OOTB's Political Thread . ..

If only it were funny rather than very, very sad that you think that has any actual meat on the bone.

Still waiting on schifty and all the others btw. You'll just never get it or you've dug so deep at this point, you can't admit it. In for an ounce, in for a pound I guess.

And yet only three have, and only one has been impeached TWICE.

Too funny.
so? If you aren't aware of the way this country has become an unethical political battlefield where the good of the country has taken second place to political power, there's no reason to converse with you as if you were an adult.

Those impeachments were a shameful embarrassment, and the first was for something that Biden bragged about having done himself while VP.

  • 1973: The US Department of Justice — under the Nixon administration, out of all administrations — sued the Trump Management Corporation for violating the Fair Housing Act. Federal officials found evidence that Trump had refused to rent to Black tenants and lied to Black applicants about whether apartments were available, among other accusations. Trump said the federal government was trying to get him to rent to welfare recipients. In the aftermath, he signed an agreement in 1975 agreeing not to discriminate to renters of color without admitting to previous discrimination.
  • 1980s: Kip Brown, a former employee at Trump’s Castle, accused another one of Trump’s businesses of discrimination. “When Donald and Ivana came to the casino, the bosses would order all the black people off the floor,” Brown said. “It was the eighties, I was a teenager, but I remember it: They put us all in the back.”
  • 1989: In a controversial case that’s been characterized as a modern-day lynching, four Black teenagers and one Latino teenager — the “Central Park Five” — were accused of attacking and raping a jogger in New York City. Trump immediately took charge in the case, running an ad in local papers demanding, “BRING BACK THE DEATH PENALTY. BRING BACK OUR POLICE!” The teens’ convictions were later vacated after they spent seven to 13 years in prison, and the city paid $41 million in a settlement to the teens. But Trump in October 2016 said he still believes they’re guilty, despite the DNA evidence to the contrary.
  • 1991: A book by John O’Donnell, former president of Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, quoted Trump’s criticism of a Black accountant: “Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day. … I think that the guy is lazy. And it’s probably not his fault, because laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is, I believe that. It’s not anything they can control.” Trump later said in a 1997 Playboy interview that “the stuff O’Donnell wrote about me is probably true.”
  • 1992: The Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino had to pay a $200,000 fine because it transferred Black and women dealers off tables to accommodate a big-time gambler’s prejudices.
  • 1993: In congressional testimony, Trump said that some Native American reservations operating casinos shouldn’t be allowed because “they don’t look like Indians to me.”
  • 2000: In opposition to a casino proposed by the St. Regis Mohawk tribe, which he saw as a financial threat to his casinos in Atlantic City, Trump secretly ran a series of ads suggesting the tribe had a “record of criminal activity [that] is well documented.”
  • 2004: In season two of The Apprentice, Trump fired Kevin Allen, a Black contestant, for being overeducated. “You’re an unbelievably talented guy in terms of education, and you haven’t done anything,” Trump said on the show. “At some point you have to say, ‘That’s enough.’”
  • 2005: Trump publicly pitched what was essentially The Apprentice: White People vs. Black People. He said he “wasn’t particularly happy” with the most recent season of his show, so he was considering “an idea that is fairly controversial — creating a team of successful African Americans versus a team of successful whites. Whether people like that idea or not, it is somewhat reflective of our very vicious world.”
  • 2010: In 2010, there was a huge national controversy over the “Ground Zero Mosque” — a proposal to build a Muslim community center in Lower Manhattan, near the site of the 9/11 attacks. Trump opposed the project, calling it “insensitive,” and offered to buy out one of the investors in the project. On The Late Show With David Letterman, Trump argued, referring to Muslims, “Well, somebody’s blowing us up. Somebody’s blowing up buildings, and somebody’s doing lots of bad stuff.”
  • 2011: Trump played a big role in pushing false rumors that Obama — the country’s first Black president — was not born in the US. He claimed to send investigators to Hawaii to look into Obama’s birth certificate. Obama later released his birth certificate, calling Trump a “carnival barker.” The research has found a strong correlation between birtherism, as the conspiracy theory is called, and racism. But Trump has reportedly continued pushing this conspiracy theory in private.
  • 2011: While Trump suggested that Obama wasn’t born in the US, he also argued that maybe Obama wasn’t a good enough student to have gotten into Columbia or Harvard Law School, and demanded Obama release his university transcripts. Trump claimed, “I heard he was a terrible student. Terrible. How does a bad student go to Columbia and then to Harvard?”

“Donald Trump — and I get beat up by liberals every time I say this, but I’m gonna keep saying it — he has done good stuff for the black community,” Jones said on CNN, where he is a frequent contributor. “Opportunity zone stuff, black college stuff. I worked with him on criminal justice stuff. I saw Donald Trump have African American people, formerly incarcerated, in the White House — embraced them, treated them well. There’s a side to Donald Trump that I think he does not get enough credit for.”

I know this will excite and disappointment some here:

I love it. I haven't seen a half hour of Tucker Carlson on his previous show (but I have from references here and a bit on youtube), but I think he is a valuable asset for truth-seekers. I also don't do social media, but I might end up joining Twitter for the reasons he gave.

