealy, but he's been a complete bust in Carolina. He could have even gotten cut in training camp next year IMO.

Ya. Great value at $803K/year for the player for one year. None of it is guaranteed and they can just cut him in training camp themselves if they don't like him. All that for moving down 8 slots in the draft (from pick #64 to pick #72) - seems like no downside with some solid upside potential.
Basically. Shows how much the Panthers value him at this point. Basically gave him away, but at least they get something in return.
It's nice to see Carolina actually doing something this offseason. Shows last year was completely unacceptable.
I like bringing back Peppers and signing Adams. But Matt Kalil has been injury prone for awhile. I'm not sure we should have given him that kind of money.
for some reason i feel ealy will breakout there...that's just what the patriots do, good grief.
Y'all wouldn't have successfully signed him if you didn't. That's how free agency works. You knowingly overpay for Player X because you desperately need someone at that position.I like bringing back Peppers and signing Adams. But Matt Kalil has been injury prone for awhile. I thought the same thing about Chad Johnson ("Ochocinco"). Bottom line...Kony was given every chance last year with one of the top defensive coaches in the game and couldn't get it done. It was time.
i don't disagree with you re: ealy and his lack of production...but ochocinco was pretty done, no?...not to mention the fact that he was ochocinco, or mini-t.o.

Tom Brady got Deion Branch to produce at a high level. I rest my case.![]()
Yeah I don't think a lot of NFL fans know that that's how UFA works. People are like "why are you paying Glennon that much money?!?" Well, because the other interested teams bid just below the number your team finally had to reach lol.Exactly. That's how auctions (what free agency is) work, by definition. Whoever signs the player overpays him compared to what the other 31 teams value him at (otherwise, another team would have signed him if they valued him more).
^This only works for true free agency obviously, when a player goes to the highest bidder. Not necessarily the case if the player takes a discount to go to a preferred team, or if a player is a RFA.
So, Brandon Cooks for the #32 pick, and sliding back 15 spots from our #103 pick. While keeping Butler and having enough cash to still sign Hightower....
Chess vs checkers.
