OOTB's Political Thread . ..

You and blueballs incessant, zero-sum, ‘must win every post’ style is really getting old.
I'm sure the losing gets old, pr. Have you considered NOT losing? I can tell you that it feels pretty good to not lose. But not losing isn't a given. To begin with, you have to not be an idiot. Good luck with that.

So a whore who slept her way to the top that has an adulterous husband picked a china loving, DUI having socialist as her running mate and you idiots want to talk about Trumps morals...

WTF are "traditional American values?" You can make those mean just about anything your imagination can conjure-up. Protestant populist mixing of church and state is not traditional, but it's exactly something the HF would claim is absolutely "traditional American values." Its just a feel-good platitude that's basically used for playing CULT-ural mad-libs. And, King Shit-For-Brains would gladly play the role of the autocrat that helps implement as much as possible.

Walz is def a likable “happy go lucky” kind of guy. Refreshing for sure but it’s hard to take him serious as a potential president. I wouldn’t sleep well with him or Vance as president tbh.

I can’t remember the last time a politician made me laugh, not at him but with him, but Walz just said he’s willing to debate Vance “if he’s ready to get off the couch”.
that was awesome

eta: the fact that he said it was lol enough…he’s got jokes.

The stupidity you are displaying makes my point. You should have consumed more common sense-based material than whatever it was that numbed your mind.

Here's a video similar to what I first referenced. Condone having young children exposed to this all you want to, you are merely identifying your ignorance as being the problem.

here's more, and more in depth...

That doesnt shock me at all. What is “young children”? Is that book in an elementary school or a high school?

First time I got a BJ was when I was 15 and so was the girl. But heaven forbid they read about it?

Again, they have the internet in their back pocket. Trying to act like kids can be protected from that information is insane. Not only that- the pastor is free to prohibit his own kids. I dont get upset when he teaches his kid about a fairy in the sky the created the universe and has caused more untold numbers of wars and conflicts in its name.

In other news, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry has stated how his state’s government will defend
the law which requires that the Ten Commandments must be posted in every public school classroom:
“If parents find those posters to be vulgar, they should tell their children not to look at them.” 🤔

Kinda like the ignore this poster option on northcarolina.forums.rivals.com.

it's pretty simple. Make sure you aren't thinking it's a complex idea.

Suppose you want Ross Perot like I did in whatever year that was with the three major candidates. Suppose you do NOT want Bill Clinton, so your acceptable second choice is Bush. But you don't get a second choice, and (IMO) the votes that Perot gets are drawn off the votes that Bush would have gotten, resulting in a Clinton victory with less than half of the popular vote.. In other words, I screwed myself by voting for who I wanted. But if I was able to rank choices, I and many others like me would have succeeded in seeing Bush elected (a Perot victory was unrealistic but still, he secured a big chunk of the popular vote).

So a ranked choice vote represents a chance for the will of the people to not get shanghaied by voting your preference. It's lunacy for a Bill Clinton to get elected when the majority of people wanted either Ross Perot or George H.W. Bush. So there's that but there's more.

Now, Ross Perot's candidacy isn't just a monkey wrench in the works, it's given credence and allowed to grow into something more significant, rather than being seen as at best a wasted vote.

With his (Perot's) political presence now meaning something, the other parties must pay attention to what the attraction is, and adjust their philosophies accordingly, again forcing elections to favor the will of the people. And who knows, his party might coalesce with another to form a better, more representative party that is responsive to the voters and not so much to the quest to remain in power.
Well said!

Let me add one more point. If people aren't so worried about "throwing their vote away" and they vote Perot, then Bush (to use your example), Perot might actually win.

Keep in mind that in your example there were people on both sides who liked Perot. I wonder if anyone has done a retrospective analysis to see if Perot might have won in an IRV race? Probably not because I don't think anyone was asking questions like that on any scale back then. But it would be interesting to know.

Are people saying the 10C posters are "vulgar"? Inappropriate, sure, but vulgar?

If Landry was running for anything outside Louisiana, I would understand this posting. Is he? And I just never understand this stuff. Environments like this either need to be neutral about almost anything that can be reasonably eliminated, or they need to be inclusory of everything. Therefore, the only place it would be appropriate to discuss the 10 in a public school would be a class that was studying the religions of the world. You know, Christianity, Judaism, Muslim, liberalism, communism, socialism, environmentalism, etc.

Seriously though, at the other end of this spectrum, why would a governor find it appropriate to sign into law legislation that requires tampons and other feminine hygiene products be placed in boy's bathrooms in public buildings, including schools? I told my wife that maybe it's because he's been deer hunting and they make great scent wicks on the cheap.
