My prediction: The team is really gonna show up and win the next two handily. The AP is going to overreact even more than the fanbase and put us in the top 10 before the Pitt game. Then it’s just a matter of waiting for the rug pull.

All I want to see is if we seem to be developing a killer instinct or if we just go through the motions. I have the feeling it will be the former.
I'm interested to see how we handle the hype. A lot of talking in the media about how good the D looked, us beating lil carolina easily and Drake being a Heisman contender. So far during Mack 2.0, we've folded under the hype. I'm hesitant to believe we can handle it.
If we beat app at and minn the you can go ahead and pencil us in for a match with UGA on the last day of season.
Well it was certainly a disappointment. I know mich and tech fans are relieved they lost their home openers to app after playing badly instead of having to endure an ugly win.
I'm relieved that we won, but highly disappointed in the game we played. Know who else I hope feels the same way? All the coaches and all the players and all the fans.
It was one of the ugliest wins I've ever seen. It shows how unprepared and inconsistent the program really is, at this point. Unless ASU just has some kind of voodoo over Carolina.
If B Brooks is hurt again, it's going to make everything more difficult. Drake's targets seem to be fewer than last year. The struggles are all over the field.

not necessarily disagreeing, but they need officiating crews that don't do a better job of icing the kicker than the opposing coach does.
That game was a nightmare. It's one reason it's difficult to even enjoy Carolina football. They always drag you through the fire.
The play calling was ridiculously bad. It appears the staff is trying to turn Maye into a third round pick so he'll come back for another year.
so the last thing i’m worried about is maye’s heisman campaign…i know he can sling it, i know he can move the pocket.
what i didn’t know is carolina can run block, run the ball really well, and stop teams from scoring td’s in the red zone…idgaf about a heisman or his draft slot, he’s a top five pick which in itself is amazing.

They may be decent at run blocking, but they sure as hell can't pass protect.
that’s a fact and i’m holding out hope something clicks…the positive thing is if they can run block, you can scheme for the other…if drake wants to roll out or throw screens, do it.
i absolutely love the idea of horizontally using the field…that’s the idea now as far as scheming.

I'm guessing the next time UNC commits a legit violation, the NCAA is going to try to almost kill that sport because of the whole academic situation that they couldn't do anything about. That's my guess as to why they won't even consider playing him. I'm just wondering what the BOT can actually do besides issue a statement. From what I've read, UNC can't sue the NCAA, because we are a member school. We would be suing ourselves. Just need to get Tez to sue them.

The ball-control ability was kinda nice though. It is nice being able to run the ball down the throat of someone we should be able to run on. Some of the 3rd down conversions, even long ones, looked pretty easy.
Some of that was our size, some was Hampton, but some was committing to the run to wear them down, keep them on the field.
We are going to need to go downfield more eventually... i hope they can execute that again once it is needed.

Yeah, I’ve been complaining for years about the run game and how we should be better. I love the run game because of what you alluded to - it’s the tougher, more physical option and demoralizing for a defense when you’re cramming it down their throat. But why elect to commit to it WHEN YOU HAVE A GENERATIONAL QB? I mean, could our program have gotten the timing any more wrong? There have been teams upon teams of the last 2 decades of Carolina football that should have made such a move. Not sure limiting possessions and taking the ball out of the QB’s hands is the right move when YOUR QB IS THE BEST QB IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL.
Granted, our receivers are mediocre at best. And the pass blocking is admittedly dogshit. But why not scheme that up and get Drake out in space and allow him to make magic.
Again, I love the run game and the success we’re having. It’s just weirder than weird that it occurs now.
I agree with ball control and the ability to run, although if you remember the Miami game from several years ago we have had that ability along with the deep passing game. Longo just overused the deep ball, I think was the problem. I'd like to see a little more TE utilization and short passes (not screens) to complement the run game. Schools we play feast on us with that kind of stuff.
I get the impression that Mack is determined to develop a run game above all else.
I wasn't talking about run vs pass. I was more talking about the actual play. Every pass was basically to the sidelines. I think at one point Drake had nine completions for around 40 yards. I know we don't have the best receivers, but it's ok to throw a forward pass. A lot of RPO last night, so maybe that's on Drake and not the calls. It's just frustrating that it went from every throw to the end zone, now every throw to the sidelines.
the offense is finally working the entire field and that’s important…he needs to make those wide throws in order to make the defense respect that…sure, he needs go’s and slants, but maybe the protection isn’t there and the coaches know that, therefore get it out and make secondaries defend every blade of grass.

i cannot express enough how great it is to see them push opposing team’s fronts around while watching backs get theirs…imo, it’ll get better each week…i was sick of 2-3 go routes on every play.
however, this kicker situation, that is a large problem…i’m good with scrapping the entire project and going for two & 4th -5 every time anyway, but that’s just me.

We aren't really using the field if all we are doing is making short passes to the sidelines or quick slants. I'm not sure how much is play calling though. It could be Drake not feeling comfortable in the new offense or maybe he feels like he doesn't have enough time because the OL sucks. My post about him falling to the third round was obviously a joke.
no, i knew it was a joke, but the outcry about winning a heisman being done is silly from some…he’s third or first or second.
i believe the deep shots will come as the line gets it’s feet wet…the line, imo, needed toughness and depth…it looks like it’s been created…i mean diego pounds was great, and he’s a massive dude…this week is a perfect test, not a great pass rush, but physical and methodical.
