How are the suspensions on him? Is he supposed to be up the players ass 24/7?

Because he is ultimately in charge of the team and given that he preaches being “smart” (43000 15 yard penalties notwithstanding), he needs to to a better job of making sure the team understands the rules and how breaking the rules impacts their other teammates.

I would be slightly more sympathetic if this were just one player. However given that it is several, then the players are not ultimately to blame. And if they are, then it is still Fedoras fault for recruiting guys who are not team players.

If he gets to five wins he'll be ok because of his contact situation. Next year will be the make or break year.

I actually think he's going to be here regardless. With the extension and buyout UNC would be forking out about 8mil a year in football HC salaries if they fired him and hired a decent replacement. I just don't see that happening.

There is absolutely no way those guys didn't know what they were doing was against the rules. And how the hell is Fed supposed to know if guys he recruits would do this? Maybe Roy isn't doing a good job since he recruited PJ and McDonald. We should probably look into punishment for him. You can find legitimate reasons to get rid of Fed. This isn't one of them.

It wouldn't be that much. Fed's base is barely over $2 million. I think his contact runs through 2022, so if we get rid of him after 2019, that's only three years assuming no buyout. He won't have to do much to keep his job though. Five wins this year and seven next year would do it.

True. It’s depressing how content UNC is with mediocrity in football (or in this case, sub-mediocrity).
I don't think it's an issue with being content. I think it's a combination of Fed having such a great year in 2015, the contract situation an AD's usually giving their hires the benefit of the doubt. If Fed doesn't get to nine wins in 2020, I suspect he's gone.

There are 3 options:

1- players didn't know they were breaking a rule. Coaches to blame if this is the case

2- players knew they were breaking a rule, but didn't stop to think how it would impact team. Coaches to blame if this is the case.

3- players knew they were breaking a rule, knew how it could affect team, and still did it anyway. Coaches to blame for recruiting guys like this in the first place.

Roy is doing a fine job because he wins national championships. I will give Fedora a pass for shit like this when he too wins even just a conference championship.

In your mind, is there no situation here where someone is responsible for their own direct actions?

I could justify giving fedora some heat on this because this is just another example of a team atmosphere where discipline and accountability seems to be lacking. The stupid wtf penalties would be another one. And I admit it’s a stretch, but all those injuries last year is a red flag to me as well. Seems to me there is a severe lack of focus on the field and off. Maybe he’s too much of the good guy mentality to the players as opposed to a disciplinarian?

let’s say they did, would the impression be that the university needs to care, or is caring about football, or that it’s too embarrassing to continue to be average?

i hate to bring this up again, i won’t even mention his name, but his replacement at s.miss had to work through a mess of players not used to discipline and accountability.

and before i get crushed, he said this during fall camp before his first and only horrible season as a head coach.

Well if we're waiting until 2020 to make a change, we damn well better be content with (sub)mediocrity. We'll be seeing plenty of it.

That's kind of the motto for UNC football. Seriously though, I wouldn't consider nine wins mediocrity. That's probably going to get us in the top 25. If we can get to a 9-10 win average, I'd be ok with that. It would be an improvement from what we are used to.

No neither would I, my bad if I sounded like I was calling 9 wins mediocre. I just don't think we'll have a 9 win season by the end of 2020 if we maintain our current situation.

It involves getting them off the field as fast as possible to get your tired defense back on the field.
Studies have shown that defensive units aren't as tired later in the game if they stop the other team from advancing the football. At least 80% of the time a defense forces a three and out, they get to come off the field.

Apparently our WR's put on a show as a group Sat. during the first scrimmage. Talked to a guy earlier that said Elliott ("obvious leader of that offense at this point") & Surratt are both improved with Surratt looking like things are starting to click. At RB Williams and Williams are the real deal. On OL Sweet and Heck are studs. Said Tyler Powell played like a beast and the D looked decent overall.

Reading good things about freshman Javonte Williams as well. I doubt we’ll go four deep in the RB rotation, but he might see the field if we’re in a blowout (either way, yikes). It’s also nice to have a little insurance at that position.

Carter is out with a broken wrist.

as a joke, or sarcasm if you will, what does it matter if one of four rb’s is ailing when fedora doesn’t even exhaust the ones he has?

I feel like you're saying this is my fault. Haha

Welp, no one else has mentioned running back depth at all about this team. Anywhere. Ever. Not once.

Then YOU had to go and say something. Might as well have hit that poor kid's teeny, tiny, fragile wrist with Larry's sledge. Bringing that bad UA juju down on Chapel Hill.

Typhoid Raisin'...the Continental.

Dammit

Someone posted a video on Twitter showing the quarterbacks throwing go routes to receivers without a pass rush and without the receivers being guarded. Smh. Good news: couple receivers made spectacular
Catches. Bad news: couple receivers had to make spectacular catches.
