No NIT for UNC

That’s fan speak. I have zero issues with guys who are not coming back deciding not to play in the NIT. I’d love to see Styles, Nickel, Dunn, etc get some additional reps but I’m not going to blow this way out of proportion like some are.
The UNC image is taking a hit all over the media. Black and others signed to play for the university.
They should stay home if they do not want to play but
So you remember the last time dook declined the NIT without googling it?
Just to clarify….Duke did not decline a NIT bid a few years ago. After winning the second ACC tournament game they were due to play Louisville but a walk on tested positive for Covid. They withdrew from the tournament and shut down the season even though they had a chance to win and go to NCAAs. They never got a NIT bid. Get your facts straight. Since when is the Carolina Way using what Duke did to justify the path UNC chose.

What I gathered from social media is the casual fans are more accepting of not playing the NIT, while moreso the hard-core fans find it not acceptable. I don't see a problem with his response. This is a slap in the face of how many years we were taught there was a Carolina Way and a dignified way to be as a program.
And that makes sense. I find turning down the NIT something beneath UNC basketball - it signals a self-indulgent, whiney bunch, a bunch looking for easy ways out. As if they think they are too pretty and wonderful to schlep around down with the dregs in the NIT.

The team threw away extra practices and live game experience for the guys who barely played this year.

UNC should. never use Dook as an excuse to do or not do anything. You are correct about that.

I believe that anybody in contact with that walk on, which I assume would be thew whole team, would have been required to quarantine for 2 weeks. So Diook had to shut down the season at that point.

I won’t respond to your first question because it’s a dumb question and it is not warrant a response from me.

Regarding the Carolina Way, this book was written in 2004. I’m not saying that negates everything in it however, I am saying they are pages that likely no longer apply. We can talk about tradition as much as we want to, but we cannot ignore the fact that college basketball is changing. No one here has provided a legitimate reason for playing. A team is very much like a car, if the motor is broken, it makes no sense to keep driving it.
Well, you must replace a broken motor. So then maybe because this motor is broken. we need to replace Davis and his players.

You have 7 posts in 3 years. These are your first posts in a long time which was just 2 posts about Caleb Love prior.

Hmm
That’s not related to fandom.

It’s the fact that I have other things going outside of replying to forums dwellers who enjoy pontificating about their attachment to Carolina basketball.

I can do similar math…7200 messages over 11 years, ~54 post / month. Unless you’re getting paid for this, I recommend finding some other hobbies
You are outdoing that pace in the past 24 hours.

You are at 9 posts (9 of your 11 total posts in your time here) in less than 24 hours.

That's like on pace for 270 posts a month. Lol. Make more sense.

Exactly.

But whatever you do, don’t drive the car until something is fixed.
The big catch with fixing a team is that unless you fire the coach (and UNC is not firing Davis this year unless he is caught in bed with a dead woman or a live boy), you must practice and play. Davis gave that up by not playing in the NIT.

I asked for an example of where a team did not play their season….you either failed or declined to provide examples
Yes, you asked for an example, but then you moved the goal post by saying that it had to be under certain conditions. The fact is you can't provide a rule because it doesn't exist. You were wrong. I'd suggest you stop digging that hole.

Dude don’t insult your own intelligence. Criminal investigation, death and other situations are exceptions, not the norm.

So back to my original comment, less extenuating circumstances, you play the season. However you DO NOT have to play in the NIT

Don't back track. You said they had to. Show me the rule where they have to.

Okay buddy, if it will make you feel better…they don’t have to. Now, show me where a team has not under normal circumstances? I’ll save you the trouble and time…if any instances exists it’s 1% of 1%. I’m done.

I’m sure you’re a great guy in real life, maybe not the greatest logic but a dandy to talk to in a bar after a few drinks.

Turning down the NIT isn't as common as you think either. Take out the covid year and it's happened like what 6 times in 30 years or something? I'm guessing, but I only know of 3 off the top of my head in at least the past 13 years.
