We've all been ranting about loading the box but it seems there isn't a bunch more than we can do.

Last yrs improvements were largely about fundamentals and attitude, some scheme. The only thing left to change this yr would be talent of personnel or maybe scheme tweaks. But personnel isn't changing overnite, so this kinda reinforces just how bad the previous staff was regarding fundamentals, attitude and scheme.

Is anybody else surprised by those stats? I'm even more concerned about our run defense after reading that. The previous defensive staff was horrible at teaching defensive fundamentals. We couldn't tackle anybody. We've made improvements but it's going to take time to correct the negative habits that were developed over the last several years. Regardless of the talent level on defense, which I think is mediocre, our fundamentals are still lacking. Too many missed tackles, missed assignments, wrong pursuit angles, etc...

being healthy for the first time this year will help...

tomorrow we find out how much...

but last year around this time of the season the changes on D began to take hold so we should start seeing improvement if it is to be had...

I am getting tired about hearing lack of "personnel" , we have had better recruiting classes than VT the last few years and look how their defense "seems" to have stepped up the last 2 weeks. It ain't like we have a bunch of 2* guys.