And what he says here is nothing less than the perfect truth. You have to understand the limitations of the truth in what you're being fed, and that includes what he says. I'd bet large that he would agree with that..

What do you wanna bet he never pays her a dollar? And still wins the Presidency in 24?

Ok, ok, that second part might be a stretch. We’ve already seen how the establishment won’t let him win. But we’re still hopeful.

With every passing day of America in the shitter and every made up lie and attempt to hurt Trump, his base grows stronger.

Thanks for reminding me about this guy. He calls himself "Michael the Black Guy".

Crazy as Fvck. Claims Spike Lee, Jessie Jackson, Collin Kaeperknick, Maxine Waters, Obama are all cherokee indians.

His website links to some sweet conspiracies:

"PRES. ROOSEVELT & DEMS, STARTED VALKYRIE in 1944 to keep DEMS. SECRET SOCIETIES, & CENTRAL BANKERS in Control of America."

I honestly don't get why so many make it about personality instead of effectiveness as an executive. I don't care one wit how much of an asshole a president or other politician is as long as he is an effective leader doing work that I approve of.

“If you believe in his policies, what he’s advertising as his policies, he’s the last person that could actually execute them and achieve them,” Barr, a longtime ally of Trump, replied to Rivera at a City Club of Cleveland luncheon Friday in Ohio.

Trump, who is currently running to retake the White House in the 2024 election, “does not have the discipline. He does not have the ability for strategic thinking and linear thinking or setting priorities, or how to get things done in the system,” Barr continued.

“It is a horror show when he’s left to his own devices,” the ex-attorney general added. “So, you may want his policies, but Trump will not deliver Trump policies. He will deliver chaos.”

That chaos, warned Barr, would ultimately result in Trump’s policies being set “much further back than they would otherwise be.”

Ah, so now you decide to believe in polls, huh. Months ago when I shared results from polls indicating the Donald was considered by presidential experts to be one of the three worst presidents in American history, you scoffed and claimed there was no truth or accuracy in polls.

the 'chaos' that I witnessed during Trump's presidency is a walk in the park compared to what Biden is doing to us. Funny the positives of his time at the helm are never brought up by your crew, only smears on how badly he screws stuff up; yet there's no evidence of that having happened. For example, his policies brought about record black employment...yet what you idiots feed us is how he's a bigot. And on and on.

What exactly were the policies that brought about more employment of black people?

Note, there is a reason why I won't "tout" the employment rate trends for blacks and hispanics under Obama (which Trump inherited) and Biden's awesome employment numbers:
presidents can't really take credit for major economic shifts, they have no control over business cycles, global macroeconomics, tech changes, etc.

Biden Admin has pushed thru tons of positive legislation. His admin is not a disaster at all, it's been more positive than I expected. Biden himself is just a figure-head who has hired some decent people around him and mostly listened to well-chosen advisors.

what is the positive legislation that you refer to and please tell us how he pushed anything through without still contradicting your remarks about his puppet masters. I won't get started just yet, but we'll probably end up talking about the insane influx of illegals and loan debt relief and inflation and that sort of thing.

Or we could skip all the dancing and get right down to the essentials.

James Earl Carter, Jr. doesn't impress me as much of a narcissist. Dwight Eisenhower didn't seem to be steeped in narcissism, either. They all have to be driven, or ambitious, to achieve that office. I think we can all agree on that. Some of them become more narcissistic after they become president.

whatever you say, chief. I'm not bullshitting that it isn't social media, I just don't care if you call it that and as I already explained, this isn't what I was referring to. then we can agree that the shorter list is of presidents who do not tend to narcissism. But I'm no expert on narcissism, according to @carolinablue34.

just for the sake of reality, Biden ended the war when it was set by Trump to be ended, except that he was late and he botched the fvck out of it. His original infrastructure bill was gutted down to what we should have gotten from obama and that pretty much everyone wanted. The climate has not changed back so far as I can tell, but maybe it's cooler in your part of Raleigh. The lower prescription drug plan is part of his 'combat the inflation that I'm responsible for' plan. The CHIPS for America act is a way for us to pay for our semiconductors twice. Leading world leaders to support Ukraine would be quite an accomplishment if it wasn't us doing most of the supporting.

The gun control bill is his shining moment. There hasn't been a mass shooting since...oh wait a minute...

Ummm, the bill is massive and BOSIDES are praising and touting it to their constituents, trying to take credit, even if they didn't vote for it.
of course it's massive, recklessly so in inception to the tune of like 6 TRILLION dollars, and as I indicated, infrastructure attention is what we should have gotten when obama took an obscene amount of money and threw it up in the air. Biden 'pushed through' what there was little resistance to from either side in the infrastructure bill. Few opposed it because we should have gotten it way back when. What you're avoiding acknowledging is the massive glut that was the companion Build Back Better part of the legislation, which became the laughable Inflation Reduction Act after some serious trimming.

spending hog

"After the Democrats delayed the August recess, the U.S. Senate passed the slimmed-down version of the huge “Build Back Better” tax-and-spend blow-out bill this past weekend. The vote was 51 to 50, with Vice President Kamala Harris casting the deciding vote. No Republican voted for the monstrosity. Tragically, this is exactly what happened when the Democrats passed Obamacare on Christmas Eve 2009 with no Republican votes.

