OOTB's Political Thread . ..

Sanders is on record supporting and voting for a radical lunatic presidential candidate who repeatedly and explicitly stated that the US was to blame for the Iranian Hostage Crisis.

Does this make you feel better?

Yes

If someone put a gun to my head and made me voice support for either sanders or trump I’d pull the trigger myself. That make u feel better

Not a Bernie supporter but this is all a lie. He was never a member of swp let alone a “leader” and never supported the Iranian hostage takers. He did criticize carter’s handling of the situation though.

And a trump supporter calling another politician a fuking fruitcake pegs the irony meter. Pegs it, then shatters the glass, then catches fire and burns the place down.
The unrest in Iran during the time of the hostage takeover was a direct result of actions by the United Sates going back decades. Anyone who argues otherwise is a liar, a fool, or both.

First of all, I was asking the old man. Part of why I was asking is seeing if he could even articulate it. You didn't need to come to his rescue.

Secondly, I'm of the opinion that we as a country do what we need to do for our best interest. If there are consequences to our actions, I don't see that as "reaction". I see that as another country standing in our way to prosperity. So frankly, there are no actions that justify it to me.

Justify is a slippery slope. There’s no denying that the US Mid East policy laid the groundwork for a Muslim revolt against their governments and establishment of theocracies that despise United States. That does not justify terrorism though.

Sounds like you agree that our actions resulted in the unrest in Iran. I never gave an opinion on whether the actions were good or bad

I think in hindsight most people would agree that harboring the Shah was pretty dumb and completely unnecessary. Carter was a hypocrite in that he cared so much for human rights but helped a guy who was really shitty.

And u remind Mexico’s president he’s paying for the border wall. Deal?

He already has by enforcing the Mexican southern border. The cost savings from the reduction of immigrants has more than paid for it.

Piece of cake.

Serious question - does anyone on this board want Bernie as President? Does anyone actually think Socialism would work on a large scale here in the US?

Socialism- the 10 Planks of Communism, in fact- has been implemented in the USA for... almost 100 years now.

There have been social programs, sure. Social Security, medicare, etc. etc.

However, Bernie wants radical changes to our entire healthcare system, education system, and financial institutions. That's unprecedented in modern America.

And by proving in here Bernie never went on record supporting the Iranian hostage takers I have exposed what’s his name on Twitter as a liar.

As if all three don’t need radical changes

I already told him for you that he needs to change his approach to saying he supported a presidential candidate who supported the Iranian hostages because we all know this changes everything.

If you think Bernie would make the us more socialist than it already is you don’t know socialism. Having said that I would never vote for him because I think he’s unqualified much the same way Trump is unqualified

Here... try this:
The "10 Planks" and how they are implemented in the USA

1.
Abolition of private property and the application of all rents of land to public purposes.
Americans do these with actions such as the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution (1868), and various zoning, school & property taxes. Also the Bureau of Land Management (Zoning laws are the first step to government property ownership)

2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.
Americans know this as misapplication of the 16th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, 1913, The Social Security Act of 1936.; Joint House Resolution 192 of 1933; and various State "income" taxes. We call it "paying your fair share".

3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.
Americans call it Federal & State estate Tax (1916); or reformed Probate Laws, and limited inheritance via arbitrary inheritance tax statutes.

4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.
Americans call it government seizures, tax liens, Public "law" 99-570 (1986); Executive order 11490, sections 1205, 2002 which gives private land to the Department of Urban Development; the imprisonment of "terrorists" and those who speak out or write against the "government" (1997 Crime/Terrorist Bill); or the IRS confiscation of property without due process. Asset forfeiture laws are used by DEA, IRS, ATF etc...).

5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly.
Americans call it the Federal Reserve which is a privately-owned credit/debt system allowed by the Federal Reserve act of 1913. All local banks are members of the Fed system, and are regulated by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) another privately-owned corporation. The Federal Reserve Banks issue Fiat Paper Money and practice economically destructive fractional reserve banking.

6. Centralization of the means of communications and transportation in the hands of the State.
Americans call it the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Department of Transportation (DOT) mandated through the ICC act of 1887, the Commissions Act of 1934, The Interstate Commerce Commission established in 1938, The Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Communications Commission, and Executive orders 11490, 10999, as well as State mandated driver's licenses and Department of Transportation regulations.

