OOTB Carolina football discussion thread

You gotta be kidding me . . . Stoops isn't coming to Chapel Hill, ever. LOL . . I don't care how much money is dangled in front of him, it ain't gonna happen. Keep dreaming.

Once, you've played varsity ball, you never stoop to JV ball . .

;)
I don't think he would come either, but it wouldn't hurt to just give him a call. I don't want to get in a situation where we don't even try to get a coach with P5 experience. We shouldn't just default to the mid major flavor of the month.

It would be nice to lure a seasoned, proven coach like Tx A&M did with Jimbo Fischer.

If only they had "sniped" Fed from us like everyone was afraid they'd do, lol... maybe we'd have a .500 team this year.

There has to be some Petrino type hire out there, right? Some jackass that will have some personal scandal that is preventing more reputable teams from hiring him. Sign me up for that guy. If Urban Meyer ends up getting canned at OSU? Wow. Sure, come to Chapel Hill and conveniently forget to fire your jackass assistants when they **** up, but bring us to the CFP.

Lou Holtz went from a national championship at Notre Dame to South Carolina.

Steve Spurrier went from a national championship at Florida to South Carolina.

Lefty Driesell went from NIT Championship and a handful of ACC championships to James Madison and Georgia State.

Just to name a few. It's not like UNC doesn't offer a lot of other attractive things outside of the quality of the program.

You mean, as Dean Smith would say. Lefty Dray-sell . . . ? LOL

Maybe, he wanted to make both of those skools, the 'UCLA of the East' . .

Lefty was a freaking joke.

Fed has to go. Like yesterday. I like the dude. I really do. But we're not progressing as a program. Plus, the whole shoe thing, tearing up the duke locker room, and having DBs celebrate pass break ups isn't a good look when you're hoping for .500 seasons. We can't beat moo and duke which is pitiful and there's just no excitement about the program. It's over.

Open up the bank for Bob Stoops. Give him what he wants. Call today.

i appreciate the idea, but damn...we’d be better off checking to see if phil fulmer still had a pulse.

What? Are you saying you wouldn’t want Stoops?

no part of you wonders why his nickname is “big game bob”?

i mean, sure, the name is like butch or even spurrier, but again, why on earth would he retire from that job to coach this job?...fulmer is just reading fan mail in his custom made office...he might actually desire the grind.

midway through 1st qtr now.

the defense looks okay, certainly ross.

i’ve seen cal flop like three times...is this going on all game?

i will say this, it does look like no matter what time and circumstance, larry is still never going to make it easy for our qb.

so that carney play, there’s your postcard for this program.

a leader, a captain, a senior, a guy that bailed on his team to sell kicks, gets frustrated by a 5’10” white dude that will probably be an agent to a guy like carney in the league...unbelievable

1st half was fukking embarrassing.

i know it’s cal, but dudes were in positions to make plays on defense...it becomes a mentality then.

the offense, though, fedora’s baby, sucks.

Some interesting tidbits

Unc is most penalized team in acc since 2012. 12 penalties against cal for over 100 yds

Unc is 3-14 in last 17 games

Fedora has gone off the rails in recent media interviews being hostile and making “wtf” statements. Yesterday he claims he doesnt remeber losing to ecu 70-41. And he wasnt joking. He got all testy when pressed on it later in another interview.

I got a bad feeling this season is going in the crapper. I feel hes lost the teams confidence. Opposing teams seem to know our offense better than we do and fed continues to refuse to make in game adjustments. Instead he claims its a matter of execution. Well u cant execute when you’re so fking predictable.

I get the feeling you're not a Fed fan.

I get the feeling you're not a Fed fan.

I have been. Really i loved him and defended him last year esp with all the injuries. But shit just keeps piling up making it harder and harder to support him. The penalties, the off field stuff, the wtf play calling and now these bizarre interviews which are a red flag to me that hes letting the strain get to him. But it all boils down to wins and losses. Imo theres no excuse to not win 7 games in this weak ass conference with our schedule. So we’ll see.

I’ve been as big of a fan of fed as anyone on these boards, and I’ve gone after the folks that irrationally attack him on numerous occasions.

But I’ve lost all confidence. I’m grateful that he got us through a tough time, and produced one of the best seasons we’ve ever had. If we were still putting up big offensive numbers then I might hold out hope. But the play calling is actually funny it’s so bad. Game management is terrible. The team is undisciplined. These problems all land squarely on fed’s shoulders. And there seems to be zero recognition of that on his part.

We have about zero chance of winning the division for probably the next three years. Miami and VT are going to pull away more and more every year and that’s going to make it damn near impossible to attract high level talent.

If someone has a plausible explanation of how Fed can turn this program around a full 180 degrees then I’d be happy to hear it. But I just don’t see it happening anymore. Even at his peak, bad coaching still cost us crucial games.

Well i know we’re down some players against ecu due to injuries and suspensions. But here we are looking like we’re pretty evenly matched against ecu. Thats where we’re at. Fighting for our lives against a team that will prob win 2 or 3 games this year. 4 straight penalties on 4 plays. Stupid penalites. God what a cluster fk.

We had that one great season (thanks Marquise!) and the next one with Mitch was ok (but should’ve been better). Now the poor coaching and weak recruiting is catching up to Fed. I’m done with trying to defend him and his system. I’ll still pull for he Heels to win every game, but the best thing for our football program - if you can EVEN call it a program at this point - is for us to finish 1-11 and Bubba finally pulls the trigger.

PLEASE Bubba PLEASE! Get us a real coach. There is no excuse for this shit show.

I like Fedora, but don't feel like he can turn this train around. His coaching cost us some crucial games even when things were clicking. The team isn't prepared for the season opener. We lack discipline. Inconsistent play on one side of the ball or other. Playing down to the level of the competition. At this point, you would expect to have some of those issues fixed.

I could not agree more with what you said here believe it or not. I feel the same on everything you ssid.

It really puzzles me how he could succeed and win like he did in 2015 and then just decline and be flat-out terrible. Maybe it was a bit of a mirage.

I'm also sick of fvcking clemson and dabo and the fans are rolling in their perceived royalty again.

I'm at the local Pak-Mail store Friday and I know the owner well. He wears orange on Fridays to sort of pander to the local clientele (wise businessman). And, I asked "Who are they playing this weekend?" He says "Texas A&M." I said "Oh, that will probably be their one true test this season." Then the UPS driver chimes-in with "Well, until we beat Alabama for the National Championship!"

I’ve never cared for clem’s son either but it must really suck to live in the middle of all that.