This BBB-light legislation is now euphemistically called the Inflation Reduction Act. You can call a pig a dog, but the fact remains that the animal is still a pig. The Penn Wharton Budget Model predicts the impact of the law on inflation will be essentially zero. And any potential effect on inflation would be years away, providing no relief for Americans now experiencing the worst inflation in decades."

Now you're just being obstinate. That bipartisan bill is a biggie.
I support legislation that fights climate change. But this is just another throw-money-at-it scheme. If Biden and the dems had the balls to really affect climate change, they would come down hard on the causes instead of investing in 'research' and charging stations, etc. They just want to throw money at a problem to say they did, and add to the debt instead of actually accomplishing something.

Right, like climate change, the thing EVERYONE wants was also in the Inflation Reduction Act, along with means to improve IRS tax collection. - Things BOSIDES are praising and touting to their constituents. trying to take credit, even if they didn't vote for it.
everyone wants lower prescription prices, but not everyone wants them dictated by government...and the lower prescription prices brought about in the IRA bill are a drop in the bucket. Not even worth mentioning. And the means to improve tax collection could better be spent on more Border Patrol agents instead of IRS agents.

Obstinate and ignorant.
lol, yet you don't say how that's so. Talk about ignorant and obstinate.

Now then, want to talk about the millions of illegal immigrants flooding us, the economy that some say is in recession, inflation, the huge increases to the debt, etc., etc.? I want you to convince me that overall, Joe Biden is a better president than Donald Trump was. Or should I just assume the standard answer of 'but Trump was a liar and a narcissist'.

Even democrats acknowledge he's terrible. Of course, that won't keep them from voting for him.

Excerpts from last night’s CNN Republican Town Hall:

because she pressed him on issues and topics that caused him discomfort.
As far as fact checking, l’ll just say…Holy Hell! He retold so many lies that it was challenging to
find any statements that were truths.

1) The 2020 Presidential election was rigged. He repeated this statement more than a dozen times.
2) A “couple of people” got out of control on January 6.
3) Nasty Nancy Pelosi and the mayor of DC were responsible for crowd control on that day.
4) “l didn’t ask Brad Raffensburger to find anything.”
5) He declassified all the documents which he removed from the White House and was constantly
negotiating with NARA for their return. He noted that many other presidents have also removed documents.
6) The United States has given 171B in military aid support to Ukraine compared to 20B from the EU, when
the actual US contribution is 39B. As a result the US military is now “running out of ammunition.”
He stated that if he were president, he WOULD “end the war in Ukraine in 24 hours.”
7) He made false statements about current and past US economies and current inflation.
8) He made false statements about US energy production during his and the Biden Administration.
9) He made false statements about tax cuts during previous and current administrations.
9) He built “hundreds of miles of Border Wall and finished it.” Fifty-two miles of wall were built during his
administration.

He doesn’t know the “whack job, E Jean Carroll” and doubled down on his Access Hollywood comments.
”Stars, and I’m not saying that I’m a star, have been approaching women that way for more than a million years,
at least.”

He would not take a definitive stand on a national abortion law, made false statements about voter identification
laws and policies, disagreed that Mike Pence was in danger on January 6, and would not answer whether
he wanted Ukraine to win the war against Russia.

The audience cheered and laughed at his derogatory comments.

Trump certainly kept the fact checkers busy last night and well into the morning. More importantly, we saw the same Donald Trump lamenting the past without introducing any new ideas or policies for 2024. In the round table discussion with Republican supporters following the town hall, every one of them sounded disappointed and a bit melancholy by the same ol' same ol' from their chosen leader. It was about as lively as a funeral wake.

I might be mistaken, but I swear I could hear champaign bottles being uncorked last night at the White House. This was definitely a gift for Joe Biden.

If I may pile on, I would like to share my favorite moments from last night:

4) After Trump proclaimed “l didn’t ask Brad Raffensburger to find anything," Kaitlyn Collins quickly reminded him that there is audio evidence widely available to dispute this. In predictable fashion, Trump countered by calling it a "perfect call” which of course for Donald Trump is code for highly illegal.

6) Not only did he fudge the dollar amounts of U.S. and European military aid to Ukraine, he claimed he could end the conflict in 24 hours. I believe him, but I also believe the only way he could do that is by surrendering the power of negotiations to Putin and in effect handing Ukraine over to the Russians. What a losers mentality!

Regarding his five-million-dollar legal troubles with E. Jean Carroll, which is now under appeal, he continued last night to make personal attacks against her. Oh, well, so much for overturning that ruling.

The uproarious applause whenever Trump made his mostly untruthful proclamations was amusing to watch, but the knee-slapping guffaws he elicited from the crowd every time he slung insults at Carroll, Kaitlyn Collins, or Nancy Pelosi, were reminders of just how ignorant his followers are.