7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the state, the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.
Americans call it corporate capacity, The Desert Entry Act and The Department of Agriculture… Thus read "controlled or subsidized" rather than "owned"… This is easily seen in these as well as the Department of Commerce and Labor, Department of Interior, the Environmental Protection Agency, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, Bureau of Mines, National Park Service, and the IRS control of business through corporate regulations.

8. Equal liability of all to labor. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture.
Americans call it Minimum Wage and slave labor like dealing with our Most Favored Nation trade partner; i.e. Communist China. We see it in practice via the Social Security Administration and The Department of Labor. The National debt and inflation caused by the communal bank has caused the need for a two "income" family. Woman in the workplace since the 1920's, the 19th amendment of the U.S. Constitution, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, assorted Socialist Unions, affirmative action, the Federal Public Works Program and of course Executive order 11000.

9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries, gradual abolition of the distinction between town and country, by a more equitable distribution of population over the country.
Americans call it the Planning Reorganization act of 1949 , zoning (Title 17 1910-1990) and Super Corporate Farms, as well as Executive orders 11647, 11731 (ten regions) and Public "law" 89-136. These provide for forced relocations and forced sterilization programs, like in China.

10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children's factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production.
Americans are being taxed to support what we call 'public' schools, but are actually "government force-tax-funded schools " Even private schools are government regulated. The purpose is to train the young to work for the communal debt system. We also call it the Department of Education, the NEA and Outcome Based "Education" . These are used so that all children can be indoctrinated and inculcated with the government propaganda, like "majority rules", and "pay your fair share".

What's wrong with them?

I'll give you that student loan debt sucks, but free college isn't free. It's going to cost taxpayers trillions of dollars so instead of student loan debt you'll just have people giving up 60% of their paychecks. Same shit.

Healthcare free for all is same issue as above. I personally see nothing wrong with my insurance, its costs, or pharma companies making money. They save lives with their innovation (hey Bernie, bet you like those Stents in your heart!) and we should be leading the world in that research.

Our financial system is the greatest in the world, why would we want to change that?

So again, why are we asking for these radical changes that have proven don't work on a large scale?

nailed it

throw in eminent domain, welfare, subsidies, tariffs, executive privilege, osha, fda, spying on us citizens without warrants, licensing and permits, and now the requirement of “real id” and it’s obvious to anyone paying attention the us is socialist.

You're not serious, are you?

This economy is going to crash harder than 2008. For one thing, it was never actually corrected when it happened in 2008/9. Look at who Obama made Secretary of the Treasury and Fed chair! Trump's financial leadership is the same old/same old.

If you think everything is working just fine, as it is, I dunno what to say to you.

The WORLD is Socialist! It's moving in that direction, and has been, for over 2 centuries. It's sort of inevitable.

Wanna bet?

I'll bet in the next 5 years that the DOW does not lose more than 56% of its current average, median household wealth does not fall over 35%, and we don't lose more than 4% of our GDP.
I will gladly bet you! 5 years? I like those odds!

They are deregulating the shit out of the system AGAIN! After 40 years or more of making sure it crashed, and everyone responsible escaped with millions in their accounts. If you think everything is being done with "sound principles" now, that's your choice.

I didn't say I agreed with it... I'm just telling you what's happening. When I read the Communist Manifesto, objectively, it sounds compelling! It's like reading any work of fiction, or even philosophical prose. It's sort of a fantasy like "This might be cool, but it could never happen exactly like this." I read about financial systems that are based in Austrian Economics and think the same thing. I'm learning that economics and math don't really go together.

There's no ONE system purely enacted in any society. It's a mixture of all that humanity has developed... what has worked, and what hasn't... throughout history. It's always changing.

no offense @heelmanwilm , but I don’t think I’ve ever seen you support anything. You just shit on everything. What or who could possibly garner your support?

yeah I admit I’m pretty damn negative regarding politics these days. If McCain were alive I would support him or someone of similar make but he was the last of a dying breed pun intended. ItsJust progressed to the point where both sides seem to think they’re justified in the lying and misleading cause the other side is evil and the ends justified the means. Just look at the impeachment hearings and the supreme court justice hearings. No one has any Shame. And that goes for both parties. So when I detect what I believe is somebody propping up one party as more honest or more “moral” than the other Or going after another candidate dishonestly it just makes my blood boil.

I want in on this bet too. You and @dadika13 come to terms first and then I will bet whatever you want.
