OOTB Carolina football discussion thread

I'm pretty sure that the NC legislature passed some sort of mandate a few years back requiring UNC and MooU to play EZU every few years. In addition to App State we've also got a home and home with UNC-Charlotte scheduled for 2024 and 2025.
UNC-Charlotte has a football team?

National Signing Day cannot get here fast enough!! We have the potential to close this recruiting class out with a bang. We have an opportunity to transform a disappointing, alarming, woefully small class of 14 guys into a legit Top 25 class with 20-23 recruits.

I don't want to sound like one of the few ncsux fans, but good things just don't happen to UNC fball lately. I refuse to get my hopes up.

And as for not getting your hopes up, I get it. But it's impossible to ignore the great work this coaching staff is doing to end this class. I think Fedora knows that he's got to close out this class strong to maintain his job down the road.

You would think so.

We have a verbal commitment that hasn’t been made public and a good chance at 3-4 more. I feel like it will be decent class. Actually better than expected after last season. Losing Wison was a huge disappointment, but overall I think we’re trending in a good direction on that side of the ball.

I’m glad that ass clown isnt coming. I didn’t really mind he flipped to State. But the bullshit he said afterwards was amateur hour.

@uncboy10 -- USuCk - Carolina in Charlotte is a regular thing. Every four years. (to address your poast on Blitz).

2015
2019
2023

Sure, it's a good OOC game, but I HATE neutral site games. They are absolute money grabs by the schools. Sure, make your money where you can, but they suck for fans. The tickets are wayyyyy more expensive than a home-and-home. The UNC - UGA game in Atlanta was a fuggin fortune. I think $200 /piece. Can't remember. I mean, I'll still pay it, but I understand why most wouldn't.

A home-and-home vs. SCar would be $80 in Columbia and $70 in Kenan. Instead, it's $150 - $220 to play in Charlotte.

I know it has been a fairly regular thing. Nobody gets more amped up for that matchup than me (grew up in cola). But it's also a lot easier for schools to schedule one game at a neutral site than a home and home. But I completely agree that a home and home would be preferable

It's tough being a Carolina Football fan :(

@notashelbyfan for the love of all that's holy, can you please convince one Cleveland County kid to go to Carolina. Please? PLEASE? We will never tease you about the movie tourney again. Cleveland County is the fukkin DMZ for Carolina Football. No-Fly Zone. The deadline at Andersonville. Etc.

Ok. I think I know who you are talking about, but I'm not sure if it's premium info so I won't say.
It's not. Dax Hollifield. We royally fukked up in this class by losing our two best LB targets.... both in-state guys.... and lost both to direct conference rivals we play every season in VT and Moo.

Oh, and LB is our most urgent position of need.

I'm not going to say anything too rash or over the top right now while my emotions are high.

But, I'll just say that I'm no longer as bullish on this staff as I used to be. Recruiting is the lifeblood of college football. This staff can't survive another recruiting cycle like this one.

Counterpoint, and I saw this on the National Board as well. But I question a kid's decision making if he chooses VT over Clemson or Stanford. You have to be really in love somewhere else (as it appears he is with Foster) to turn down a chance at Stanford. Clemson is also a no brainer. It appears he pissed off both of his parents. Maybe he just wanted to be away from them and his GF.

Stanford was too far for him to go and he's very family-oriented. I totally understand that. No way in hell at 18 would I have been able to go all the way out to Stanford, even on a full ride.

I have zero ill will toward Dax. He handled his recruitment with class. I just hate missing on all these in-state kids who go on to blow up at rival schools.

Blacksburg might as well be as far away as Stanford. I just feel like if you get a chance to play football there, you take it. If I was in his choose, I probably go:

Stanford
Clemson
UNC

VT

But apparently he loves him some Foster. Best thing Fuente did was retain Foster.

Yeah... VT is a tad closer to Shelby than Stanford lol

Tell me about it is crazy the amount of kids I watch play every Friday night get stolen by out of state schools.

Dax is going to VT and he had one or both parents that when to Carolina it's a shame.

The list the went from Crest alone out of state off the top of my head.....

Brandon Spikes
Shamar Finney
Jonathan Bullard
Raheem Ledbetter
Justin Foster
Tre Harribison

So what are you planning to do about it?

One thing that has everyone so excited out here is that Frost has made it a top goal to keep Nebraska players here. I think it may take him a while to turn things around and this state doesn't have much patience. Hell they sold 57,000 tickets to the spring game YESTERDAY.
