OOTB's Political Thread . ..

I care, because you said "Never prosecuted for perjury. No consequences whatsoever." which is a complete falsehood. No wonder you engage in such full-throated defense of Trump.

Ok, let me amend my response to:

no meaningful consequences whatsoever.

Gotcha. It’s perfectly fine for you to do that to me, but when it’s reversed the rules change. Kind of like your feelings on assault.
a) The question was obviously about a president condoning assault on a journalist, but shame on me for failing to word it in a way that closed every possible loophole.
b) You crossed the line. I suggest we both just let it go now.

Did you not cross a line? Or are you insinuating this is all my fault?

I think the differences here stem from what each person wants the President to do/be.

Some people want the President to be beacon of morality and truth - Trump is not this.

Some people want the President to have good policies that make the country better - Trump has some good policies and some bad ones, I generally think the good ones outweigh the bad ones but that is a matter of opinion I guess.

Some people (this is where I am) want the President to make people that think they know better than everyone else to lose their minds - Trump delivers this in spades.

Who are you referring to? The general public?
Sure. Maybe "knows better than everyone else" wasn't really what I was going for there.

A certainly non-exhaustive list would include anyone who:
  • Thinks you need years of political experience to be President
  • Thinks the President has a large impact on their personal life
  • Gets easily offended when someone is given a nickname or mocked

The difference is the letter next to the name. That's all. If trump had a D next to his name most people on both sides would have the opposite opinion.

Ya, that's true too. I feel like I'm at least somewhat consistent. I really like AOC because she makes a ton of people lose their shit over the stupidest things too.

Even though I like Trump and AOC for those reasons, on the policy side I tend to lean more towards liking Trump's policies than AOC's. So I'm not sure I could ever pull the trigger on voting for AOC, but as long as she's fvcking up someone else's congressional district and not mine, I'd love for her to stay involved for the entertainment aspect of it.

Every time you've said Ya today, I've imagined you saying it in a super heavy Boston accent.

I loathe them both for the same reasons you like them

I disagree. Al Franken was shamed into an early retirement by democrats for a risque photo taken as a joke. Trump openly brags about sexually assaulting women and all we hear from republicans are jokes or excuses/deflection.

Al Franken groped the tits of a sleeping woman and took a picture. That’s not a “risqué” photo

He was also accused of forcibly kissing her, which qualifies as sexual assault. Of course, if she had just stayed home this wouldn’t have happened to her.

So much information to consider. Consider this: Bill "Cigar" Clinton's re-election campaign ran on "It's the economy stupid! The current economy will make it very difficult to unseat the incumbent.

EPI is not fan of President Trump’s economic policies Wage growth is being held back by political decisions and the Trump administration is on the wrong side of key debates, while reporting favorably on Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders On Immigration, Bernie Sanders is Correct.

Well they didn’t fail a fact check so maybe they’re right about trump. Your own article said it’s a credible source so I’m not sure why you’d dismiss their findings out of hand based on anything that site had to say about the EPI.

Presumably the econometrics were published with the study so other economists will be able to review their data and methodology. If it’s flawed then others will dispute it. This isn’t some far left think tank

I'm not necessarily dismissing it. I'm more choosing the other, more moderate, sources.

Left center is moderate. There’s no such thing as a source that’s dead center. You were also the one who claimed that both left and right leaning think tanks were coming to the same conclusion about M4A.

"it'll raise wages" sure, that very well could be true. But conspicuously absent is any mention of taxes or net take home pay.

You can take a 10% raise and shove it up your ass if it comes with a 15% tax increase.

Also - the mention of a requirement to shift workers from the insurance business to healthcare delivery sounds like a disaster.
"Hey Doc, how many of these procedures have you done before?"
"You're my first, but don't worry I've done the paperwork for thousands of them!"

hey, that’s locker room talk.

That's just not true.

All politicians lack morals. That's how they got to where they are. If they were of the utmost moral integrity, they never would have made it to the top of their profession. Most just dress it up better than Trump. And I go back and forth on Trump's ways. On one hand, I agree with you. I would prefer a more stately presentation, one that's above the morally corrupt behavior. So essentially what I'm saying there is "lie to me in a way that makes me feel good about the person you are". But on the other hand, it's somewhat refreshing to see someone be himself. Because as I stated above and as I really believe, every single male politician has grabbed a woman by the pussy at some point and then bragged about it (figuratively speaking - what I mean is that I believe every single one of them is guilty of immoral behavior). And they've all been pulling the wool over our eyes. So like I said, to have a guy that doesn't feel the need to cover up, that's admirable on some level, no?

Disagree. I think most politicians have plenty of morals, it's just for some those morals are just F'ed up. Their priorities are wrong.

Heel was right. Trump totally lacks morals. He only has 3.
1. Whats best for me
2. Whats best for my family
3. Whats best for people that say nice things about me
That's it.
So although he totally lacks morals, I think he has the most moral integrity of any president ever. Has he ever compromised any of his 3 morals?

Good time to buy oil, I think. It's dropped to $8 a barrel. Futures are down 1100 points for tomorrow.
